Sorry, no deaths since 1888. And 80-some total (a large portion being rapid, or provoked wolves) in Canada and Alaska in the last 250+ years. Since the introduction of firearms. Fewer. Point being, let's not get worked up.
@karlsmetbak Go on wikipedia and look at the list of wolf attacks. Also, Candice Berner was killed by wolves in 2010. the wolves were confirmed to be healthy, non-rabid.
I said contiguous United States. My numbers are still accurate according to your wikipedia suggestion. As I had said, European wolves are far more aggressive, hence the reason you see so many of the fatalities in Russia, etc.
@karlsmetbak But what about Candice Berner who was killed by wolves in the United States? There's also James Smith, killed in March 4, 1910 in Waterloo, Iowa. And how do you know she wasn't being attacked? It was running towards her. What do you think it was gonna do? Greet her like a neighborhood dog? Come on, man. Think about it. Usually when a wolf sees a human it will avoid him. This wolf did the opposite. Besides, wolves killed her neighbor's dogs a few days earlier.

this is B.S... I believe hunting wolves is sound conservation. But lets be honest....she wasn't being attacked. I think there is 1 confirmed wolf death in the entire anglo-european history of the U.S. (contiguous), and it was a rabid animal. Just a trigger happy basket-case who felt it necessary to shoot what was probably a young, curious animal. This is kind of pathetic.

I was thinking "For being attacked by a wolf she doesn't look to injured..." Then they showed her gun. Finally, a story where someone shows some common sense.
The wolf issue in North Idaho is the real deal. For years now I have been watching the game in my pasture. Since the re-introduction of wolves to my area the first to go were the turkeys then the rabbits. Most of the deer, elk and moose are gone now too. Today in my presence my dog was killed by a wolf less than 6 feet from the door. Now I am afraid to leave the house to go to the truck unarmed, its about 20 feet away. Never mind the wood shed. Carrying wood takes both arms. Bonner County Idaho
@1thebird1, why is it always domestic animals that are deemed all-important in the scheme of nature?
The larger problem is that Man keeps whittling away at nature and ignoring what's being lost. Will you be happy if America ends up with 500 million people this century? What's the purpose of endless crowding?
I've yet to see a moral explanation for why people should run roughshod over the world while other species die off, other than the archaic Genesis 1:28 "multiply and subdue" mandate.
No human has been attacked by a wolf in the lower 48 states since the reintroduction in 1995. I spoke to the wildlife biologist, at Wildlife Services, regarding this incident. He said the wolf came into the area where the woman was, presumably responding to the cow call the lady had been using. Wolf attacks on humans are extremely rare throughout history. Domestic dogs kill 20 - 30 people per years in the United States.
And there have been only 2 fatal wolf attacks in North America in the last 100 years.
Yet somehow, poorly educated and/or immoral people continue to suffer under the delusion that they are justified in supporting such a despicable act.
The delisting of wolves by Ken Salazar was just another poor decision that occurred under the Bush administration. And it allowed backwards state governments like the one in Idaho to make the horrendous decision to allow wolf killers.
@jimmyamanita, there will always be people who think the sole reason for Earth's existence is to coddle the runaway population growth, greed and pride of a single species (Man). To such people, everything else is just impeding "progress" and must be trampled.
When you ask them what their vision of "progress" will ultimately lead to, they won't give you a straight answer. They tend to be Creationist Republicans who want to drag us back into the moral and scientific dark ages.
With your saggy tits, ugly ass and retarded face, the wolf probably thought you were a dying elk and was doing you a favor. Too bad they don't pack heat as you did, you fuckin' ugly cow. If you wanna shoot something, do us all a favor and shoot your own kids and spare us a few rednecks.

@jimmyamanita wow be a little more stereotypical. how are people who hate guns against the constitutions and that makes them anti americans who protest against it so they are classified as terrorists. yeah i can play that game to you stupid little bitch
@TheRemainingFaithful I have lived in proximity of wolves for many years and nothing like this ever happened. Wolves run away, seeing a human from a long distance. This is a very rare and ulikely event. Perhaps, that wolf was sick or lived with people for some time. Tamed wolves loose some of their natural fear of humans.
@TheRemainingFaithful This is a very good explanation. Perhaps, this is why the wolves showed up. I know of some cases, when brown bear came up to a hunter, using its favorite prey call.
@subarkin Yeah. In fact shark attacks happen usually because the shark mistook a human for prey. So with that said I find no reason for this story to be false.
@jimmyamanita I thought you would have been done by now...
There is no evidence she is making up this story either. Her owning a wolf tag doesn't mean she is lying about this. Though the wolves killing her friend's dogs 6 days before this attack seem to indicate that they had no fear of humans and therefore had no qualms about attacking them. That does back up her story.
I doubt you're in any position to be calling anyone immoral.
Wolves are shy elusive creatures they want nothing to do with humans if the animals are attacking then there is a reason...a healthy wild wolve wants nothing to do with us.
Lol, why are people getting upset about her shooting a wolf? Even if she was lying for whatever reason, if she had a wolf tag, then I can assume what she didn't wasn't illegal anyhow. Hunters bring in SO much money for wildlife conservation, and not all are successful in their hunts (Don't like it? Get laws passed to tax hiking/camping items instead of guns/ arrows/bullets and hunting tags). If I was 10 feet away from a large predator coming for me, I'd want to shoot it too.
@jimmyamanita Why don't you come out here and put you in the same situation. First you'll crap your pants then that poor little wolf will tear you to pieces. Then I will smile because there will be one less wolf loving lunatic like you.
@jimmyamanita No, she was hunting an elk. Didn't you listen to the story? And her life is more sacred than a wolf. You can't blame her for defending herself. Just why is it totally ok for a wolf to kill a human but outragous for a human to kill a wolf (esspecially in self-defense)? If that wolf was coming after you I doubt you would be saying that now.
@jimmyamanita It matters because you said the wolf was "so close to a meal", implying it was avoiding her, when it was really it was targetting her. You also implied that she was hunting wolves instead of elk. You changed her story around and made it seem like she was lying.
Remember she used a cow call to lure in elk. By chance the wolf mistook her for prey but it nontheless was going to attack her so I don't see how her shooting the wolf was unnecessary.
We can only speculate that the wolf was going to attack her.
The fact that we have is that she attacked the wolf.
I feel it was unnecessary because the likelihood of a single wolf, which is a pack hunter, attacking a human is vanishingly small. I feel it is quite likely that she dis either misperceive the threat or embellished her story.
@jimmyamanita She didn't "attack" the wolf. She shot it because it was approaching her. If a man was to approach a wolf the wolf would have bit that man to defend itself out of instinct. Likewise, since the wolf was approaching a woman she acted out instinct and did what she deemed necessary to defend herself. And the fact that it was a single wolf doesn't mean she was not in any danger. And wolves killed 3 of her friends dogs. I doubt misperceived the threat. And stop assuming she's lying.
@jimmyamanita No, the wolves didn't "defend" themselves from the dogs. They ATTACKED the dogs. Those hunting dogs could have been tracking elk or just sitting outside their owner's home.
Your judgement isn't very good then. You are putting an animal above a human. I fail to see how, if possible in this situation, she over reacted. If a man with a knife was charging at her and she shot him (remember, this woman is a police officer) would that be overreacting?
@jimmyamanita The fact that she has a "wolf tag" means nothing. That's just a phrase the news reporter used. Actually wolves have been eaten by some hunters but that isn't the point. The point is, a wild animal was charging after her. She used an elk call so maybe the wolf mistook her for an elk. Nevertheless her life was in danger and she had to defend herself. That sums up all of the details. What kind of education is there to be needed for this scenario?
*sigh* How do you know she "desired" to kill the wolf? When a police officer shoots a person out of defense they normally don't "desire" it. What evidence is there needed to prove her story? A wolf was running towards her after she used an elk call and she shot it. What do you think it was gonna do? Greet her like a dog greets it's owner? A wolf (a wild on anyway) doesn't run towards somebody with the intent to be friends. She did what she to.
@jimmyamanita And again, you can't assume she was "predispositioned" for violence against wolves. She was hunting elk, not wolves. The only real victim is her and you're victimizng her even further by reducing her to a liar.
So we should accept that she was telling the truth, but you're saying that the reporter lied?
Sorry buddy, she did have a wolf tag and she was also quoted in the Lewiston Tribune as saying, " I would have preferred to shoot a wolf later in the year when it is colder and their coats are thicker."
Seems pretty clear that based on her statements, we can establish that she had both motivation and intent to kill a wolf.
@jimmyamanita I didn't say the reporter lied. I said the reporter said that to spice up his story. All reporters do that without it distorting the truth. And I just googled your quote and I found nothing of what you just said.
Is there really any point in continuing this discussion? The fact is she killed a wolf which was advancing towards her. It was 10 feet from her. Why would she lie about having to defend herself?
@jimmyamanita Ok, so she uses an elk call in order to lure a wolf, the wolf comes and she shoots it just to make up propaganda in order to convince people that wolves are evil and are monsters? So this is nothing but some anti-wolf conspiracy?
Oh come on, man! The wolf gonna attack her! It didn't stop when it got close to her, didn't slow down, and was 10 feet in front of her still advancing! Obviously it saw her as prey. What do you think it was gonna do? Lick her face like a dog?
@jimmyamanita Not really abnormal for a wolf to attack a human. Uncommon but it still happens. And even if it was, that doesn't mean this woman lied about her story or overreacted.
Please let me know of these reports. Wolves live near and with humans in many parts of Canada, there in the US, in Russia and in other parts of the world. Incidents of attacks on humans are quite rare.
What a stupid bitch. Notice she did not say it was attacking her. It was just there, looking at her. People in Ketchikan live side by side with polar bears, and somehow they manage to not shoot them on sight all day.
@BruceH59 My bad, in Ketchikan, it is the black bear (and some brown bear). I was thinking of Point Barrow. ( I had my Discovery channel shows mixed up). The point is the people in these places don't simply shoot an extremely dangerous animal like a bear just because they see one. Even if they are very close. They leave it be unless they are specifically hunting it, or they are in Eminent danger.
@avati100 Ok I was like I knew the Polar bear population is at an all time high but I didn't think they were that far south. This wolf was attacking the lady and it got what it deserved. You are TV watcher you have no clue what is going on out in Idaho the wolves are way over populated.
@BruceH59 I stand by my statements Bruce, and it is wrong to assume what I know or don't know. You don't know that the wolf was attacking her, and neither do I, but I know a lot about wolves. I've been raising them for over 30 years.
@BruceH59 Yes, that is what she said, and I understand you believe her. I don't. You're very insulting. You have no idea how old I am, and quite frankly your grammar points to a much lower level of maturity. I have found over the years when people begin the insults, it because they have no good arguments left. I will not be responding to you further, no matter what you say. Have a good day.
@avati100 LMAO nice try kid you are insulting the lady by calling her a lady that is a sure sign of immature kid spouting off. I told you to drive to Yellowstone instead you talk about watching TV. LOL you think TV is telling you the truth this lady defended her life form a wolves and since it is documented facts wolves attack and kill people common sense for an adult would be to listen to her true life story not play childish games cause you watch TV.
@BruceH59 Of course I was not there, and so judging this is difficult, but In this woman's account of the events, I don't see how she was in eminent danger. Wolves are curious, and man is not on their diet. A wolf would need to be starving before it would attack a human, and it is obvious from the photo that this wolf was not starving. He was very healthy and magnificent.
@avati100 I interview this lady the wolf charged her from a 100 yards away and it was still charging when she shot it at 10 feet. He just a feral mutt that needed killing. You really should go to yellowstone and see the barren wasteland these useless wolves leave behind. Once there use to be traffic jams waiting for the great herds of animals to cross the road today you are lucky to see a couple of animals. Go see for yourself.
NICE JOB ANDERSON!!! sorry to hear about your friends dogs. I have two tags I need to fill, I will be in Orofino in January, let me know how I can do my part to lower population. I know I could hear the coyotes going bananas and one lone howl while at my friends ranch in Orofino (NOV 2011). This January(2012) will be a fish/hunt for me, I hope to get more wolf than steelhead. would love any info of ares to hunt in the Orofino area.
Thanks to the special interest and politicians I get to hunt
To all you wolf hunters out there USE ENOUGH GUN. I keep hitting them but can't find them. They keep running off. Guess my 7mm mag isn't big enough. Wolves .........smoke a pack a day
I had a wolf coming straight at me while I was deer hunting, only about 1/2 hour outside of Boise. It was running straight down a very steep hill towards me. I stood up from my sitting position, to make it clear that I was human, then the wolf started running even faster towards me. I have never hunted for any predatory animals before, but I bought two wolf tags and I will fill them both. 4 days hunting and I seen no deer, but seen a wolf coming at me. What is wrong with that picture?
Thank you for your comment, however I completely disagree with your statements. Which I imagine that you have questioned yourself, considering you deleted your comment.
Bull - I don't believe her. I think she was out there with the INTENT to kill a wolf. Keep your dogs in the house, yes, no dog should ever be tied outside or left to run loose, no matter where you live (that's just irresponsible) - but wolves are not hunting humans. And they won't hunt livestock if we leave enough of their natural prey in the wilderness and not over-harvest game for the $ tags bring in.
@HSFootballMoms wow. you need to put down your bon bons, and do a little fact checking sweetheart. they wont hunt livestock? give me a damn break. that is a flat out lie. and if you truly believe that, you're an idiot. stick to being a "football mom". going to pick up my two wolf tags this week. send me your email and i'll forward you pictures of a couple dead wolves later this winter!! better get back to your soaps. just curious, what state do you live in?
@darrylbeckr why are wolves hated so much and called killers, they see no difference between a cow or an elk, both are food, we eat cows! I have no problem with that, there would be no problem with cattle if farmers built special fences to keep there livestock in. If you have dogs and live near wolves, get a fence. If you have a problem with wolves because they are killers and you hunt them look in the mirror because you just became the very thing you say you hate.
@gunnerpuppy1999 good punk you pay for the livestock put your money where your big fat mouth is. Or you Marxist scum and want the rancher to pay for your childish spoiled brat pipedream
@gunnerpuppy1999 you replied to my comment with the exact same statement. get a life. you think farmers raise cattle huh? jesus h christ. have you ever seen the show "life goes on". you remind me of corky.
@HSFootballMoms Keep your dogs inside? In there natural habitat? I feel sorry for dogs that are kept inside or kenneled up all the time. That is not the kind of lives they were meant to live. Wolves have hunted humans more than once. I had a wolf come straight at me while I was hunting for a deer. I don't think it was running up to me because it wanted a pat on the head or to play fetch. They will hunt livestock even with plentiful deer and elk. Livestock are easier targets. Really?
Anyone who loves the outdoors, their country and their wildlife should get involved. The stupidity of wolf introduction has proven to be a total failure. Learn to trap and shoot every wolf you see.
Pack the pistil while hunting or walking in the woods. Drop those killers at every chance. In a few more years, elk will become nonexistant in many areas and it is only a matter of time before a wolf takes a human.
Why so many people are crying over the wolf is funny. Pathetic losers in life. 1000's of wolves are killed in Canda every year guess what children magic happen wolf mate and their is more born every year. My God would you people grow up already. Wolves need controlling get use to. Yes you can tell people with nothing to with lives but stick their nose in other people business waste time crying about wolf. END OF STORY.
Maybe what she did with the wolf AFTER she killed it should be the real story, the post kill photos tell it different, and her body language in the interview says she is NOT being truthful!
She was only hunting....using a cow call could bring in a wolf and once it saw, what it thought was an easy target, it probably figured what the heck, a meal! I do not believe for a second she was provoking a wolf. She seems like an intelligent woman, that knows a lot about the outdoors. Anything can happen with a wild or domestic animal with out being provoked. Only she and the wolf know what happened that day. END OF STORY!
@BruceH59 excuse me, when exactly were your sources of this information made, sounds like the early to mid 1900's to me because that is relatively invalid
She must have done something to provoke that wolf into attacking her, because under normal circumstances, this would never have happened with a healthy wolf.
@playingbass45 There must be a lot of "unhealthy" wolves running around because I had one pursue me from over 500 yards away while I was bedded down near a large sage, hunting for deer. I seen it coming so I stood up to let it know that I am human. It stopped and starred at about 100 yards then started running even faster towards me. Since you appearently know enough about wolves to make comments on this subject, please tell me what I did to provoke it.
@playingbass45 Well I certainly would not say that I got too close to it, as I was sitting on a hillside. And I was not deep in wolf country or anything, I was only 30 minutes from Boise, near the bussiest road in the area for that matter. When I seen it coming, it was 500-600 yards away, as it came up and over a hill towards the area that I was hunting. So it is pretty safe to say that it pursued me and I did not walk up on it or anything. Not sure what the deal was... but not good.
@darrylbeckr "I seen it coming so I stood up to let it know that I am human." error number 1 you assumed a dominent position when you were most definitely trespassing on its territory
error number 2 you made eye contact (probably)
a tip, avert your gaze do not attempt to look stronger than it

@subarkin Yeah. In fact shark attacks happen usually because the shark mistook a human for prey. So with that said I find no reason for this story to be false.
TheRemainingFaithful 1 month ago
@TheRemainingFaithful
But there is no evidence that she was attacked.
There however is her confession that she wanted to kill a wolf.
And since she was the owner of a wolf tag, we also have evidence that she did intend to kill a wolf.
Just another immoral person making a bad decision that will hopefully weigh on her soul and lead her to an examination of her life.
jimmyamanita 1 month ago
@jimmyamanita I thought you would have been done by now...
There is no evidence she is making up this story either. Her owning a wolf tag doesn't mean she is lying about this. Though the wolves killing her friend's dogs 6 days before this attack seem to indicate that they had no fear of humans and therefore had no qualms about attacking them. That does back up her story.
I doubt you're in any position to be calling anyone immoral.
TheRemainingFaithful 1 month ago
Wolves are shy elusive creatures they want nothing to do with humans if the animals are attacking then there is a reason...a healthy wild wolve wants nothing to do with us.
Cheryl1757 1 month ago
@Cheryl1757 That's actually not true, healthy wolves have attacked people. There are reports of healthy wolves attacking humans.
TheRemainingFaithful 1 month ago
Lol, why are people getting upset about her shooting a wolf? Even if she was lying for whatever reason, if she had a wolf tag, then I can assume what she didn't wasn't illegal anyhow. Hunters bring in SO much money for wildlife conservation, and not all are successful in their hunts (Don't like it? Get laws passed to tax hiking/camping items instead of guns/ arrows/bullets and hunting tags). If I was 10 feet away from a large predator coming for me, I'd want to shoot it too.
wolfforce58205 1 month ago
Correction: did what she *needed* to.
TheRemainingFaithful 2 months ago
Poor wolf.
So close to a meal but a malicious hunter used a questionable story as a silly attempt to justify the taking of sacred life.
jimmyamanita 2 months ago
@jimmyamanita Why don't you come out here and put you in the same situation. First you'll crap your pants then that poor little wolf will tear you to pieces. Then I will smile because there will be one less wolf loving lunatic like you.
ruj1970 2 months ago
@jimmyamanita No, she was hunting an elk. Didn't you listen to the story? And her life is more sacred than a wolf. You can't blame her for defending herself. Just why is it totally ok for a wolf to kill a human but outragous for a human to kill a wolf (esspecially in self-defense)? If that wolf was coming after you I doubt you would be saying that now.
TheRemainingFaithful 2 months ago
@TheRemainingFaithful
Yes, I did read that she was hunting. Not sure why that matters.
What I am saying is that is is very improbable that the wolf had attacked her.
My belief is that she killed the wolf out of her own lack of understanding and misplaced fear.
And it was unnecessary to take the life of the wolf.
jimmyamanita 2 months ago
@jimmyamanita It matters because you said the wolf was "so close to a meal", implying it was avoiding her, when it was really it was targetting her. You also implied that she was hunting wolves instead of elk. You changed her story around and made it seem like she was lying.
Remember she used a cow call to lure in elk. By chance the wolf mistook her for prey but it nontheless was going to attack her so I don't see how her shooting the wolf was unnecessary.
TheRemainingFaithful 2 months ago
@TheRemainingFaithful
We can only speculate that the wolf was going to attack her.
The fact that we have is that she attacked the wolf.
I feel it was unnecessary because the likelihood of a single wolf, which is a pack hunter, attacking a human is vanishingly small. I feel it is quite likely that she dis either misperceive the threat or embellished her story.
jimmyamanita 2 months ago
@jimmyamanita She didn't "attack" the wolf. She shot it because it was approaching her. If a man was to approach a wolf the wolf would have bit that man to defend itself out of instinct. Likewise, since the wolf was approaching a woman she acted out instinct and did what she deemed necessary to defend herself. And the fact that it was a single wolf doesn't mean she was not in any danger. And wolves killed 3 of her friends dogs. I doubt misperceived the threat. And stop assuming she's lying.
TheRemainingFaithful 2 months ago
@TheRemainingFaithful
She did attack it. She shot it, that IS an attack.
I'm not assuming, I'm making a judgement based on a calculus that includes both human and wolf psychology.
That's part of her overreaction. She had a built in emotional response because the poor wolves had defended themselves against her friend's dog pack.
Stop assuming that she could accurately recall the details and then articulate them faithfully
jimmyamanita 2 months ago
@TheRemainingFaithful
And, the fact that she has a "wolf tag", indicates that she is predisposed to violence against wolves.
Wolves are not eaten, therefore they are not a game animal.
They are only hunted out of fear or lack of education.
jimmyamanita 2 months ago
@jimmyamanita No, the wolves didn't "defend" themselves from the dogs. They ATTACKED the dogs. Those hunting dogs could have been tracking elk or just sitting outside their owner's home.
Your judgement isn't very good then. You are putting an animal above a human. I fail to see how, if possible in this situation, she over reacted. If a man with a knife was charging at her and she shot him (remember, this woman is a police officer) would that be overreacting?
TheRemainingFaithful 2 months ago
@jimmyamanita The fact that she has a "wolf tag" means nothing. That's just a phrase the news reporter used. Actually wolves have been eaten by some hunters but that isn't the point. The point is, a wild animal was charging after her. She used an elk call so maybe the wolf mistook her for an elk. Nevertheless her life was in danger and she had to defend herself. That sums up all of the details. What kind of education is there to be needed for this scenario?
TheRemainingFaithful 2 months ago
@TheRemainingFaithful
Well faithful it does mean something that she has a wolf tag.
It means that she has a desire to kill a wolf.
And she did. Regardless of how immoral it is to hunt wolves, to shoot one in self defense would be justified.
But there is no evidence that she did so. Only the word of an emotional person who had a predisposition for violence against the victim.
The fact is that more humans have attacked wolves in Idaho than wolves have attacked humans.
jimmyamanita 2 months ago
@jimmyamanita I thought you were done here?
*sigh* How do you know she "desired" to kill the wolf? When a police officer shoots a person out of defense they normally don't "desire" it. What evidence is there needed to prove her story? A wolf was running towards her after she used an elk call and she shot it. What do you think it was gonna do? Greet her like a dog greets it's owner? A wolf (a wild on anyway) doesn't run towards somebody with the intent to be friends. She did what she to.
TheRemainingFaithful 2 months ago
@jimmyamanita And again, you can't assume she was "predispositioned" for violence against wolves. She was hunting elk, not wolves. The only real victim is her and you're victimizng her even further by reducing her to a liar.
TheRemainingFaithful 2 months ago
@TheRemainingFaithful
Well, We know that she desired to kill a wolf because she purchased a wolf tag.
What other reason would you possibly buy a wolf tag for?
Please take some intellectual responsibility for yourself.
jimmyamanita 1 month ago
@jimmyamanita She didn't purchase a wolf tag. Again, that was something the reporter said to spice up his story.
TheRemainingFaithful 1 month ago
@TheRemainingFaithful
Oh Ok.
Seems pretty clear that based on her statements, we can establish that she had both motivation and intent to kill a wolf.
jimmyamanita 1 month ago
@jimmyamanita I didn't say the reporter lied. I said the reporter said that to spice up his story. All reporters do that without it distorting the truth. And I just googled your quote and I found nothing of what you just said.
Is there really any point in continuing this discussion? The fact is she killed a wolf which was advancing towards her. It was 10 feet from her. Why would she lie about having to defend herself?
TheRemainingFaithful 1 month ago
@TheRemainingFaithful
To convince people that wolves are evil and need to be exterminated.
jimmyamanita 1 month ago
@jimmyamanita Ok, so she uses an elk call in order to lure a wolf, the wolf comes and she shoots it just to make up propaganda in order to convince people that wolves are evil and are monsters? So this is nothing but some anti-wolf conspiracy?
Oh come on, man! The wolf gonna attack her! It didn't stop when it got close to her, didn't slow down, and was 10 feet in front of her still advancing! Obviously it saw her as prey. What do you think it was gonna do? Lick her face like a dog?
TheRemainingFaithful 1 month ago
@TheRemainingFaithful Well,
I'm not sure that you need to resort to hyperbole in an effort to make her look like a victim.
Like Cheryl says above, it is very abnormal for a wolf to attack a human and it would be even more unlikely for a solo wolf to attack a human.
And yes, there is obviously alot of anti wolf sentiment in Idaho. How can you deny that?
jimmyamanita 1 month ago
@jimmyamanita Not really abnormal for a wolf to attack a human. Uncommon but it still happens. And even if it was, that doesn't mean this woman lied about her story or overreacted.
TheRemainingFaithful 1 month ago
@TheRemainingFaithful
It is extremely abnormal.
Please let me know of these reports. Wolves live near and with humans in many parts of Canada, there in the US, in Russia and in other parts of the world. Incidents of attacks on humans are quite rare.

What a stupid bitch. Notice she did not say it was attacking her. It was just there, looking at her. People in Ketchikan live side by side with polar bears, and somehow they manage to not shoot them on sight all day.
avati100 3 months ago
@avati100 Ketchikan has polar bears really I want to see the proof of that.
BruceH59 2 months ago
@BruceH59 My bad, in Ketchikan, it is the black bear (and some brown bear). I was thinking of Point Barrow. ( I had my Discovery channel shows mixed up). The point is the people in these places don't simply shoot an extremely dangerous animal like a bear just because they see one. Even if they are very close. They leave it be unless they are specifically hunting it, or they are in Eminent danger.
avati100 2 months ago
@avati100 Ok I was like I knew the Polar bear population is at an all time high but I didn't think they were that far south. This wolf was attacking the lady and it got what it deserved. You are TV watcher you have no clue what is going on out in Idaho the wolves are way over populated.
BruceH59 2 months ago
@BruceH59 I stand by my statements Bruce, and it is wrong to assume what I know or don't know. You don't know that the wolf was attacking her, and neither do I, but I know a lot about wolves. I've been raising them for over 30 years.

@avati100 Can you understand English I interview the lady DUH when you grow up and learn to accept facts let me know Kid.
BruceH59 2 months ago
@BruceH59 Yes, that is what she said, and I understand you believe her. I don't. You're very insulting. You have no idea how old I am, and quite frankly your grammar points to a much lower level of maturity. I have found over the years when people begin the insults, it because they have no good arguments left. I will not be responding to you further, no matter what you say. Have a good day.
avati100 2 months ago
@avati100 LMAO nice try kid you are insulting the lady by calling her a lady that is a sure sign of immature kid spouting off. I told you to drive to Yellowstone instead you talk about watching TV. LOL you think TV is telling you the truth this lady defended her life form a wolves and since it is documented facts wolves attack and kill people common sense for an adult would be to listen to her true life story not play childish games cause you watch TV.
BruceH59 2 months ago
@BruceH59 Of course I was not there, and so judging this is difficult, but In this woman's account of the events, I don't see how she was in eminent danger. Wolves are curious, and man is not on their diet. A wolf would need to be starving before it would attack a human, and it is obvious from the photo that this wolf was not starving. He was very healthy and magnificent.
avati100 2 months ago
@avati100 I interview this lady the wolf charged her from a 100 yards away and it was still charging when she shot it at 10 feet. He just a feral mutt that needed killing. You really should go to yellowstone and see the barren wasteland these useless wolves leave behind. Once there use to be traffic jams waiting for the great herds of animals to cross the road today you are lucky to see a couple of animals. Go see for yourself.

I know I could hear the coyotes going bananas and one lone howl while at my friends ranch in Orofino (NOV 2011). This January(2012) will be a fish/hunt for me, I hope to get more wolf than steelhead. would love any info of ares to hunt in the Orofino area.

Bull - I don't believe her. I think she was out there with the INTENT to kill a wolf. Keep your dogs in the house, yes, no dog should ever be tied outside or left to run loose, no matter where you live (that's just irresponsible) - but wolves are not hunting humans. And they won't hunt livestock if we leave enough of their natural prey in the wilderness and not over-harvest game for the $ tags bring in.

idahochas 4 months ago 2
@darrylbeckr why are wolves hated so much and called killers, they see no difference between a cow or an elk, both are food, we eat cows! I have no problem with that, there would be no problem with cattle if farmers built special fences to keep there livestock in. If you have dogs and live near wolves, get a fence. If you have a problem with wolves because they are killers and you hunt them look in the mirror because you just became the very thing you say you hate.

idahochas 2 months ago
@HSFootballMoms Keep your dogs inside? In there natural habitat? I feel sorry for dogs that are kept inside or kenneled up all the time. That is not the kind of lives they were meant to live. Wolves have hunted humans more than once. I had a wolf come straight at me while I was hunting for a deer. I don't think it was running up to me because it wanted a pat on the head or to play fetch. They will hunt livestock even with plentiful deer and elk. Livestock are easier targets. Really?

@darrylbeckr Wolves have hunted humans more than once? What are your sources

Wolves need controlling get use to. Yes you can tell people with nothing to with lives but stick their nose in other people business waste time crying about wolf. END OF STORY.
BruceH59 4 months ago
Maybe what she did with the wolf AFTER she killed it should be the real story, the post kill photos tell it different, and her body language in the interview says she is NOT being truthful!
Jamart2662 4 months ago
She was only hunting....using a cow call could bring in a wolf and once it saw, what it thought was an easy target, it probably figured what the heck, a meal! I do not believe for a second she was provoking a wolf. She seems like an intelligent woman, that knows a lot about the outdoors. Anything can happen with a wild or domestic animal with out being provoked. Only she and the wolf know what happened that day. END OF STORY!

playingbass45 4 months ago
@playingbass45 There must be a lot of "unhealthy" wolves running around because I had one pursue me from over 500 yards away while I was bedded down near a large sage, hunting for deer. I seen it coming so I stood up to let it know that I am human. It stopped and starred at about 100 yards then started running even faster towards me. Since you appearently know enough about wolves to make comments on this subject, please tell me what I did to provoke it.
darrylbeckr 3 months ago
@darrylbeckr Aside from getting too close, did you do anything else that might have pissed him/her off?
playingbass45 3 months ago
@playingbass45 Well I certainly would not say that I got too close to it, as I was sitting on a hillside. And I was not deep in wolf country or anything, I was only 30 minutes from Boise, near the bussiest road in the area for that matter. When I seen it coming, it was 500-600 yards away, as it came up and over a hill towards the area that I was hunting. So it is pretty safe to say that it pursued me and I did not walk up on it or anything. Not sure what the deal was... but not good.
