With regard to candidates, I am not sure what you expect. Like all parties we have to draw from people who have both the interest and time to offer. There's simply nothing that can be done about that. 95% of applications so far have been from people in employment however.
We are successfully drawing from a wide pool of people, many with no prior political affiliation, which demonstrates that our appeal is reaching areas that other parties can't. That's encouraging.
Oh for the love of God! How does anyone believe any headway will be made in defying the Lisbon Treaty when we now have Libertas, UKIP and sadly...the BNP...campaigning on the same points, all stealing votes from one another, from people who believe in the same principles. UKIP and Libertas are identical in principle except for UKIPs desire to leave the EU, surely some kind of agreement could be reached at least in the short term to defeat the Lisbon Treaty?? This is madness, only the EU succeeds
Didn't mean the BNP have the same principles...just that their gaining votes from misled individuals who simply want to defy the totalitarianism of the EU. I don't know whether to vote UKIP or Libertas now!
I should also have mentioned in my previous reply that our main target will be new voters; all those people who feel that none of the domestic parties represent their views on the EU. Beyond that, former Tory and Labour voters will come over to Libertas in large numbers.
But UKIP's main target will be new voters :P Since when were UKIP a main party? As appealing as Libertas sounds, surely even if they gain half the parliamentary seats they couldn't gain democracy, openness, value and national power as MEPs are unable to suggest or ratify legislation that has not been proposed by the unelected commission. Correct me if Im wrong! But it sounds like forming a party in the USSR and hoping enough seats will be gained to propose the return of capitalism.
By 'new voters' we mean those people who didn't vote last time. Only 38% of people in Britain voted last time, compared to 61% in the general election. We want to motivate those people by offering something worth voting for that really can offer change.
With regard to *how* we will change it, it may be more about political momentum - the EU has run out of ideas and has no where left to go if we can kill off the Lisbon Treaty. If Libertas can build a strong enough mandate, we will be able to play a leading role in the next attempt to build a new future for Europe. The EU leaders will have to accept that only a democratic, open and accountable EU, built around sovereign nations, can work in the long term.
Yeah but my question is, how can you possibly offer any influence or provide a leading role when that simply is not the role of MEPs?How could the entire totalitarian structure of the European Union alter so drastically simply because of the failure of Lisbon? It's failed three times already. Under the system of Brussels such a mandate could never exist, surely?
If Libertas can gain a mandate, then it won't just be about the MEPs, it will be about the momentum of the entire organisation. The EU has to change; that's why they keep pushing the Constitution/Lisbon Treaty. If that fails, they don't have a plan B. We do. If we can demonstrate that not only is our vision for Europe popular, it is also workable, it will quickly gain support from national governments too.
There is, as Nigel Farage of UKIP has said, no common ground between the two parties. Libertas is offering a positive agenda for root and branch reform of the EU. We want more democracy, more openness, powers returned from Brussels to the member nations and better value for money. Libertas is offering the first effective pan-European opposition to the superstate juggernaut.
Omg everyone, just quit it with the conspiracy theories!! If you believe in the EU, your vote does matter, so vote for Libertas or whoever you think WILL do the job!
You need to examine the links between Libertas and the New World Order. CIA Money is behind this. Ganley is in bed with US Arms Manufacturers, and supported by American extreme right-winger John Bolton.
ProzrachnyTeatr, political parties in the UK are only legally allowed to accept money from individuals and companies in the UK, all of whom have to be declared. Most of our funding will come from small donations from around the country.
I accidentally deleted your message, sorry. this is what you wrote:
Are you denying that Declan Ganley is a close friend of John Bolton, and that Libertas is allied to the Council of Foreign Relations? And that in the USA it gets funding from Arms Manufacturers??
Why do you hide the extreme right-wing affiliations Libertas has with the "New World Orderers"?
I have no idea whether Declan Ganley knows John Bolton, nor do I see the relevance. Libertas is a European political party, and nothing to do with the Council of Foreign Relations. Libertas doesn't have any presence in the USA at all, and it would be illegal for us to receive funding from US companies. Is it possible you are confusing this with Rivada Networks, which is Declan's company that provides communication equipment to assist US soldiers?
4th June - but your vote ins't enough. Convince every one of your family and mates and the tradtionally low tuirn out for euro election might be boosted with a wedge of Libertas votes.
