I just want to say that most of the "shelf lives" of beauty products are overstated, and it is not the end of the world to use them a month past their "life".

Makeup companies do this to get you to buy more products.

But I am not saying you shouldn't replace your products, because you most definitely should.

if anyone is looking for good drugstore brands, i totally would recommend L.A. Colors, which you can get at Dollar General. i don't think any of their products cost more than $2-3. They have a decent color range and the products go on and stay on well, but are also easy to remove. i also love the Hard Candy brand at Walmart. it's a bit more expensive, prices ranging $3-8 for most products. they have a TON of colors and the quality is fantastic. you can get a trial kit with 5-6 items for about $8

i didn't know about the container thing either i went through all my makeup stuff checking..and just saying check all of your face creams for fibroblasts..if there's any in anything you have then don't use it!

Can you use mineral makeups (Like Bareminerals, At, & others) that dont specify what it is used for on any part of your face? Im pretty sure you can. Most of the time you are sure what they are for (Like Foundation & Lip gloss) but I use eyeshadow mixed with Vaseline as lip gloss. I think you should specify.

How can an eyeshadow be bad to use as a highlighter? Eyes are the most sensitive part of your face, what's good for eyes is ok for anything else. At least that's what it's like in my universe. Don't know about yours.

@HappyNissa It can vary depending on the type of eyeliner! For example, liquid and cream eyeliners will tend to have a shorter shelf life. Just make sure you check the symbol on the packaging! :)

Oh no! Have I purchased a faulty one??!?......haha just kidding :) You can use the open jar logo on the packaging to use as a guideline for when the product expires from the day you open it!

May I ask what you wash your brushes with? or is it simple - water. I would imagine at MAC they have something for it, but water should be good enough, right?

I use the MAC brush cleanser...but I don't plan to repurchase (because there are much cheaper options). You can use a gentle hand soap or shampoo to help clean your brushes. There are also some videos on YouTube on how to make homemade brush cleanser.

This is a very helpful reminder. Most of the time I forget that I've been using a certain mascara past its expiration. Thanks to you now I'm bound to throw away 3 mascaras. Yikes!!! haha But really thank you for this. I don't want my eyes to catch any infection or anything gross like that. lol
