  • This Buick was ugly inside AND out.

  • and we could have put in airbags, but we didn't feel the cost was worth it to save your life. Have fun with those passive seatbelts getting in and out.

  • love it or hate it looks

  • still Have It? I Have an 85

  • these are k cars mines lasted 220k

  • Lol that Skylark will never be anywhere near as good as the 72 Skylark. =]

  • had the same exact car as this commercial....blew it up after 230K cause I hit a deer :-( Loved the torpedo like front end. :-D long as you had the 3.3L V6

  • had the same exact car as this commercial....blew it up after 230K cause I hit a deer :-( Loved the torpedo like front end. :-D

  • the dash on those cars was a laughing stock when it was introduced.

  • How the eff did they do that? How did they make it look like a big balloon? And why does the picture in this video get all full of lines? You should be excoriated for this!

  • my car

  • just puked in my mouth

  • My '91 LeSabre has those "automatic" belts. I just use them manually. I can't believe GM at one time thought they were a good idea.

  • @comgeek24 yea you everhad one of them damn things hit you in the head when you get out of the car fast my dad did lol in a ford probe he had one time i did as well it pisses you off

  • the dash was really bizarre on those things. god knows those automatic seatbelts didn't help selll them either

  • Not only ugly, but a real piece of crap in every way. Ever drive one? Don't bother. It's crap like this that drove GM into BK.

  • wow what an ugly car may parents had one of these!!

  • Is that on the same platform as the Oldsmobile Achieva?

  • yes, it's on the same platform as the Oldsmobile Achieva and Pontiac Grand AM. Speaking of Grand Am, pontiac would've survived if they didn't change it to G6.

  • mine is a '92 but its a coupe not a peice of crap sedan needs a new paint job tho

  • Speaking of the seatbelts, my first car was a gorgeous 1994 Beretta Coupe with V6 and all options with 17" wheels, and it too did have the door-mounted seatbelts.

I originally just thought that this was to make ingress/egress for back seat passengers easier as they would not be tripping over a pillar mounted belt, but then I looked through the books and found GM actually intended for you to SLIDE in/out behind them. NO WAY, I tried it and that was a big FAIL!!!!!!!

  • i know its ugly but mine has over 400,000km on it

  • Compared to any car from the early 90s, it looks pretty good.

  • looks horrible

  • See they way they're using the seatbelts? That was GM's take on passive belts, although I don't know anyone who ever keeps them buckled and uses them that way. Most people didn't even know that was what you were supossed to do. I tried it once, very awkward getting in.

  • Yeah That was the "Automatic" seatbelts back in the 90's. My mom's friend has them in her Corsica she uses them manual. They look awkward to begin with!

  • i never realized that's why they put the belts on the doors. those seatbelts won't do much good if the door opens in a crash.

  • Yeah you roll out the door, lol!

  • They were put their in lieu of equipping the car with air bags.

  • They were even more fun in the coupes. Just try getting in the back of one of those, especially when someone is already in the front seat. The door gets opened and you get choked.

  • steering wheel is kinda cool

  • i got a 96 right now and its so solid

hit a deer at 60 and drove away some minor cosmetic damage though better interior styling than the early 90's version and better grill and styling outside to good power and milage with the v6 (21-29mpg) handles well anti lock airbags trac control

    only one complaint

    manual windows wtf?

very good car though zero repairs so far and i drive it in northern michigan winters

  • anti-lock airbags. lol.

  • We owned a 95 skylark with airbags I personally think the 90's era skylark was a beautiful car

  • puta q paril q carro encrivel!!!!!!

  • I thought these were really unique looking cars back when they were new, along with the Olds Achieva. My Mom almost bought one back in '92. Thank god she didn't. They turned out to be such junk. I still think they both pretty eye catching though.

  • lmao i have a 1992 skylark!! i put a glass pack on it and painted it flat back and put a red anarchy you'd be surprised what they can look like if you change it around..

  • Ever seen the 2007 Civic Type R, the European one...guessing you haven't.

  • The 1992 Skylark may not have been the best car GM ever made, but it's definitely NOT boring! Take a look at one -- it's pretty unusual looking. And how many cars now have a red interior? It's all gray and beige now.

  • Are you kidding me? You're touting this car's red interior? Red was a common color throughout the 70s and 80s. It wasn't a big deal then.

The interior of this car is so ugly, color aside, no wonder it was such a flop.

  • This was a very distinctive car back then. It looked like nothing else on the road. I do agree though that the red interior looks awful. Have you ever seen the interior of one of these in person? Talk about low-rent quality!

  • distinctive or ugly? i guess you can say amc pacers are distinctive looking too.

  • Wow, american cars at that time were boring.

  • no they weren't! who dosen't want a FF 150hp car that looks like every other car on the road! make mie drab!
