oh wow i had this stuck in my head all my life and i was just singing it to my kids and i decided to look on youtube to see if it was here and HERE IT IS now my son is singing the song passing the torch reminds me of Regular Show when the summer time song got stuck in their head.
Well, it's cool that you or your parents had the forethought to record this stuff with like... your very virst VHS or Beta machine, huh? :) (Wait... is this copy good enough to have come from VHS?)
This and "Sweet Sue at The Sweet Shop" were my favorite songs to sing and confuse the hell out of unwary people. Of course I would sing the later using Tim Allen's caveman voice for added strangeness.
The song won't get stuck in my head for the rest of my life because that's not the one I remember. Didn't like this version. Anyone seen the original version or an alternate take? and, no, it's not Wilford Brimley. Not even close.
I came to this video to get the "stick, gooey" song out of my head...now I can never forget that big guy saying "SHUH-GARR!" That was completely unexpected.
Just wondering, I'm almost positive I remember a SS clip about kids and sugar canes. The kids were eating the fresh sugar cane. Anyone else remember that or has it surfaced yet here on YouTube?
@NantoVision1 thanks for posting this great video!!! I STILL sing this song to myself, and it was great to find, this is actually my grandpa in this clip, Arran Bentzin (correct spelling) :) as he passed away in 94, I have wanted to show this to my kids, and now i can!! thanks!!!
You always know it's sugar beet season in Bay City, MI when all you smell is a smokey, burnt peanut butter smell. Thanks Big Chief and/or Pioneer Sugar!
@sydneyca Agreed. A recent brief conversation about sugar beets triggered this song in my head, even though I hadn't heard it since I was a small child in the 70's.
@sydneyca This song has been stuck in my head for ever and I'm just finding it after probably 20 years and I'm so HAPPY. Song please don't leave me again

This song is nothing compared to the 5 animation piece where you hear them singing 12345 12345 etc.
That one is worse.
