Not sure how I'll play this without a patch, unless I'm willing to look at a FAQ/Walkthrough VERBATIM. Other than that, the game indeed looks solid, but because amazing games like this weren't released in the Western market, the Saturn died.

Is it playable without knowledge of the Japanese language though? It doesn't seem overly complicated but still, an RPG...

I got lucky and found it on Ebay a long time ago for a bargain. You could always use a good import site though, I think Japan Game Stock still has it in stock.

The Puyo Puyo series are actually spinoffs of the Madou Monogatari RPG series.

Why do people thumb down? The Madou Monogatari series existed first, while the Puyo games were made as a puzzle game spin-off series. Nowadays, most people just know Puyo Puyo, which is fine, but they miss out on the stories that led its creation.
