If you do not pay for music or you conspire or are complicit in allowing others to not pay for music, then you should be punished. The punishment needs to be punitive and have a deterrent efffect on free loaders. Industries who make music, whether large or small, need to be protected by the parasites of society who contribute nothing and leech off the work product and fruits of others.

I think "stealing" is the wrong metaphor. If you steal my car, I don't have it anymore. If you "steal" music, it doesn't take away from anyone. I don't think illegal music has had much of an effect on the industry. I think people just realized that $20 for a CD is too much. Not to mention that most artists don't actually benefit from the sale of records, the companies do. However you feel, I don't think someone who downloads ONE song owes the RIAA $100,000. That is absurd. No doubt.

i have no respect for record labels, the shit they manufacture isn't even worth downloading, the bands i listen to give their music away for free and make $ touring w/o a label. its a new market and record companies are gettin left behind and trying to bring the consumer w/ them.

Gays should not tolerate civil unions over marriage because, marriage is a legal term and has certain rights that go with it. Civil union is also a legal term that does not come with certain right, for instance, if you are married, and your spouse dies you get their pension, or at least part of it, in civil unions you do not. Don't settle.
