@scepak obviously you set the cropping and rotation in the client side interface as you can see then when he hits submit the settings are applied to the image on the server side and most likely a copy is produced, am I right?

Thanks tuleo554. I asked that 8 months ago and I learned a lot about all this stuff since then. jQuery is brilliant and very useful for responsive client side.

This is really cool. I'm looking for a way to get a better GUI for working with Drupal. I'm used to WordPress, but WordPress won't support CiviCRM :-(

Thanks for your interest. I'm planning to release this as a Drupal module, but there's much to be done before it is ready for general consumption since it is so closely entwined in site specific code.

Since switching over to Jquery UI the code was completely overhauled. The cropping/previewing is done entirely on the client side, thus making it much more responsive. Aspect ratio support is in thanks to braeker's excellent resizable plugin. It is also possible to set derivatives of any size.

would also be awesome it it integrated into imagecache module as an action so that users could create different croping for each version of an image when it's uploaded. otherwise default rules will apply.

and I agree that the aspect ratio constraint feature would be great.

I've been looking for a solution like this for several weeks. The ability to constrain the aspect ratio (i.e. for avatar uploads, etc.) would be perfect!!
