I have used several MP3/4 players including i-river (can't remember its name), sony (...), iPod nano and Cowon i9.

As he mentioned, this actually provides stunning sound quality and it is not too expensive compares to Nano or Sony. I'll still using it now and I'm 100% happy with this product. Must buy~!

Sony betters this with ease.

Sony doesn't do anything other than MP3 and wav though.

Sub-Bass boost ! the earbuds that come with the i9 are nice. Press them into your ears and you'll hear alott of sub-bass. Add "Acoustibuds" earphone adapters to them and you'll hear this sub-bass without holding them pressed into your ears. Bug-funnels tend to hurt the treable but this combo sounds really good.

also what hifi described the s9 sound as "flat", "lethargic" and "stodgy" . I'm not sure what amp3 has got going with cowon but I hope it's worth it.

not overly impressed with this. sounds pretty good if a bit brittle however you adjust it ( flac and senhieser cx300 from currys not fake). doesn't take mp4 or iplayer files (so much for cowons plays everything rep. plays everything except what you want more like). looks rather ugly. bad fiddly controls. worth buying over others for volume otherwise a rather severe case of the emperors new clothes. also impossible to audition almost no high street shops sell it. not bad just way overated

@MrChrisgabber maybe. i've sold up and bought something called qls qa350. it's big and ugly, barely has an interface, only takes wav files and has a six hour battery life but sounds f**ckin incredible.

@teetpiece Are you kidding me?You will say that a cheap mp3 player that only supports wav files will sound better than the iaudio 9?I use Klipsch Image S4 headphones with the iaudio 9,and it's hard to top this(especially in this price range).

@MrChrisgabber it is cheap for uk but it's a lot of money in china where it comes from . something like that would cost a lot more from a shop in britain. I've got s4 also and they do sound much better than my old sennhieser. i've heard i9 and qls qa350 through the s4 and believe me the 350 leaves the i9 for dead. there r a lot of things to put up with with the 350 though.

Nope - we've not said that in any way. The S9 can cost twice as much as the i9 - we think it's great that the i9 has much of the quality of the S9 at a more mid-market price. The S9 is still the 'money no object' obvious choice.

2:50...I doubt that this normal LCD-Screen can beat the contrast of OLED screen...he's schmoozing here

We're not saying it beats an OLED screen - there's not a product in it's price bracket that has an OLED screen though. You can't compare a £100 product to products costing much more - in comparison to similar LCDs on the likes of the iPod Nano, it's excellent.
