The problem of the identity of the four brothers and three sisters of Jesus, mentioned in this place, did not exist in ancient times. Helvidius, the most ancient commentator on this passage, said that they were all the children of Mary and Joseph, born after Jesus was born. It was only in ages after men had invented religious doctrines incompatible with the obvious truth of Matthew's words, that ingenious interpretations were devised to relieve the embarrassment.

@pgmessage My authoriy comes from God's word, The word that the CC teaches from. But the CC does not even follow it's own scritures about Mary. It adds "tradition" which in this case does not follow its own biblical teaching. I hate the truth being twisted as you have done here. @pgmessage I am not subjective. Did you read what is says in Matthew 1:24-25. This is from the CC NRSV bible. Joseph had no marital relationswith Mary until she borne a son and he named him Jesus. So what is subjective? What does this mean? Joseph had a normal marital relationship which included sex with Mary. Not hard to understand is it? I grew up Catholic and go to mass and am in good standing in my local church. I have grave concerns when the CC does not address the truth of God

@pgmessage The Church of christian started after Christ died the Catholic church start in 312 AD when the Roman empire accepted it or at a latter date. The CC is from Jesus the Christ. Peter's confession is the Rock of the Church Not Peter himself. Even, St. Augustine agrees with Peter confession is the Rock of the Church. Many of the early church fathers taught this. So get off Matt16 as Peter is the found of the church. Jesus is the Rock.. I did listen to the video 2X . you are way off

Mary should have a special place in hearts. She witnessed her Son's death, trusted in Jesus for salvation. Loved her husband and had many loving children together. Was to see Joseph die prior to Jesus ministry. She loved Jesus and told anyone to follow what he says to do. She became a believer with Jesus brothers after Jesus rose from the dead and was with the Apostles form the coming of the HS. Act1. One of the first Christians. What a great witness to faith in Jesus.

Now - You appeal to the chruch fathers and 2,000 year of history. God word, the chruch bible teaches in Matthew 1:25. " 25 But he did not consummate their marriage until she gave birth to a son." So the CC bible teaches that Mary was not ever virgin, just a virgin birth. Look at Roman 5:12. Sin came from Adam, not Eve.

One was a name, the other was a comment. 7 days in Genisis and 7 days in John 1. I don't think that makes sence at all. One is a creation stroy, one is God coming to earth story. Adam and Eve are both humans. Jesus is God and Mary is human. not the same by any stretch. Are you saying Jesus sinned and was human. One to one. Poor teaching.

This video is a nice try to make Mary something she is not. Mary is not the new Eve. No where is scripture is taught. No where is Mary to be an kind of new Eve, or the Ark of God. Mary was a blessed women, sinner and had many children. History show Mary being confused by Jesus behaviors at 12 years old and as an adult. @LanaV6 You also should review what you believe. The CC own scripture don't teach any of what is in this video. Therefore, It comes from men and not God. God's word in Matthew 1;25-26 states that Joseph had sex with Mary after Jesus for born. So there goes the ever virgin part. And Roman 5 states that sin came from Adam, not Eve and therefor the Eve to Mary analogy is gone. So this Video is a "nice Try" but is teaching someting and Paul and Matthew, Apostles did not teach. Matthew 1 -23-26 Teaches the truth that Mary had SEX with her husband - Joseph. They were married so it was legal and a norm of marriage. To teach anything else would be to contradict God's word and I take God's word above any human words or teaching. Even the CC teaches this. Scripture is source ONE.

@LanaV6 The bible I pulled the verse from is the Catholic bible NRSV version. Not the King James version. Matt 1;23-26 . The verse says that Joseph had no marital relations with Mary until Jesus was born. This is not from the British Bible at all. The US catholic Bishops have approved this version. So what is so offensive to you. A true saint who has married another saint is having a normal marriage. Sounds like they both love God and do God will. Mary and Joseph a loving couple.

I hope Protestants see the errors in their personal interpretation of sacred scripture. There is but ONE truth and the Roman Catholic Church possesses it. Like three legs to a table, the Catholic Church has scripture, sacred apostolic tradition and the magisterium (teaching authority of the church) to guide us in the fullness of truth. There are over 30 thousand plus denominations all claiming to have the truth. Truth cannot contradict itself any more than God could contradict himself.
