  • that is not drifting

  • Nice slideshow...

  • Check our version out!

  • Back in 1967 (or so) there were a number of slot-car racing stores where you could rent time on the track and/or buy slot-cars. The trend just sort of evaporated for some reason. I'm surprised and happy people are playing with slot-cars in 2009! We had the home track but the commercial rental tracks were more fun.

  • I wonder why the H0 slotcars disapeared.. I have a TYco track and must go scratching part together from all over the world :(

  • @RacingTopsy They have not for me. I have been collecting and racing Tyco,AFX,Aurora T_JET for 38 years and I have 11Trophies. I have a fleet of 10,000 cars. I do restoration for various clients for fun as well as a well oiled business. My only crime is that I was too young when the slot car craze started.

  • i have those cars

  • thats not driftinf ur just fishtailing the car but take the magnet out and it will be much better

  • thats just fish-tailing

  • My brother has this type of trk and its taken up a entire floor or our garage but its quite fun to watch

  • I never really liked slot cars, maybe cause when i was younger my cousin stabbed me in the head with some of the tracks lol

  • lollollol

  • Haha, fantastic. :)

  • that was awsome!!! my brother and i did this when we were kids in the 70's.kind of a bad idea but we used to put a little water on the track in the corners, until our mom found out and sead we'ed set the house on fire...ha ha ha

  • nice was it me or did the firebirds front right wheel lift? lol.

  • cool

  • hey dude, heres some tips -

looks like your still running magnets - take them out! it feels much more realistic and you cann drift much better. and when u wana race jus slot them back in!

also, for CRAZY drifts put some tape over the tyres, its like running on ice lol

also sprinkle some baby powder on the track where ur gona drift for smoke effects!

    peaccee

  • thanks! i will have to try those!

  • i like your track those super birds really take off.i have a scx layout its a 3x5 set.i would like to make it larger some day.

  • thanks. i wanna make my track larger too

  • I used to very lighly smear the tiniest coating of sewing machine oil alongside the groove to width of the axles, just before a corner .. and they'd slide all the way around :P greta fun.. must get me a slot car again someday...

  • try to make a tight u turn and put a fly lola on there and drift it would look cool

  • wicked man how u do that?

  • just slow down then gun it around turns, but not too much or the car flies off. thanks for the comment!

  • nice! :P that looks interesting.........are you ever going to think about extending your track?

  • yes eventually

  • i can do this with the stripped tomato(starsky and hutch car)

  • would still be better i think if they actually drifted round the corners and not after them lol

  • I love slot cars but I had a really scrap setup. Then my friend game me a better set except it turned out the track was rusted so I still can't use it :(. anyway nice riding.

  • Scalectrix will allways be fun no matter what age !

  • it is not a drift scalextric its just the cars how can thay have so much grip at that speed

  • Right on!

    Good times!

    Screw video games....hahahaha.

  • This is really nice to see that slot cars are stil cool with todays young people. I grew up with slot cars and I own the very exact race set that these guys have. It is the Carrera Evolution featuring the Plymouth Superbird and the Plymouth Roadrunner stockers from the early 70's. Ole Dan Gurney.

  • yup, that's the set! slot cars are very fun, i love them.

  • cool superbirds

  • like the vid but if you took the magnet out and put a little weight on the cars the would drift like crazy

  • No offense but your grammar sucks.

  • it isn't his grammer, his grammer is shockingly good... it was his horrible spelling.

  • no offence 0.0

  • oh my gosh you did not just call that drifting. its called a slide you go in to the corner slow then give the little fuckers a huge gun outa the corner and the tyres slide out. that was not drifting drifting is a combination of using the handbreak clutch and accelerator to get your car side was befor during and after the corner going into another corner. but hey it is still fun to do. :)

  • yeah, we just did it for fun.

  • i know aye it is fun i did it when i was young but all i am trying to say is that it isnt drifting. hate the stupid fucks like dazada.

    good job bro.

  • part from you cant do any of that on a slot car :O

  • If the car is sliding sideways and the drive wheels are spinning, IT'S DRIFITNG.

    D-I-C-T-I-O-N-A-R-Y

  • cool footage

  • is it a eldon slot car track

  • no it's carrera

  • How much do you accelirate?

  • almost all the way, but not quite. it takes a bit to get used to

  • I sometimes do it with my porsche carrera, it has munda tyres

  • i just got a slot car track lol

  • i believe I'm dizzy.

  • lol

  • Dik, Carrera

  • ur just kickin the rear out at the very end of the corner

  • Awesome!! :-)

  • sweet i can do that to but most of the time i didn't mean it

  • Twas okay, But its not really a drift its more a controlled slide. Drifting is Popping the back out just before the turn and holding it right through the corner sideways. but is was okay, kinda impossible in Slot cars unless you have like a Hairpin

  • It's totally possible if you time it right and have the right kind of car. I used to do REAL drifting with my TT all the time before my local track closed. But it is next to impossible with these big Carreras because of their poor weight distribution and light weight. I know because I have a the "street version" of the blue superbird in this video. If you weigh them down they do a little better, but it's still easier and more effective to do this with smaller cars.

  • I love the look of the driver at 1:05. The concetration level is all over his face

  • yup, that's me! i really got into it.

  • you are "drifting" a little too late. it has to be AROUND the corner and not after. Try doing that

  • ive got a scaletric chevvy corvette, it drifts nicely like this.

  • It probably runs a lot BETTER than these do, actually.

I have the "street" version of the blue superbird seen in the video. It's underpowered and handles like a brick.

  • nice man, i got an afx slot car track not too long ago, seeing that inspires me to start trying to drift mine, u got any advice that could help get me started?

  • hmm. first try and run your car around the track and try to get it so you can several laps without having the car fly off. then once you know your a good driver, go slow until you get to a curve, then gun it. this takes practice though, so i suggest adding another magnet to the car

  • i just picked up a FLY lister storm 10th aniversario slot car at the vintage races in watkins glen. it's pretty cool.

  • how long did it take you to perfect it?

  • don't know really, maybe a week

  • Love the music, perfect!!!

  • what kind of motor do those have? mine have h2 super motors

  • kwl

  • nice!

  • dude, this is friggin awesome, but you have way too much time on your hands

  • too much time on his hand? no... you have too much time on your hands, mr. i sit on youtube all day commenting people with a blind eye... why don't you get a life first kk bud ^_~

  • this is not all i do, and i only spend like an hour on you tube a day.

  • Hey, what's the music running in the background?

  • its a rock remix tetris

  • I found out. The track has been arranged from an old traditional russian folk song which is called "Korobeiniki", and it has been released by Ozma under the same title on the CD "The Doubble Donkey Disc" released in 2002. Nice

  • More like fish tailing.

You're just "drifting" down the straights, as you come out of the curve. Drifting only helps in a race when you do it through a curve, to cut your lap times.

What you're doing here may look cool, but it's killing your lap times. If you want a real drifting car, pick up one of those new Scalextric models they have now with a rotating guide.

  • i just got a scalextric tvr tuscan, and i do like it better.

  • What's so good about drifting, it's cool, but what's so good about it? It looks so easy, but it's probably hard.

  • Well I think the drifting looks cool but gets u werecked in a race if u do it at the wrong time :(

  • should i leave a magnet in when i drift or take them all out?

  • Looks like you have the drifting down, huh?

    Cool video....

  • put vaseline on the tyres, i used to do this when i was little, and a little bit of household oil on the track does wonders!!

  • slot cars are NOT easy to drift...nice job

  • thanks

  • I have a slot car that fish tails/drifts real nice. And its not hard because it has like a rotatable paddle on the bottme that gose in the slot.

  • they only drit at the END

    that's what sucks

  • no dere are all drifts are you blind?

  • no if you knew anything about drifting you would know thats only fish tailing a drift is when your sideways in the trun no out I know becouse I drift

  • well first of all "turn" is spelt T U R N no T R U N and it still kinda drifting ^^
