@LoluskPoo However, intelligence is what helps you gain knowledge. Higher intelligence you have, the easier it is to grasp new concepts thus form new knowledge. As well as being able to deeply analyze new knowledge to create even more knowledge. Why do you think those with lower intelligence tend to have lower academic performance while those with higher struggles less?
@LoluskPoo Random facts have helped me on numerous situations. It has helped me comprehend the seriousness of various situations - some life threatening. An average joe knowing what is edible in the wild but always has been living in a city may find his edible plant knowledge useless - what if he takes a flight and ends up on an island? Bet your ass he may be the key to survival for the survivors.
Typical idiot you are, thinking random facts are useless.
@QuicksilverdotFX You clearly don't understand what i'm saying.. Life threatening? lol.. yeh if i man puts a gun to your head and says "Whats the capital of india or i'll shoot" sure. There is a big difference between survival facts and knowing the average amount of lipstick purchased each year
@LoluskPoo You clearly do not understand what you are saying. Random facts are VERY useful. If I had a gun on my head, I would know several facts to aid my survival. Depending on the trajectory of the pistol and the location it is pointing on my head - I can judge if it is lethal. Even if it was lethal, I still have very high chance of survival as I know human reflexes is uncontrolled in the subconscious mind. If I trigger the gunner's reflex, I buy myself time to grab the gun.
@QuicksilverdotFX Average amount of lipstick purchased each year can aid my marketing tactics and increase ROI. Every single random facts are helpful in many situations. Your feeble mind just do not know how to use facts accordingly. It requires intelligence to do so.
@LoluskPoo You're trying to say random facts are useless and never will be used in anyone's life. I have debunked this myth multiple times.
I knew the molecular structure of various polymer materials that has been mixed with tungsten and other elements. This useless info landed me a job that I never heard of. Polymer Extrusion Engineer. I never went to school for this, yet I scored a 70k/yr salary.
Gee, such useless information. Show me ANY random facts and I will show you why it's useful.
Wow. On the John Denver question for his answer he did all this thinking for it. I've never heard the song, saw Denver in the guys name and guessed Colorado
I like how Saget is trying to rationalize the answer: "You can't use someone else's makeup, you could get infected!". Like selling used airplanes online is so much more sensible...
I'm no genius, but I think given those three options it's quite obvious you can't sell used make-up on ebay. There would definitely be a hygiene issue otherwise.
@zerok98 Not really,b/c that show existed (in its "trivia-format") before Langan showed up. I think it's not meant to be "familiar". Let's presume you're right (presumably bending the format isn't too difficult a task...). Then they'd be obliged to find 100 fairly intelligent individuals, and appropriate questions to make Langan sweat a bit. Not a bad idea, and maybe (I don't know if it's still aired) it's not too late to propose it to show's executives. I bet Langan wouldn't show up...
@simplycomplicated333: Ferociously ... deep, where great whites feast on fleshy limbs in chaotic murk, trusting and thrashing limbs flail, frantically grasping ... air bubbles, as burgundine [aka burgundy] turbulence envelopes masters and prey, a new order unfurls from chaos, satiating blood lust for another day, 'til the morrow.
@1pineshooter1: LMAO!!! You clearly graduated, if you did, from the lower % of your class!! For starters, my own casual punctuation in my posts is ok online, but would fail in corp; but, clearly, my writing demonstrates that I know the rules! Whereas, being that you don't have a clue as to nor grasp advanced/sophisticated punctuation, re simple, compound and/or complex sentence structure & sharp syntax, u proceed, too dumb to know u're dumb, spamming superbright CarCritic: WTF bro
omg, that was fake!!! if there was about 85-90 people, and 50 of them chose the wrong answer, he chose to trust the mob. So being that 50 of them chose wrong and there was a total of about 90, then he should have lost, because 40 = LESS then 50. >.>
@neoman121 Trust the mob means choose the answer that the most picked. But there are three answers. So if, say, 30 people chose one wrong answer and 20 chose the other, then the largest number would still be 40, the group that chose right. Like how Mitt Romney got the most votes in the New Hampshire primary without getting a majority (because there were six candidates running).
that host pisses me off mocking him, this questions are random and idiotic you don't have to be smart to know them. plus chris would mark this guy in anything academic
Langan trusting the mob was a good strategy, like Galton and the ox weight guessing contest, though I think he was leaning towards make-up, even though he looked relieved and happy--and it was so close 39-38!! That question was nasty, but I think had he had to answer on his own he would have gone with make-up, given enough time to reason it through.
If there were only 90 something people left and when he trusted the mob and used the most used answer by them and then got it right...why did majority of them get it wrong?
He's obviously not exceptionally smart. Even though he got the questions correct his logic and reasoning isn't that good. The fact that he has to reason out the best 'guess' shows that he quite often does not KNOW the correct answers. Look up Pat Gibson or Kevin Ashman, the greatest quiz players alive at present.
He's really not the smartest man in in the world. If he was, he would be insane, not calm and collected. Being Smart means you know EVERYTHING, not just how to win.
some questions can be tricky though. A "truth" especially one determined by human judgment, has no obligation to be logical. We all know that there's some outrageously ridiculous laws in some states or countries, so if you were to put up a list and ask me wich one is false, I would probably fail to find the right answer if I were to decide on the basis of their purpose or their common sense. Same was for the make up and the airplane. I was ambivalent on this one.
lol it's so funny to read how well punctuated and sophisticated people's comments are on this video...just because its a video about a smart guy! people are trying to show off their intelligence here, but on other video's they comment like a retard lolol what is it with you think your smart?
Um... I would like a lot more proof than his arrogance and an IQ test to suggest he is a "Genius" I happen to know a true polymath and I question people who flaunt their capacity.
@silvastian not in the world, in america. Kim ungYong holds that title. with an iq of 210, higher than chris langans. And having an iq of 190 does not reflect on things youve already know, which is what trivia is. iq reflects how fast you COULD learn things.

@urcritic his estimated 195 IQ is certificated when he broke the ceiling on a standard psychology tested IQ test he probably have a much higher IQ though I am swedish and I apologize if my writing is misspelled or confusing
@ThePaul1E et alia It's not a problem in your writing. It's in your hasty conclusions regarding his IQ. You don't know enough about these matters, and you believe what you've read- that was written by people who either lye or don't know what they're talking about. There is no approved standardized (let's say official) IQ test that has such a ceiling. Number you gave stems from Mega test, but his 1st result gives different score (42 right out of 48, which is app. 176) which is doubtful too.

here on youtube, they are talking about the test i metioned in that video. trust I am right about this I have researched every piece of information thats out there regarding this. f
Are you fkn kidding me?? he actually said "no mom would name her son ringo" hmm how about "RIchard STARkey" might in some strang way connect to RIngo STAR" ,,,intelligence is about making connections, not about assumptions. this guy is a fraud
This TV show is phoney! look at 6:08, apart from 1 square blocked by the GSN icon at the top right, counting the red and blue panels gives 52 (or maybe 53) red (wrong) and 38 (or maybe 39) right...Yet the host says that 38 chose used DVD's, 39 chose used makeup...L0L this show is horrible! though I'm only judging it based on this 1 video
DUMB QUESTION CAN'T BE ANSWERED BY SMART PERSON. Your like asking a smart person, "Justin Bieber is gay or not?" A smart person would not watch Justin Bieber so he might say his not gay even though he is gay. Get me?? In this game you don't have to be smart but you have to be more experienced. =)
We seriously let people like these procreate?? Chris should be milked and made to impregnate those three blond chicks. The human race is on the line here.
@chaos850 Is it really all that ridiculous? I think it's fair to say at least half the people who suceed in anything in real life do it off the backs of someone else's incompetence/failures.

This game is ridiculous. You don't succeed by your own merit, but by the incompetence of others.

@chaos850 Think of it as a measure against the average, even though that's not what the producers focus on.

@chaos850 Is it really all that ridiculous? I think it's fair to say at least half the people who suceed in anything in real life do it off the backs of someone else's incompetence/failures.

@chaos850
I don't love the show either but that wouldn't be my criticism.
In this game as in any other competition between humans, your success depends both on your own capacity and you opponent's lack thereof. I'n'it?
