I saw Montrose last night and would encourage every fan of this album/era to go out and see the most recent incarnation of the band. Ronnie's chops, tone and phrasing are as good as ever and and the band flat out kicks ass. The set list includes every song from this album, plus a couple of others from subsequent albums, including I Got The Fire. Smokin set......
I have tinitus cause of this record and I dont give a shit! Awesome balls to the wall rock n roll! Chicks come and go but Montrose they're are forever! Brilliant! F**k now I am off 2 work in the toothpick factory.
I remember being 13 years old and my uncle, 16 at the time, turned me on to this album. It struck a chord with me and I've been rocking ever since. Still one of my all time top 5 albums. Maybe even number 1. Not a bad song on the entire thing! Ronnie's playing is spot on and Sammy is GREAT as always!!
Ah- 1976. Mott The Hoople, Ted Nugent, Foghat and of course Montrose. Sitting here with a scotch and water reminiscing of simpler times and better music. When someone can listen to music from over 30 years ago and still feel the same passion as if it was the first time they heard it says something .
This album set the standard for great guitar tone. Great songs. Great musicians. Great performances. My cover band did pretty much all of the songs on this album. Timeless. Ronnie's a GOD!!!
Straight ahead, no BS, cuts like a knife, the best damn pure rock album ever in my humble opinion. Not one bad cut on the entire album. I mean, come-on, what's not to like! Get some!
@sezwhom True, Sammy Hagar said there's no reason to try and top it, by doing another, but we could use a helluva lot more music and albums such as this slab of vinyl
QUITE SIMPLY, AS GOOD AS IT GETS In ALL RESPECTS - THIS IS WHAT REAL HARD ROCK SOUNDS LIKE - RECORDED LOUD and LIVE IN THE STUDIO ON 2 INCH TAPE and ONLY 8 TRACKS - THIS IS THE RECORD THAT PUT TED TEMPLEMAN ON THE MAP. SAMMY WAS A SCRAWNY KID WHO WANTED TO BE A ROCK STAR - RONNIE, THE UNHERALDED AXEMAN EXTRAORINAIRE ALWAYS, WILL BE JUST WHAT HE WANTED TO BE - JUST A PURE MUSICAL ARTIST and PERFECIONIST, WHO TOTALLY KICKS PHUKKING ASS ON GUITAR !!!!!!!
Me and my best friend took this lp to school when it came out everyone at school said it sucked ,,my buddy,, Ike and i just looked at each other smiled and said they dont know shit these stupid kids
Simply the greatest rock album ever. No pretentious bullshit , no "7 minute epics", no all sitting in a row with acoustic guitars,no drum solos,no "shouty" singing , no Guest stars , no fillers...just brilliant song after brilliant song. Love SH's little vocal ad libs and growls , not to mention the perfect guitar - never too much ; never too little. This LP crackles with the real spirit of rock and , probably unwittingly , is a work of f***ing genius. Thanks for sharing , brought it all back.
We played this whole album. My guitar player Frank Duvall absolutely loved Ronnie. I had a pretty big mancrush on Sammy too. Best party album of all time.
Favorite Rock album of all time! I have all Montrose on vinyl, my precioussssss
