My dad is currently working in Chile and he told me the real story.

Gas was subsidized in the region, so it was cheap. The government decided to end gas subsidies which raised prices to normal. Now people are unhappy because they are not used to it and depend on gas to live.

Just another way the government gets involved in things it shouldn't and then when it tries to correct the problem, riots break out. It's the everlasting failure of socialism. Look at France.

I can't understand why there's a higher price increase for gas when the State owns the petroleum company?
