The corruption still exists, INTO 2009----India Like Saudi is still buying the bulk of its military systems from foreign sources; just recently a $1.1 billion air defense system.....NO CREDIBLE POWER RELIES ON FOREIGN SOURCES OF ARMS...you make your own, and if they are crap at first, you continually invest, research and improve them over time.....Russia, China and the USA do not buy their military equipment from foreign countries...so why is India...ANSWER..CORRUPTION.
India is fucked up because of these sick politicians.. we have hope because there are people like tarun tejpal who dare to show us the real face of the political class of India...
What a melodrama by Jaya Jaitely?? After being caught on camera still she is bullshitting that she is the most honest women out there. Corrupted hag...accept fact and step back...
at 14:00 she says she didn,t remember it ,not for a moment ,lmfao -what she meant is she did it so many times she could not remember one from the other, and to think she bluntly says govt are powerful people like she is a queen ,govt officials are by the people for the people they are not suppose to be powerful people they are suppose to be servants
Lol the Indian govt has nearly closed him. If it was not for him then there will be still be corruption in military. Again lol we all know Indian military prefers foreign weapons look at their opposition to LCA and Arjun. Still there is corruption.
Haaha! Politicians & defense personnel of the 'democracy of hypocrisy' unmasked in public eyes on television. All the best to those Tehelka ppl who risked their lives to get the truth out to the public; unfortunately the world's largest democracy is found wanting on integrity & open-ness towards media freedom as is evident from this video. One wonders, how much of Indian claims to fame are real & hoaxes after this
Regardless, we are still doing better than your nation. At least, our corruption comes to light thanks to Tehelka and the freedom of press is still alive is indicated by this documentary illustrating the role of corruption in shutting down a news channel. If I were you, I'd worry about my own nation, unlike several nutjobs (like you) on both sides of the fence who get off on viewing the another nation's misery. Grow up!
Haaha! Typical Indian logic. Tehelka is NO MORE cuz ur govt & its agencies shut them down. This documentary is abt how freedom-of-press has been KILLED in India by showing what Indian authorities did to Tehelka for exposing Indian politicians. IF there was freedom, Tehelka would still be alive in all its glory. I dont have to worry abt Pakistan, there are hundreds of pvt Pakistani channels & they discuss anything & evrything, no one has shut them down. Instead of empty rants, go free ur press
As you can see, the Tehelka website still functions. Mine might be a typical Indian logic, but it's a more reasonable one. Yours relies on relishing the misery of others, while you keep sinking into your own misery. Enjoy it while it lasts.
Yeh Tehelka website still functions since Tehelka is a hollow-shell of its past. It has been crippled by Indian agencies, its assets seized, its image tarnished, virtually bankrupted by Indian authorities overnight for exposing the truth about their underhanded politics. No one is relishing anyone's misery. Sympathy is being expressed with Tehelka here, if you fail to understand such basic things, it makes one wonder why u're even here wasting my time.
Your initial retort can hardly be expressed as "sympathetic." The statement "Democracy of Hypocrisy" is a clear verbal attack, don't you think? FTR, I haven't seen of a Pakistani news channel ever trying a valiant attempt as Tehelka did to uncover political corruption. Such a bold act was bound to invite backlash, and it did. When an investigative report of such magnitude happens in your nation, we'll discuss what happens in the aftermath. Agreed?
Haaha! An expected reply. 'Democracy of Hypocrisy' is what India is, no more, no less. Pakistani News channels have a more holistic approach towards such issues so to compare two approaches on the same level is quite absurd..
Here's an interesting statistic. The Transparency InternationalcCorruption Perception Index (CPI) for least corrupt countries places Pakistan at 140 and India at 75 (2006 data). Perhaps your corrupt machinations won't even allow a buccaneer investigative channel like Tehelka to even exist??
'Perception' index. Haaha! Thats the best you can come up with? Reality is far from 'perception'. No one is saying corruption doesn't exist in Pakistan, but it exists mostly at the lower-levels NOT like what Tehelka uncovered in India. What strikes me as hilarious is every Indian kid's attempts to quickly start comparisons with Pakistan when Pakistan is NOT even mentioned in the video, nor in my first comment. Learn to discuss 'India' as a stand-alone topic for once.
True, Pakistan is not mentioned here, but I am positive where you come from. Your videos are quite indicative of that. Deny all you want, but you're just like that "Indian kid" you say who wants to gloat in the neighbor's misery.
CPI is the accepted standard for measuring corruption. You're using semantics to discredit what's real. Did you also know that the freedom of press is more in India than Pakistan? Read the Reporters Without Borders' index on that. I quote stats, you merely gloat.
Haaha! 'videos', I have ONE video uploaded and that also to unmask Indian intelligence agencies' acts. Your whining has proved nothing.
CPI is what it is, a 'perception' index. Am sure you do not have the time to go through the limitations & drawbacks of the said so-called 'standard'. Reporters Without Borders may say what they want, they also provide reasons for why they say what they do, the criterion used, etc. This video is also a fact, not gloating. Learn to accept reality..
I accept reality better than most. It's you who's in denial of accepting what your intentions are. Still, I wonder, like I mentioned earlier, if Pakistan's press is indeed HOLISTIC or if you even know what the word means. Now would be a good time to Wiki it.
Typical Indian mindset. 'Holier than thou' attitude. No surprises here. Obviously you seem to be a fan of Wiki which compels to suggest that heap of garbage to me.
Lastly, I have this to say. I have quoted statistical data from 3rd party sources, and yet you have done nothing but issue non-verifiable statements and trash talk. The video is a fact, yes, and those statistics are also facts cos those "perceptions" were not pulled out of a hat. It's also your nation that underwent a press-ban when martial-law was declared (as did ours during Emergency). Bring me facts, and we'll discuss more or keep resorting to inane remarks and giving me the "thumbs down."
No need to get all defensive. What you are saying is nothing new. Pakistani press has undergone massive change in the past 5yrs and today, the result of that is unmistakable if you happen to tune in to one of the media outlets. Lets talk facts to calm ur hormones. 2006 CPI put India at 75 & Pakistan at 140. This is 2008, current CPI puts India at 85 & Pakistan at 134; which country has done more to combat corruption? Do the math..
So now we quote statistics and are using "perceptions" (gasp!) for corroborating your point? ;) I am amazed. Did you check out the REPORTERS WITHOUT BORDERS index too?
BTW, I am all calm, dude, but I am still waiting for your take on how "HOLISTIC" Pakistan's press is. You haven't given me an answer yet. Plus, I duly note your thumbs down for my previous statement ;) ;)
I still dont take the 'perception' index seriously, my point was to show you that even IF your reliance on CPI was taken, you still dont earn a browny point.
Yes I did take a look at R.H.B but there's no real point, they're 2008 index is based on 2007 events [Pakistan being under dictatorial rule + Nov07 Emergency Rule]. Keep ur fingers crossed for next report. Democracy is back & ur attempts to score browny points are losing effectiveness.
The RWB also indicates the score for years BEFORE the Emergency, and the ranking is STILL lower than India's. Talking of which, did you ever have a radical journo channel such as Tehelka? Exposing corruption first-hand in your nation would also create a furore, and we'd see if such a channel would exist after that. Still, good luck with the democracy and keep your fingers crossed for it to hold ;).
No brownie points intended, btw, considering another of your thumbs down is duly noted :D
Perhaps I should remind you that Pakistan was under dictatorship since late 1999? Its not rocketscience that its media-freedoms will be lower. World doesn't go around on IF & BUT; u're pathetic attempts to defend Indian authorities brutality towards Tehelka is pointless.
Yes democracy is there in Pakistan & steps are being taken to make sure it is 'genuine' democracy; not another 'democracy of hypocrisy' like the one that exists next door..
Watch an episode of shows such as 'Live with Talat', 'Capital Talk', 'Off the Record' currently airing on Pakistani Channels. You'd have an idea of what their 'holistic' approach is all about. And congrats! Indian authorities just banned all Pakistani channels in J&K yet again after they realized Kashmir has almost slipped out of their hands; what Pakistan did 30% off since 1990, Indians have done 70% themselves since early August 2008..
I don't get those channels in the USA, but I'll catch them whenever I can. The fact that Indian channels were being "aired" in Pak, and vice-versa is news to me. I thought both nations practiced media ban from the other side. In 1990, India had but 2 channels and I'd still like a third-party report on the 30% ban on your side and 70% on ours. Seems speculative to me. That said, I'd still like to know YOUR definition of "holistic approach." You haven't given me that yet, y'know.
When I mentioned 30% & 70%, it didnt refer to media-bans, I was referring to Kashmir breaking away from the forced annexation by India. Pakistan did 30% job to make Kashmiris aware but India did the rest 70% this past August of 2008. Now Kashmir is up in flames, Indian authorities have resorted to brutality as usual. Pakistani channels are banned when Pakistan has nothing to do with the current J&K situation. My definition of holistic doesnt matter, Pakistani channels' one does.
Forced annexation? The King of Kashmir essentially signed off to become part of the Indian republic upon attacks by mercenaries which started the 1948 war. Still, your "70-30 thing" is still nothing but speculation till you point me to a 3rd party source.
Your definition of Holistic is important because it shows what exactly YOU perceive as "holistic" in Pakistan's channels. Like I said, I doubt you even know what it means. I have two papers on holistic approach to engineering education.
Yes, FORCED annexation. We all know under 'what' conditions was the Maharaja signed over Kashmir to India. Today we see Kashmiris putting up Pakistani flags on their houses on 14th August and BLACK flags on 15th August. It doesnt take a rocketscientist to figure out where their allegiance lies.
Your simply engaging in rhetorical polemic by dragging in semantics now, waste of time.
Just saw a bit of Talat Hussein's show and it doesn't seem too far away from Karan Thapar's. Have you seen his episode where he grills Narendra Modi? Still, I think both are shows, i.e., sensational spectacles, & the grilling is part of the act. Tehelka will be one of the rare channels to tread a very dangerous path and pay the consequences for it, and it'd be interesting to see what a similar channel in Pakistan can uncover. BTW (redundant, I know), do you have a channel like that in Pakistan?
Again, pointless comparisons. The amazing part abt the Indian mindset is its obsession with everything Pakistan-related. Tehelka's appraoch was 'shock & awe', current Pakistani news media approach is different as stated before. U r merely repeating urself & splitting hair. Either u have loads of time on ur hands or u jst like wasting others'..
You are wrong in assuming everything is Pakistan-related. Indian channels do discuss contemporary issues related to domestic problems. Karan Thapar's show is almost entirely related to domestic issues. Do your own research first.
Still, I am waiting for your definition on "holistic approach." You are, as I can see, skirting the issue. Looks to me you don't even know what the word means.
Haaha! A bird dies in India, India's tiger population declines, too much heat in the summer, its all Pakistan-ISI fault according to Indian government & news media. I dont have to even say much, a simple glance at the ridiculous gibberish coming out of India is enough.
You can continue to whine abt meaning of holistic approach and what not, when both u n I know, there's not much to drag on the subject abt. I'm not here to entertain ur childish desires of scoring browny points.
I'm glad to see some "holistic" observations in your rebuttal, which only goes to show your absolute ignorance towards the Indian media, which is ironic considering you actually "lauded" Tehelka? Since you have failed in your attempts to attest the holistic nature of Pak's channels and provide 3rd party sources for your observations, there's no point continuing. I actually was hoping to know more about Pak's "holistic channels" (rolls eyes). Thanks for the laffs! :D
I guess u learned that others wont simply do things to please what momentary seizures u may be going through. Hair-splitting & showboating is pointless..
Here's wishing you and your buddies a very Happy Holiday season, filled with endless hours of "Thumbs-Downing" my retorts. Hope that fills your hearts with endless happiness ;)
Dont be sad abt others not liking ur rhetorical polemic and using their youtube given power to use thumbs-down or thumbs-up. Showboating isn't helping your cause I would imagine..
