I had the exact same opinion about SGU. And then I watched the entire show. Now I miss it. I also miss SGA and SG-1, as well. Although SG-1 kinda really did come to the end of the line, but yes, SGA could have gone for a long time, at least two-three more seasons. So much cool stuff happening, and they just shut it down. We can only regret it, unfortunately...

I guess it's one of those deals where it's not everybody's cup of tea, huh? And that's perfectly normal, not everyone can like everything there is out there, of course. And I agree completely, the SGA story still needed a lot of finishing and touching up, but something tells me we won't be getting that, unfortunately. It would really be interesting to see how things progress after they return to Earth. As it is, they left the show dangling and the fans craving for more...

I actually gave up on the show too, but I had recorded the last episodes, so I decided to watch them regardless, and boy was I glad I did. I went from not caring for the show, hating that it took the place of SGA, but those last few episodes made the whole thing worth it and it plains me to see the show get cancelled in a state of such potential.

Best Stragte Series after SG-1, its a new different Story and not the "Gate-Enemys-Kill-Back" Story and you learn more about the characters...Season 1 was little bit lame, but Season 2 was so much better...and this Cliffhanger End is bad...The Destiny can do this Jump, will Eli be alive after, which new adventure they will do in the new Galaxy and which Signal the Destiny found...so many open Questions and a End with no Answers...
Season 2 has been fantastic but it will end on the note that will leave the fans of SGU wondering just how well the show would have done had it been given just one more season. Instead, the entire Stargate franchise is going to be mothballed for some time just like Star Trek. Star Trek: Enterprise ended in 2005 and it's now been six years and there is still no sign of that coming back in a fresh new form.
@JeremyC7595 - Actually, the producers had a 5 season plan for this show, so I dont know what you're talking about. As for the SGA movie - the script has been written for some time now, although that's as far as the atlantis movie has gone since its cancellation.

I watched the first season and a bit of the second and I can say that this show sucks. They could have had a great story if they would have stuck with the "we're a million lys from home and need each other to get back" plot. There is too much backstabbing and doublecrossing for a group of people who should be working together. I mean SG-1 and the Atlantis team have been in situations where it was possible they may not make it home and they didn't act that way.
It's ridiculous how short people's attention spans are... if the show doesn't grab them within the first 20 seconds it's decided to be crap.
I think SGU is getting better and better. SG1 and Star Trek TNG were notably rather bleh in the first two season, but then they both got really good. SGU has a lot of potential, and hopefully it'll be given the chance to grow.
@plasmapuppy I know what you mean. What happened to the days when a show could pace itself? Nowadays if a show goes an episode without a gunshot or an explosion, people assume its going downhill. I mean look at Wormhole X-Treme! That show had loads of potential.

@pricture well i like the soundtrack. But in what you reffer when you say "build up" All the sci fi shows i have seen were good from the begining and later turned weak. The only one that was not like that was babylon 5. But that was because they totally changed everything in the second season.
For most of the time when a show is good, people watch it for that. No one is gonna really bother watching something that aint interesting, hoping it will become later.

@angryaznman SGU is great if you want characters and not run and gun action. It's more like Battlestar Galactica in tone. It's far grittier, the characters are not perfect and there is butting heads and like 5 sex scenes in season one. Not even remotely explicit.
@billyboy385 You referring to Scott and Chloe, cause Scott wasn't engaged or married he was 26 and Chloe was post college working for her father and she was 23. Eli being the other guy. Eli had a crush on her. He never acts on it. She doesn't feel the same way. What is so wrong and unbelievable about that? Seriously I have more issue with the fact most of the stories were on earth earlier on with the stones than the original Scott/Chloe and Eli's crush he gets over.
I will say SG-1 and SG-A it was more or less the same things happening. E.g. new planet, something rapes Shepard, lots of talk with communities that have no technology. Then Shepard revenge rapes the thing that raped him. I hot bored after the first series and gave up on it. SG-U is almost like a different show in with its attitude and mature story

@zabadibzabzab In my opinion, SGU has a much greater focus of what happens to people on the fundamental level when put in a situation where there is little hope of escape, and also great stress. SGU is very personal, whereas SG1 and SGA were both a focus on the larger story. I haven't decided which I like better.

the thing that i really like about SGU, that many fans dont like though, are the intense conflicts between the main characters. like rush vs young, rush vs telford, the role Eli and the IOA lady (gosh i keep forgetting her name) take in between the positions... awesome.

Neh, they've done a pretty good job regarding integrating the old with the new. Possibly some of the pilot episode's "code" for the DHD, but all in all, not blantant disregard for any established things.

For most of the time when a show is good, people watch it for that. No one is gonna really bother watching something that aint interesting, hoping it will become later.

@plasmapuppy thats very true but now that its cancelled some people are trying to get it back up. people should really think and compare it to sg1 and sga......the concept is new and better and because these people have short attentions spans its possible that sgu ( now cancelled ) is the last of the stargates

@angryaznman i just hated seeing some 16 yr old having sex (multiple times) with some 22 yr old who's engaged or married if i remember, because he 'understands' what she's going through, all the while knowing another (though more legit) guy is trying his best to reach her and she either unwillingly or willingly teases him, or the annoying secrets people have because no trust.. i didnt make it past mid season 1 and i may give it another chance to improve over time but i hate its guts over that

@angryaznman SGU is great if you want characters and not run and gun action. It's more like Battlestar Galactica in tone. It's far grittier, the characters are not perfect and there is butting heads and like 5 sex scenes in season one. Not even remotely explicit.

@billyboy385 You referring to Scott and Chloe, cause Scott wasn't engaged or married he was 26 and Chloe was post college working for her father and she was 23. Eli being the other guy. Eli had a crush on her. He never acts on it. She doesn't feel the same way. What is so wrong and unbelievable about that? Seriously I have more issue with the fact most of the stories were on earth earlier on with the stones than the original Scott/Chloe and Eli's crush he gets over.

I will say SG-1 and SG-A it was more or less the same things happening. E.g. new planet, something rapes Shepard, lots of talk with communities that have no technology. Then Shepard revenge rapes the thing that raped him. I hot bored after the first series and gave up on it. SG-U is almost like a different show in with its attitude and mature story

cant wait for season 2. really awefull that there wont be a conclusion to SG-A but SG-U deserves better and has some great potential, especially as it brought a lot of drama and personality into stargate context. sure, SG and SGA had great characters too, even SGU cant beat Rodney but still. they set up something great and it wouldve been a shame if it had been cut after season 1 :)

@zabadibzabzab In my opinion, SGU has a much greater focus of what happens to people on the fundamental level when put in a situation where there is little hope of escape, and also great stress. SGU is very personal, whereas SG1 and SGA were both a focus on the larger story. I haven't decided which I like better.

Somehow Eli looks a bit "punky" in these videos, his hair is not as "geekstyled" as it is in the actual series ^^
the thing that i really like about SGU, that many fans dont like though, are the intense conflicts between the main characters. like rush vs young, rush vs telford, the role Eli and the IOA lady (gosh i keep forgetting her name) take in between the positions... awesome.
their opponents that suddenly show up in 11/12 have not convinced me yet though. well ill keep "on".

Neh, they've done a pretty good job regarding integrating the old with the new. Possibly some of the pilot episode's "code" for the DHD, but all in all, not blantant disregard for any established things.
