i know lots of people on here loved their taurus/sable..but i bought a '97 gs for my first car a few months back, its getting my to and from, hasnt broken down yet which is good, but i dont know if anyone else here has had their car.....pulse, so much that the front passenger seat actually visibly vibrates, kinda funny, it has its quirks..ok ive been lieing haha i love that car
@SECURITEH .....I bought a nice 2005 sable LS station wagon a few weeks ago. Real nice car. They did not change the body design all that much over the years
My first car was a baby blue '91 Mercury Sable, and even though the transmission failed, twice, and often had trouble shifting into first, I loved that car more than anything. I miss it dearly.
i'm glad it came back after a 2 year hiatus, sad that the sable's gone and mercury for that matter, but buying my 5th one maybe biases me towards taurus's,don't care I still LOVE them!!!
This video choked me up. I'm on my second 92 Taurus. The first one died when I got rear ended by an F150 doing about 50 mph. Rust in peace baby. If you drive one of these priceless classics make sure you pull the headrest up. Mine was down and the whiplash almost tore my head off. I'm thankfull to Ford for building these cars so safe and to Jesus for looking after me. Thank you Jesus! I know this isn't a religious video but when I think about that wreck I have to give Him glory.
i also have a gen4 ses sport with gen3 sho chrome wheels that i decided to s/c wit an em90. they were suppose s/c the gen4 (2000) sho...we all kno that didnt happen. gen3 sho owners and the gen4 ses duratec were robbed of really nice designs. through need comes invention...i have a 97 sho tt. a v8 sho with 2 civic turbos rear mounted. i have the fastest sho on the planet. my 03 s/c has never lost to a gtp. if ford got around to the gen4 sho in 2000 then it wouldve changed the game. its a shame.
no gen3 sho's i c. thats alright...it was the out cast of the taurus fam. thats why i luv it. i have 3 gen3 sho's. i only wish ford invested as much money in the gen3 sho as they did in the previous 2. if they would've finished what they started then every one and their mother would have wanted it. they had a company design a body kit for the gen3 sho in 99 lol. the "taurus rage" and a 4.6L v8 much like the continental. they settled on a 3.4v8 and didnt even use the intake that was designed.
I will always keep my 2000 Taurus SEL and my 2003 Sable LS Premium. best cars in the world and yet people neglect and destroy these beauties because of there transmissions that require proper care. so rest in peace to those sitting in the junkyard with a blown tranny or from abuse and long live the tauruses and sables still on the road today giving your owners plenty of comfort saftey and space and technology..why ford why did you kill two great cars of america. 93 Cougar XR7
Bro, this is so cool, i just got my first car and it's a Taurus Wagon 89, i really love this cars, these are the good ideas, when they were making cars thinking about class, quality, comfort, and everything was great on those years. It's so sad to know that that class of fine cars had an end you know? i've always loved this cars, and now my dream came true i got one!! poor baby, it was dusty and so abandoned, but it's now my baby!! love the ford classics. Thanks from mexico for the upload!!
i have a mercury sable wagon runs very good down with that chrisler dodge garbage and now its owned by a foreign company. the sable is the most reliable car i ve ever owned. keep buyig foreign and soon we all will be working for them
I used to have a 94 taurus wagon my parents gave to me after I wrecked my first car, I loved that thing fully loaded with leather, sunroof, center armrest, keyless entry, power everything. Despite all it's problems I miss that car.
I have a 1998 SE with 214k miles and counting and it still runs great on its original engine and tranny! I love the Taurus! So glad they started making them again
im a chevy guy and always will be but i own a 96 merc sable LS and it is one of fords finest iv raced many people and beat them and i also beat the fuck out of the car but it keeps on going i mean i have jumped it went muding in it iv done it all and nothing breaks its the engerizer bunny of cars
Its so sad what ford did to the Taurus...it truely did save them in the 80's when they stopped making the Taurus ... I bought an accord, and to say the least cried...I had so many Taurus's....and miss them greatly
I've had many Taurus cars over the years, and even a few hot rod SHO's...I'll never stray from Ford, first car was a '90 Taurus L, then had a '92 L (last year for the L) then a '92 SHO, '93 SHO (auto), '95 GL sedan, '95 SE, '97 LX (durateck) '98 SE...just bout a '89 SHO and am giving it te attention it deserves. How did a Accord come in? this is a strait up american sedan no japanse crap here 5 stars on the video and these cars rocked an era, and its because of jap cars that american cars suck, they killed the muscle cars with such cars as "the Accord" and the "CIvic that every 18 year seems to have with a can, sorry but i really hate Honda's lol
Good thing they brang em back. That was NOT a Bold Move. [Old Ford Slogan When They Discontinued the Taurus] Although, I noticed a typo at the end. The Ford Taurus ended production in 2007.
All i know is when the 2010 Taurus come out, I hope Ford really understands not to ever Fuck over this car again.Over the years like the Commerical said they took the Best ever selling car ever and flushed it down the pipe.I have a 1994 Ford Taurus GL.(Electric Red with the Old 3.8V6. 2years ago the HeadGaskets blew out. Took it to the repair shop. the guy said "I would send this piece of shit to the junk yard."2 weeks after shes was fixin and runnin good .I drove down there and hit that guy...
I punched the fuck out of him..and i laughed and said "Send your piece of shit to the junkyard, I Got in my old Taurus which now has a little of 300k mi and burned out leavin...(She burns a little oil ever now and again still get 28mpg and have drove to Chicago this past winter in it and gave me not one problem...Like my key says Family of Fine Cars.I will drive this car till the engine goes.ha ill just rebuild it and keep on drivin..
Check the sales statistics for 2000-2005, they basically tied. But i Prefer a Taurus. Reason: tough, good looking, powerful. I drive one, my mom, dad, grandparents own 3 of em, and 2 uncles. We love em!
Though I do like the Accord, it doesnt seem to have that look that the beloved Taurus does. I'v drivin a 2003 Accord with ha Vtec as a rental car, i noticed it doesnt have the power the 24V Duratec DOHC Taurus has which is the one i got. Accord does have the comfort of the taurus though. But it isnt a Taurus.
My friend has Mercury Sable 1988 and he is very satisfied by it, because this car combines comfort and also easily consume gasoline with 92 octane number while other european cars consumes only 95 octane number gasoline. Generally in Russia it is possible to buy wrong(that not conforms to standards) only 95 octane number gas. If your car use 92 octane number gas, you need not worry that will happen car damage due to wrong fuel.
Ford made such a massive error when they dumped the Taurus for the overweight, poorly proportioned Five Hundred. Nobody wanted them. Then Ford decides to resurrect the Taurus name and slap it on the Five Hundred. Still, nobody wanted them. Is there any hope for Ford???????????????????
To all you people out there and own a Ford Taurus/Mercury Sable, and that like the vehicle a lot, i give thanks to buying one because i own a 1999 Mercury Sable now and i love the car to death lol. I love my Sable more than the Taurus, it looks better for some reason, trunk space is awesome. Engine/Tranny is awesome too.
This comment has received too many negative votesshow
some white asshole with a shaved head flipped me off in a 1996-2003 ford taurus today. he had an ugly ass big brown dog, with no fucking fur in the back seat. driving one of those fucking white taurus's. he was making an illegal u-turn in the left hand lane as I was making a right turn. how the fuck am I supposed to know he was going to do that?
I cut him off obviously, which resulted in him going to the left of my car, honking, then flipping the bird. fuck you guys with Taurus's.
Oh, sorry about that! You see, I actually was trying to rush to a veterinarian a dog with mange that I had just found. If you don't know about it, it must be that some prankster stuck a "Dogs must die!" bumper sticker on the side of your car. I had to shave my head to avoid getting mange.
Ford really did their homework with these cars. My buddy has a 01' Mercury Sable and that motor/tranny combo runs strong and is stone-axe dependable. And we dont take it easy but it still runs great. Rides great. Looks great. It is great. The new ones (08) just dont have that same life as the old ones did.
Ok the Taurus isn't the fastest or the sportiest car but it is dependable. My mom has owned 2 Taurus' so far and hasnt had any problems whereas my car (a GM btw) has gone through 2 engines and 3 transmissions. I wish I would have bought a Taurus because I dont like spending all my money on keeping my car running.
I love crown vics. The only reason I don't have one is because I can not afford to buy the gas for one. But they are just beautiful cars, esp. the older ones 1990-95 and then the newest models.
well,ajaxspray2,my brother's 97 exped.,he sold to a mech.cuz it needed a $3500 front end repair-only 95000 mi..ihave an 86 sable(since 2002)only prob is trans-and every 11/2 years some electrical problem(on generator #4,151,000mi.)
Alright it's time to stop buying toyotas. The Sable and Taurus are back and better than ever. I had a 1993 taurus that lasted forever and got great mileage. I sold it to get an expedition but god I miss that car. The Sable and Taurus are the best sedans in the world.
We've still got our 94 Sable Sedan but just had the transmission replaced with a rebuilt transmission - lost all it's extra "get up and go" A shame because we love that car - my husband's Dad helped us pick it out. He had dimentia and it was the last experience he was ever really able to share completely with my husband. sigh...
Wow, I cannot believe I started to get choked up. I love the Taurus, my first car was a '95 Taurus (the last "box" before they went to the "bean"). My second car was a 2000 model, still runs great, can't wait to get my hands on an '08 :D.
Taurus and Sable were and are great cars. The 96-99's were unfortunate in their looks but they are back and they look better then ever. Can't wait for the 2010's, stop buying Toyotas people!
Great Video, Can't believe I was getting a little choked up by the end. I had a '93 Sable that I loved. These were great cars and I am glad to see Ford bring them back. The third generation (DN101) was a completely new car although it shared some components with the 1st and 2nd gen. Mary Walton wrote a book about it titled "CAR", It's a fascinating read even if you aren't a big fan of the Taurus.
My mom had a 2001 Mercury Sable LS Prem. bought it new in 2000 and its now mine and it has 98,000 miles on it and its going strong as ever. Never had a problem with it at all. Its the best car my family ever had and the 2008 Sable looks great. Thanks for the video it was awesome.
I still have my 1990 Ford Taurus Station wagon I don't drive it alot its A spair car, but everyday I have to go drive it around the block A few times, It has 213,785 Miles!!! I think its going to die soon :( I SURE HOPE IT DON'T!!!
if it runs ok don't worry. we had a 1994 ford but my dad sold it because it was "too reliable and had 240,986 miles on it with the factory engine and transmission. if ours was like yours, you may have it for a lot longer. (that would be weird.buy a car 30 years later it's still running.lol.)
Great video I LOVED IT!!!! my aunt She always drove GM vehicles. wEll the last time she bought a 2005 mercury sable. she absoulutely loves it. she said she will defintly be buying the new 2008 Mercury Sable! i work at a restaurant I had this one familyh that came in and had a 1995 ford taurus. They had 265,000 miles on it. Original engine and transmission. That was about 8-9 months ago. The other day I saw them driving in the same car! LOL it never dies.
It confuses me that Ford and Murcury used digital readout panels in their first generation Taurus & Sables. You would think that they would introduce it in a later model year. I guess they were just trying to stand out.
Pretty good tribute video. However I saw ONE fire breathing SHO (Super High Output) which won Ford a Car and Driver "Car of the Year" award. The first gen Taurus was available with a Yamaha built V6 through either a five speed standard or a four speed automatic with a factory bodykit and sport seats. Second generation SHO's looked more subtle and had a Yamaha V8 (now used by Volvo) sport seats and were automatic only.
Personally, as the "second gen" cars were just a mild reworking of the exterior, new interior, updated (and fewer choices) engines that I personally consider the "jellybean" to be the second gen. Of course I consider the entire "jellybean" lineup all the way to it's demise to be the second gen. I'm sure most fans and FoMoCo would disagree with me.
My Ford Taurus is very reliable i have over 350 000 km on the engine with little problems. The last car I had was a honda accord and it went at 465 000km I'm surprised at how long the Ford Taurus is lasting!
I grew up with a Ford Taurus wagon we had the car for 5 years and this vids bring back fun times in the taurus I learnt to drive in our car sad to see it gone forever even tho Ford brought it back in a new body shape it still wouldn't be the same again.
the taurus and sable definately were good looking cars. I'm glad that Ford and Mercury are bringing them back in '08. With luck, they might even bring back the SHO, but they should make more of them.
yeah the only thing is its not a true taurus.. fords first plan was to make all their vehicles names starts with "f"'s but they realized that wasnt a good idea.. so theyre simply renaming the Ford Five Hundred the Taurus
I just found out todayt that the redesigned 500 and Montego will be released with a lot of improvements and will return as the 2008 Ford Taurus and Mercury Sable this summer! Taurus Wagon returns as well as the Taurus X. So it's NOT the end of the era...you will have to update to add the Generation 5 cars!!!
I absolutely LOVE the 1st gen Taurus/Sable (1986-1991), the whole line. The 92-95 Tauruses and Sable (wagon only) are cool too. After that, they were totally neglected and became so ordinary. IT`s a shame Ford didn`t keep those cars up to date.
That was a great video. Our family bought an '86 Sable LS brand new in September 1985. Since then, my mom had a '92 LS and now has an '01 Taurus SE. My dad had an '88 Town Car, then an '88 Sable GS, and my step-mom had an '87 sable (can't remember which one). This car has been a big part of my childhood and this video brought back a lot of memories. Well done!
Sad indeed.. Eventhough I am a General Motors person, this is indeed a sad thing. I always liked the competition Ford gave GM... I admit to liking the Lincoln Town Car and Mark series and the Grand Marquis and earlier Sables.. So much is going away from American car makers...
I always loved the 1992 - 1995 Taurus and Sable, they were the most good looking sedans out there way ahead of their time, I can for see FOrd doing this to their Focus line up as well.. But for all you americans out there, Mercury ended in Canada in 1998.
i know lots of people on here loved their taurus/sable..but i bought a '97 gs for my first car a few months back, its getting my to and from, hasnt broken down yet which is good, but i dont know if anyone else here has had their car.....pulse, so much that the front passenger seat actually visibly vibrates, kinda funny, it has its quirks..ok ive been lieing haha i love that car

Tarus started of doing good but then the Accord blew it away.

Check the sales statistics for 2000-2005, they basically tied. But i Prefer a Taurus. Reason: tough, good looking, powerful. I drive one, my mom, dad, grandparents own 3 of em, and 2 uncles. We love em!
RifleMan80 3 years ago
dude the accord is the second only to the camry in sales theres no way they tied. The taurus isnt even a top selling car
1993hondaaccord 3 years ago
Though I do like the Accord, it doesnt seem to have that look that the beloved Taurus does. I'v drivin a 2003 Accord with ha Vtec as a rental car, i noticed it doesnt have the power the 24V Duratec DOHC Taurus has which is the one i got. Accord does have the comfort of the taurus though. But it isnt a Taurus.
RifleMan80 3 years ago 2
in 1992 the Taurus sold over 400k cars...
2004FordPowerstroke 2 years ago 3
so...the Honda accord is the world's 4th best selling car. I think the taurus is like 8th or 9th.

Que buen tributo a esos grandes autos.
PD:alguien me puede decir como se llama la cancion de fondo?
jura1189 3 years ago

300palms 3 years ago 2
To all you people out there and own a Ford Taurus/Mercury Sable, and that like the vehicle a lot, i give thanks to buying one because i own a 1999 Mercury Sable now and i love the car to death lol. I love my Sable more than the Taurus, it looks better for some reason, trunk space is awesome. Engine/Tranny is awesome too.

some white asshole with a shaved head flipped me off in a 1996-2003 ford taurus today. he had an ugly ass big brown dog, with no fucking fur in the back seat. driving one of those fucking white taurus's. he was making an illegal u-turn in the left hand lane as I was making a right turn. how the fuck am I supposed to know he was going to do that?
I cut him off obviously, which resulted in him going to the left of my car, honking, then flipping the bird. fuck you guys with Taurus's.
dave98503 3 years ago

Nothing drives like a taurus.
TheRob15 4 years ago
Ok the Taurus isn't the fastest or the sportiest car but it is dependable. My mom has owned 2 Taurus' so far and hasnt had any problems whereas my car (a GM btw) has gone through 2 engines and 3 transmissions. I wish I would have bought a Taurus because I dont like spending all my money on keeping my car running.

I love crown vics. The only reason I don't have one is because I can not afford to buy the gas for one. But they are just beautiful cars, esp. the older ones 1990-95 and then the newest models.

My second car was a 2000 model, still runs great, can't wait to get my hands on an '08 :D.
deezedayz 4 years ago
Taurus and Sable were and are great cars. The 96-99's were unfortunate in their looks but they are back and they look better then ever. Can't wait for the 2010's, stop buying Toyotas people!

I've made a new video about the 2008 Taurus/Sable. I've posted it as a video response.
hansonel 4 years ago
Great Video, Can't believe I was getting a little choked up by the end. I had a '93 Sable that I loved. These were great cars and I am glad to see Ford bring them back. The third generation (DN101) was a completely new car although it shared some components with the 1st and 2nd gen. Mary Walton wrote a book about it titled "CAR", It's a fascinating read even if you aren't a big fan of the Taurus.
commish199898 4 years ago
The 96-99 Taurus were crap. I have a 99 Taurus and the dashboard is coming up because ford used like super glue or some crap to hold it together.
SteelCity1981 4 years ago
My mom had a 2001 Mercury Sable LS Prem. bought it new in 2000 and its now mine and it has 98,000 miles on it and its going strong as ever. Never had a problem with it at all. Its the best car my family ever had and the 2008 Sable looks great. Thanks for the video it was awesome.

I still have my 1990 Ford Taurus Station wagon I don't drive it alot its A spair car, but everyday I have to go drive it around the block A few times, It has 213,785 Miles!!! I think its going to die soon :( I SURE HOPE IT DON'T!!!
doglover3198 4 years ago
if it runs ok don't worry. we had a 1994 ford but my dad sold it because it was "too reliable and had 240,986 miles on it with the factory engine and transmission. if ours was like yours, you may have it for a lot longer. (that would be weird.buy a car 30 years later it's still running.lol.)

I guess they were just trying to stand out.
musicmann1 4 years ago
Pretty good tribute video. However I saw ONE fire breathing SHO (Super High Output) which won Ford a Car and Driver "Car of the Year" award. The first gen Taurus was available with a Yamaha built V6 through either a five speed standard or a four speed automatic with a factory bodykit and sport seats. Second generation SHO's looked more subtle and had a Yamaha V8 (now used by Volvo) sport seats and were automatic only.
Medazzone 4 years ago
Actually it was the third gen that had the 3.4L Yamaha V8 (The ones that looked like a jellybean)
SableMerc00 4 years ago
Personally, as the "second gen" cars were just a mild reworking of the exterior, new interior, updated (and fewer choices) engines that I personally consider the "jellybean" to be the second gen. Of course I consider the entire "jellybean" lineup all the way to it's demise to be the second gen. I'm sure most fans and FoMoCo would disagree with me.
-Take Care
Medazzone 4 years ago
My Ford Taurus is very reliable i have over 350 000 km on the engine with little problems. The last car I had was a honda accord and it went at 465 000km I'm surprised at how long the Ford Taurus is lasting!

smartjunkie 4 years ago
the taurus and sable definately were good looking cars. I'm glad that Ford and Mercury are bringing them back in '08. With luck, they might even bring back the SHO, but they should make more of them.

I absolutely LOVE the 1st gen Taurus/Sable (1986-1991), the whole line. The 92-95 Tauruses and Sable (wagon only) are cool too. After that, they were totally neglected and became so ordinary. IT`s a shame Ford didn`t keep those cars up to date.
lcfanyc 5 years ago

OLDS98 5 years ago
I always loved the 1992 - 1995 Taurus and Sable, they were the most good looking sedans out there way ahead of their time, I can for see FOrd doing this to their Focus line up as well.. But for all you americans out there, Mercury ended in Canada in 1998.
