@reidy19841984 they have to because of safety precautions. they have that as a failsafe because of that vehicle were to crash, that would be 50 million dollars down the drain. so yes, there is a crane is the backgound but it's not helping the vehicle to fly.
What's wrong with the helicopter Robinson R-44, if computers can't help the average Joe fly it, why would an experimental flying "car" that can't remain stable in flight be any better,
there are fundamental steps taken out and replaced with a rich guys artistic vision...
Everyone thinks its fake, it's not it was on some future car program on the science channel the first time i saw it in like 2009... it's not fake they cant test it without cables cause it's like 50 a million piece of equipment..
@NinjaStealthCat Dude, the insurance company won't let them test it without cables cause it cost 50 million. All VTOL aircraft, flying cars or hover jets start testing like this.
I been following this vehicle since 2001, and nothing has changed.
Engine dies in a plane and a flexing Microlight you have a glide of about 500 to 1000 ft per minute making it relatively safe to land. This thing would fall like a brick ! Don't think it could ever get approved, give him credit though, very very nice design a lot of hard works gone into this.
@finchpaul Same with a helicopter... But you see them flying around. Not that I think this will ever, but that's more to do with the fact that it would cost a lot, not to mention in fuel, for no real gain to the average person.
@36POINTBLANK The crane is there to secure the thing so it doesn't fly out of control and crash into someone. It isn't lifting the thing, just they have it hooked up incase the thing tries to move away too far, they at least have a hold on it.
@36POINTBLANK Know ye not the basics of aerodynamics?
There are fins on the rear of each nacelle directing the thrust from the props downward at a 90 degree angl,e perpindicular to the centerline of the fuselage and ground.
@36POINTBLANK Do you not see the size of that thing? notice how it's tilted back, more than likely because of its weight. Thus them putting it attached to a crane so it doesn't smash and kill someone. You act as if this is impossible, you do realize they have vertical take off jets? That literally hover about.
Unfortunately Moller has given people false hope that this product was near completion and ready for the market for the past Decade. I used to follow the updates. Look at the footage.....engines flat out and craft can barely achieve (the goal) 15 or 20 ft. altitude. He said larger engines were installed nearly 5 years ago, and......nothing. Too bad. A pipe dream.
@sk8erDustin Smallest engine with the most horse power per square inch. 96 mph per 24 square inch engine. Live in Woodland ca, 10 minutes away from Davis Ca where this was built
@sk8erDustin Out of everyone of the mollers employees in Davis Ca, He constructed the smallest engine with most horse power. Just thought it was a cool thing for people to see man. Chill out. I can't tell you how many comments I've seen on videos where I wanted to bitch someone out, but then simply went on with my business.
Plus there is a LOT of very unreasonable people on this site that aren't worth the extra effort you have to put in.
That vid was done in 2006. As of now, more makers are showing up to put theirs on sale. Moller has recently planned to release the M400 (the one in the video) sometime in he next few years. I can't wait to see it come out!
