rpcfan: thanks for reply ; my question was referring to the studio gothic sanctuary of the abbey church! You will notice the rest of the church is a modern structure?????
SVWillmer, I am a Christian and a relationship with Jesus works perfectly for me, but I wouldn't be there unless I had worked through an atheistic childhood and adolesence. If agnosticism is where you need to be right now then God bless you where you are. I just hope you and menglinhigh know that Jesus loves you and knows all about what you need, which is never condemnation! God bless and happy Christmas, whatever it is about for you!
@SVWillmer You should go with what you really believe and feel happy with, not just stick to one belief because you feel you're obliged to. I'm an atheist myself, but if you miss Jesus, then perhaps Christianity isn't such a bad idea for you? It's all down to the individual.
Thanks for the advice, and I think I will stay with my choice, there is a great many missions I must accomplish and belief in a god or messiah will not get me there. Thanks again for understanding! Oh and merry Christmas (Im aware of the irony there =p)
rpcfan, I agree with you to some extent about remixes. However, your judgement would indicate that all "first generation" works are by definition perfect, which is undoubtedly not the case. Personally, I feel some "remixes" and "covers" can surpass the original easily. In the case of Lord of the Dance, itself an Irish folk song, it is impossible to define what the original could even sound like.
yeah remixes can make a song better or worse but i think this would sound really good with a modern beat and instruments behind it! if you want to know what a "remix" is then type it into goole or wikipedia and that will explian for you :) thanks again for posting this wonderful song
I think its a metaphor. Im surprised they mentioned SABBATH these days Sabbath is almost like a forbidden word to Christians and Jesus kept it so why arnt we??!!
Jesus cured a man on the Sabbath plus his disciples were eating wheat while passing thru fields on Sabbaths . This was scandalous for some Jews cause these things meant not keeping the sabbath. Jesus makes a point that He is greater than the sabbath and the law.
"therefore let no one pass judgment on you in questions of food and drink, or with regard to a festival or a new moon or a Sabbath. These are a shadow of the things to come, but the substance belongs to Christ... These have indeed an appearance of wisdom in promoting self-made religion and asceticism and severity to the body, but they are of no value in stopping the indulgence of the flesh." This is Colossians 2 16-17, 23. Christ fulfilled these things, so we can rejoice in Him alone.
i can sing better

As far as I know what (to quote) is "shown here" is completed.
What is not "shown here" may not be completed.
Mysteries remain and details might be obtained from the monks during a visit.

Question: Why wasn't Douai Abbey Church (shown here) ever completed? If it was due to lack of finances, is there still a plan to complete it???
misty04 2 years ago
You have knowledge that I don't. It seemed complete to me!
rpcfan 2 years ago
I believe it was completed in the early 90s, took 60 years to finish... it was because of financial constraints

I became and atheist, well an ignostic mind. Still this hymn is my favourite. I miss Jesus, still I made my choice and now I must live with that.

I refrained from using the word "better" so I said "different" in my original reply.
Personally I can't STAND "remixes" of anything because, in my opinion, they tend to indicate that the original was somehow incomplete.
An "a capella" piece is performed without accompaniment because that's what is intended by the composer/arranger and the performer(s).
Fortunately we are all entitled to our own opinions

No point in pusuing the remix discussion. It's been done.
Just one area of correction, "Lord of the Dance" is a hymn written by the Englishman Sydney Carter less than 50 years ago.

it's kind of like the dance of life. he says, "I am the way, the truth, and the life." So following him is like him leading us in a dancwe of life.

shure we should keep the sabbath like jesus did, and like apostols did, but the times was changed like the profecy says..
The sabbath is the Lord´s day for ever.
