Steve Williams had top 3 usable strength in pro wrestling history. I mean, he could gorilla press ANYONE!! Not that they didn't help the balance with their hands, but if you watch WARGAMES vs. the Freebirds and the Samoans, he press Terry Gordy into the top of the cage over and over. AMAZING!...heck, I'm going to find it now!
I love you Doc. RIP Doc! Thank you for giving me some of the greatest wrestling memories ever. You're my favorite wrestler ever & i'll always remember you. Right here is one favorite memories when you wrestled the Road Warriors.
I was always a huge Dr Death fan, and I love how JR would get so carried away calling his matches. I guarantee if you asked Ross who his fave of all time was, he'd say Steve Williams.
good point-I forgot about the hysterics that accompanied an Austin match...I wonder if Steve knows how much Ross had to do with making him a superstar
@arlichar11 My freshman year in college was Doc's senior year. He already had the Dr Death nickname, and I'd sometimes see him jogging around campus at OU. He weighed around 330 lbs back then. You're a good football player when you're already a campus legend by your senior year.
According to Dr. Death shoot interview that press slam that Dr. Death did at the 1:32 mark is what started that famous backstage incident between Hawk & Dr. Death. Jim Ross said it was the scariest incident he's ever witnessed. I heard Dr. Death took Hawk down quick (this part i heard through the grapevine but i tend to believe it).
This match is a great example of how good the commentators for the NWA were at selling the story of the match. JR never missed a beat with the moves, and the other guy (Bob Caudle was it?) was great at backing him up.
You called it...add Jim Ross to that list, then Joey Styles and you have my top 5 of all time. Too bad the world never got to hear Lance Russell, he may very well have been the best of them all.
I saw this live on TV as it happened. My heart was broken because the Warriors not only got screwed by a team that never tag-teamed together, but the the Warriors dominance in the NWA was over and they were never the same after this.
My fault. When I posted this, I got this match mixed up with that Clash of the Champions match two months later. yeah, you're right. They did when this match at Chi-Town Rumble.
Teddy long ref that match didn't he job them out of the title at the clash of the champions. He became the danny davis of the nwa!!!!!!!!!!!

8 min and 26 sec of this, is waaaaaay better than Cena or Orton vs HHH at WM.
That's just how much better NWA was compared to WWE
