I think the reason why ppl prefer Alexz version is because it is simpler. The fact that the Backstreet Boys have 4 voices on the song distracts some ppl. I enjoy both versions, I've been a fan of BSB since '97 & know very little about Alexz except for a few of her songs. I enjoy both versions, but I find myself leaning towards Alexz bc it is simpler. But the way that Brian sings "Some love is not really love at all" at the end really touches my me I think it comes down to the lyrics being great

Alexz Johnson recorded this song for Instant Star. The Backstreet Boys heard it, and LOVED it. They really wanted to add their own style to it, so they went to Alexz, Alexz's producer, and the managers of Instant Star. They had to actually perform how they would record the song to all of these managers before they would even consider giving the boys permission. SO ANYWAYS, the boys loved Alexz's version, and Alexz loved the boys' version, so fighting over whose is better is absolutely pointless.

No, She wrote and co-wrote SOME of the songs for season 1 and co-wrote I just wanted your love from season 4. Christopher Ward and Rob Wells, two Instant Star Songwriters, wrote There's us. She actually wrote NONE for season 2. :)

First off this isn't Alexz's song. This was written by the creative songwriters that got together for writing new songs for the soundtracks of Instant Star. Second of all yes Alexz's version is better but there is no need to bash BSB for giving it a try. If you think about it, it kinda shows that Instant Star made an impact. i mean you rarely hear about it in th US, so that fact that BSB liked the song enough to cover it is kinda cool! But Alexz's verision is better!

True she doesn't own the song; however the record label does, but that go's for every artist who isn't Indi. So these lyrics itself do belong to Alexz Johnson.

I do not believe that Alexz owns the copyright, she didn't write the song, & I doubt Rob Wells & Christopher Ward would give up their rights to the song. Bc if they did they give up the rights to continue to make money off of the song.
