Despise! Oh how I miss this game. I played from T2Aish all the way to Samurai Empire or whatever, then I finally couldn't stand missing the old days. Freeshards just aren't the same because there's no variance of players, everybody's a pvp mage with razor macros and all that shit. I miss the game when it was fresh. Have never really considered trying another MMORPG, just have to be content with missing the old days.

There will never be another game like it, or anything that can recapture the feeling and mystery of those early days of online gaming. Some people do not like the isometric graphics. Personally I prefer them over 3-D, which tends to give me a bit of a headache. Anyway, very fun game in it's day! Fare-thee-well, Britannia!

Banning/punishing paying customers for periods of time (deliberate denial of service). I quit after my house decayed during the 9/11 issues/problems.

Man, it is true, UO in official servers is crap, it is NOT fun to have to spend half of your life to be good at pvp.When I realized that I ran away... Free shards on the other hand are more fun. Everything is fast... you can do it AFK and then just do some pvp...this is the best aspect of UO. Everything else sucks in my opinion.
Man this is what happens. Everyone's like "ooo 3D herpaderp" and they forget about the quality of the animation. It doesn't matter how detailed or realistic your character looks if he moves like he has a stick shoved up his backside(I'm lookin at you EQ).
No one plays the official UO anymore. The last time my friend and I logged in was back in like 2004 with our old 1999 characters. Bunch of kids playing, like 12-13 in Trammel. We super pwned them in Felluca with our old school skills and characters. They all called us cheaters--lol. We played for a month and quit. It was horrible, and sad. They had a new rule that your toons would start losing skills if you didn't log in in every 3 months. Just deleted all my shit and never went back. very sad.
I'm not gonna say the graphics don't look good, but what's with bouncing around instead of running? This looks like an abomination of what the original UO was, minus the PvP, the community, the Seers, and the FUN. Trammel can burn in hell as far as I'm concerned. Any of you ever been in a guild in vanilla UO and lived near a bunch of Pk's? THAT was fun, not carebear land and no risk ever when you walked outside your house.

Play on the EA servers, Atlantic is still highly populated, at least 5 times larger than any free server, and the PvP is great, yea I liked it back when when it was full loot, and i would play siege perilous if it wasn't dead, but anyone who wants to get back into Ultima or even try it for the first time, Atlantic on the EA servers is the way to go.
I just started on the UO Second Age free server uosecondage(dot)com. Completely free and they even have the whole game for download if you don't have your discs anymore. Accurate 1999 UO gameplay and over 400 online. None of this 3D non-sense.
People don't seem to understand that you can still use the old client.....People always have to complain.....goddamn no wonder they're having such an easy time lulling us into a Police State, you're a bunch of fucking idiots, just in general....

This game first came out in 1997, and still has many loyal subscribers, mostly because its gameplay/leveling system is distinct from pretty much any other MMO I can think of. That being said, without the original Ultima team behind UO, it's only a shadow of its former glory. They should have gone forward with Ultima X Odyssey.
It's sad when all a people cares about is graphics. I could care less if it had atri graphic as long as the game play is fun. I'll take bad graphics apose to bad game play like Wow anyday.

Also UO is better then World of warcrap anybody can level up my 9 yr old neice can play world of warcrap. However she can't play UO because UO is a skill based game which is hard apose to a level base game like World of Warcrap. UO was a great game. An incredible game, in fact. Having said that, it was instantly dated the moment EQ went live. And that was in what? 1999? This despite the lack of pvp content on EQ. And these days, with the number of games out now, even updated UO looks dated, and watching people play it makes me feel sad.

I think they should get rid of skill gains though or just make that a separate server..
the skill gains are too boring anyway or they could make it where when you gain up in a skill you choose the type of path you want like if your a mage they make you choose a mage book element in the beginning like ice , fire ect.. which makes all your spells no matter what the name do that kind of damage and if you choose generic it just does like normal mage and then they can do that for every book skill

to make uo better they should make it easier to gain level in skills and add where instead of you worrying about leveling your character you get a weapon and level that..

ive never played this game, it looks good, but like all games....the original is the best...nowadays its like continuations of everything...ahhhh gaming in the clinton years was so much fun....i just cant get over spyro the dragon and final fantasy 7, FF7 was only good to me because it made me cry like 4 different times, no other game in history has done that....now its like theres a million resident evils and FF's, like what happened to RPG's??? WoW really isnt that great to me...mmm nope......

I hear ya man, I left UO when they pretty much killed any sort of immersion, no more talking with NPC's. Stupid rep system, totally removed the danger, it was fun making a miner and you HAD to train hiding and mine at obscure hours.
Best fun I ever had though was right before renesance was released and they had removed all the houses I forgot how nice UO was with no shit all over the land.

Thats funny because to me the old days were before feluccia/trammel was part of UO, pre-T2A era. Back when you could hide and stil shoot arrows. Original UO was/still is the best for pvp.

UO (in 2001 or so) was crap. Just a glorified hack and slash. No Quests, lands littered with eyesores like peoples houses and merchants.
When logging in to get a rare salad bowl, was the highlight of the game; I got out.

I love diablo, played since day 1 and played then d2 for 5 years. but the end result is once you've beat your way through normal mode which takes like a day or 2, you've literally almost done everything the game has 2 offer other then get 2 the max lvl, and get the best gear... You pick a class, you lvl it and follow the game story line... that's kinda been the foundation of RPG's since video games started. some games have gone deeper into the RP setting by allowing you 2 do more than other games and not be Linear, but just cause you have a Linear RPG doesn't make it any less of a RPG. by your logic finfal fantasy 7 isn't a RPG... or maybe you would think it is cause it has cut scenes.

This game first came out in 1997, and still has many loyal subscribers, mostly because its gameplay/leveling system is distinct from pretty much any other MMO I can think of. That being said, without the original Ultima team behind UO, it's only a shadow of its former glory. They should have gone forward with Ultima X Odyssey.

Also UO is better then World of warcrap anybody can level up my 9 yr old neice can play world of warcrap. However she can't play UO because UO is a skill based game which is hard apose to a level base game like World of Warcrap. So i think it say alot about a game if a 9 yr old kid and play it no problem.

UO was a great game. An incredible game, in fact. Having said that, it was instantly dated the moment EQ went live. And that was in what? 1999? This despite the lack of pvp content on EQ. And these days, with the number of games out now, even updated UO looks dated, and watching people play it makes me feel sad.

I think they should get rid of skill gains though or just make that a separate server..
the skill gains are too boring anyway or they could make it where when you gain up in a skill you choose the type of path you want like if your a mage they make you choose a mage book element in the beginning like ice , fire ect.. which makes all your spells no matter what the name do that kind of damage and if you choose generic it just does like normal mage and then they can do that for every book skill

to make uo better they should make it easier to gain level in skills and add where instead of you worrying about leveling your character you get a weapon and level that..
or like you level up a hat by using it long enough and you get more hp and it be infinite or something
