Don't forget to tie your gear to your canoe. I learned that valuable lesson once when I tipped in the middle of a huge lake. Most of your gear will float all it needs is a few small air pockets. I had a heavy pack it floated because I had alot of gear in bags in the pack .
I've taken an aluminum canoe, roled it on purpose, turned it upside down lifted it out of the water as high as I could to break suction, Then with a thrust kick & lunge threw the canoe up with a flip. It landed without being swamped & I was able to climb back in over the bow. Not possible without a life jacket!
@bensbyboat2009 what's up with the gay capsizing comment? If you never capsize you probably aren't pushing yourself. Try some whitewater! (Search for Olivier Chatigny on youtube and watch the first link)

It would have been faster to take it to the bank and flip it there :)

These unswamping vids are a good advert for on-board boyancy!
I love guys who advise from the bank - Especially stood in a dry cag while you mate freezes his skin off :) Funny!

Aye. We realised that'd be a problem fairly quickly.
Capsizing is for gays anyway.
