@xxstargatemanxx Because they use a centerfire primer, the primer is in the center of the head of the cartridge, 22s use a rimfire where the primer is around the rim of the head of the case.
@nutnfancy what is your opinion of the Mossberg 702 Tactical 22lr? It is significantly cheaper than those models you review in this video. How does it stack up to the others, taking into consideration the "bang for your buck."
Nutn, what mount are you using on your 10/22 to hold that Fenix pd30? I've looked around online and that light looks like a really good one for the money. Now all I need is to find a correctly sized mount like the one you're using. Great job on the video's, I watch pretty much religiously.
what about the gsg 5? is that not tactical.22 rd mag has rail for different sights, they have m4 style stock, and front rail system. anyway good review by you should be done , and i dont mean the one that you did and didnt use it
Has your MP1522 worked well? I purchased one from Cabela's about six months ago and took it to the range and it wasn't feeding properly even following the instructions from the manual on how to load the magazines. It would jam once every 2 or 3 rounds and after about 50 rounds I had a case rupture using brand new Winchester Wildcat .22lr ammo. Part of the bolt exploded and hit me in the face, but I wasn't injured. Sent it back to SW and they couldn't fix it so I had to sell it back to Cabela's.
There don't seem to be a whole lot of tactical 22s on the market yet... I was only able to find a few besides the ones used in the video (the Remington 597 VTR, the ISSC MK22, a couple ATI/GSG's, and the new Mossberg model 37204)... Is anyone here familiar with these other models, and have any recommendations? According to Nutn's video, it appears the Sig is the best quality, but it's difficult to add accessories...? Any info/advice would be appreciated.
@DuckDodgers2400 watch the S&W 15-22 Review. I plan on buying one as soon as I can. Everything I've seen on it suggests it's the best tactical .22 available right now for what I want in a gun like this. It has high reliability compared to others such as the Colt Umarex tactical .22, although not as foolproof as the SIG 522. However I'd still choose the S&W because of the ergonomics and similarity to a real AR, the wide variety of interchangeable AR parts, the quad-rail, foldable iron sight, etc.
Love your videos. Have you ever used a Henry US Survival Rifle? It was the AR-7 back in the day. I would like to know how viable that tool would be in a survival situation compared to these 22s. Thanks.
I just sent in my 10/22 barrel to be turned and threaded to except an ar-15 flash supressor. I got tired of buying bolt-ons that either break or fall off. Smithy said it would take a couple of weeks because he's got some work ahead of me.
i am impressed with my 10/22 (ati strikeforce, which i love the way they look in all black.) first day i've shot my ruger, i did not clean it because my kit didn't arrive and i was eager to shoot. so i did and it jammed a lot with mini mags and a TI25 steal lips. i didn't know how to adjust the mag properly since it is my first rifle(2nd gun). one week later cleaned it and got the mag to work, 400rnds of rem bulk, zero failure. today i've shot another 400rns and one weird hiccup.
@charlesburton95 I would counter that. From my experience it is the complete opposite. Ive found that .22 are so dirty burning and the caliber is so small, that even minor fouling will be fairly large in scale to the small size of the chamber which quickly leads to malfunctions in semi autos, and rougher actions in manuals. Lareger diameter bores and manual actions on the other hand, such as .30 cals and shotguns are pretty much maintence free (although you do suffer much in accuracy).
@ELITEHAMSTER123 Well, I'm sure other people have had differing experiences, but with my .22 (which, granted hasn't seen TONS of use) I've BARELY had to clean it at all.
A marine buddy once told me that the .22 is one of the best rounds on the planet, because they're some of the lightest guns and ammo on the planet, and you can find it anywhere you go. I firmly believe in this philosophy, and while I don't EXCLUSIVELY shoot a .22, it's still one of my favorite calibers.
dear nutnfancy, i need to stop watching your videos. you are making me spend money. i watched your review of the ruger sr9 a few months ago, two weeks later i bought a ruger sr9. been watching your reviews on the "every man's rifle", now i just bought a used ruger 10/22 w/ an ATI strikeforce stock and TI mags and a red dot. since you can pursue me so much with your videos, make one on how to quit smoking. maybe i can actually quit.
@blaziankhmer You ain't lying. I just HAD to purchase the Troy T-22 after watching this and fancy's 22 HOF gun table top review. I want to duplicate that exact gun he has. Already have the TacSol barrel. Freaking awesome upgrade

This is a great informative video. I have been wanting to replace the stock on my 10 22 and now I'm going with a tapco stock. And that smith&wesson 15-22 is kick azz! I got to have one of those. I love to go shooting/plinking and the 22 long rifle is very cheap to shoot. Great vid, thanks for your work Nutnfancy,
hey nutnfancy, you should do a review on the HK (umarex) 416 .22. I just picked one up and absolutely love it. It's relatively new and i haven't seen many reviews on it so it would be great to have a more experienced point of view on the system. thanks!
@MrAppleseed88 Yeah, I've been looking into the "Colt" Umarex M4 carbine model. They're running under $500 almost everywhere I checked so far. The 30rd mag that comes with it looks way too long though. The 20rd is the same profile as the 5.56 double stack mags for a normal AR15. Then I can shoot 1000 rounds for about $40!
Big Zombie Apocalypse fan, and after reading World War Z, the tactical .22 is what really helped bring the zombies down! It's fiction I know but read the book, the land warrior and tanks are going to do jack crap against the un-dead!
I got the colt M16 22, and I think it will be my main battle rifle. lol, yeah, with Hollow point 22lr I am pretty sure it will take out any bad guy in a WROL event.
Uh, dude, you barely touched on the CMMG drop in bolt conversion kit for AR-15s. In MY opinion this is the best option out there. you can train with your everyday rifle for cheap and everything except the recoil stays the same. You have 2 guns in one, warm up with the 22 and then replace your bolt and your playing with the big boy version. You can train your kids on the same rifle they will eventually graduate to. But nice Vid none the less they are lengthy but lots of good info and fun to watch
the 22 i think one of the most verstial rounds for small game there is besides the 223 esicaly in the m16 m4 layous and the 1911 platforms and many other versions but i still perfer my back woods single shot 22 long and short
This (and the individual tactical .22 rifle reviews) rank among the most value-added TNP videos. A whole lot of content to think about and adapt to one's own training.
Nutns videos swayed me in the direction of buying a ruger 10/22 rather than a ar15 for my first rifle. Figured i could shoot my ruger for alot less money while saving up for my ar set up
@blublublu00 I belive that the insane assault rifle laws in kalifornia only specify to centerfires only, but you can not have a magazine that exceeds 10 rounds. I think that rimfires don't apply. If you do get one and people see it, then any anti-gun enviornmentalist nut will call the police saying you have a machine gun.
Just my opinion, but I think you should use 2-3 different colors on your dura coats, like a multi cam..stock desert, barrel little darker, receiver, maybe a lighter color..not saying it looks bad at all..just think way to much of the same thing, almost looks like a toy..just my opinion..
Nutn, thanks for this most excellent review! Once again you have helped me to refine my options and to make a good purchase. I went with the Ruger 10/22 and have outfitted it with the Tapco tactical stock.
@caracalla1963 You wont be disappointed..I dont think there is another .22 with more accessories, and cool ad ons..I loved mine, I had the 10/22 Mag dressed in Butler Creek goodies..
Hi Nutn! Thanks for all your hard work and some amazingly through reviews!
This particular video caught my eye, I can only imagine the fun that can had with this type of firearm.
That said, I was looking for low price and nice features and came across the:
Mossberg .22 Tactical - AR style, lots of rails, adjustible stock... $245 on bud's I believe... Ever heard of this gun? any experience with it? Do I smell a "Budget Run N Gun Mossberg Tactical .22" review in the works?
at 21:52-22:08 what distance is that safe to shoot with the .22 LR. I have a ruger 10-22 and a CMMG drop in for my LMT AR? Thanks in advance. Keep up the great work
I'm new to the TNP project and I was a bit sceptical, but after watching some video's I am a fan. While I was wathcing this particular video on tactical .22's, I was wondering if anyone has done extensive tests on a conversion kit for an AR15. In stead of buying a new gun why not convert so you can have the same weight and trigger pull?
@Icezix its not my video but some of them dont come with any rails, only the holes to mount them eventhough it may have been advertised with it, happend to me with ruger tac 22 advertised with rails, comes shipped without....
actually, if you use really nasty hollowpoints, a .22 can make a real mess of larger targets. if you want to experiment, try drilling them out on a drill press a bit wider, and shoot a 1 gallon icecream pail full of water.
I gotta say that I love .22LR. Ruger makes some great stuff and they are cheaper than dirt to shoot. Plus, if you're good at small targets (e.g. heads), they will make good home defense weapons. Ruger let's you deck out your gear so easily. I love it! Those S&W look cool too.
at 21:52-22:08 what distance is that safe to shoot with the .22 LR. I have a ruger 10-22 and a CMMG drop in for my LMT AR? Thanks in advance. Keep up the great work
I was lookin for .22 WMR videos made by Nutn, sadly havent found such.So there is a question: What do you Nutnfancy think about .22 WMR?I know, its more expesive than .22LR but maybe it could be used in longer distance shooting practices. In Polish law you arent allowed to have any gun other than airgun or blackpowder invented before 1850.But there are some projects of new law, which will allow to have rimfire witout permisions, only registrated on local Police dep. including atractive .22 WMR=D
@skintothebone88 ... Um, Richard,(?) when Nutn refers to the everymans 22, he's not saying that you should go out and buy a $500 rifle. If you noticed he also had a couple ruger 10/22s on the table,(previously reviewed in TNP) which he also refers to as the everymans 22.
Hey Nutn, another aspect of the weight is the weight of the ammo and how much you can carry in your pack. You can carry thousands of .22 rounds where for the same weight and space only carry a few hundred 5.56/.223 rounds. 7.62 forgettaboutit!
Hey nuntnfancy, when do you think the review for the m6a2 will be up? I've been looking at picking one up, and would love to see your review on it.
I want to put in a request for a Sig 556 classic/classic swat, as well as some long range drills for bolt action and DMR. Just a couple of suggestions, figured you didn't have enough going on lol. Appreciate all your work put into TNP
@Kueche90 A rimfire 22 cartridge has a small amount of "rim" protruding from the base of the shell casing that holds the shell in the breech of a firearm. A centerfire cartridge has the rim extended to the same width of the casing for an extractor to grab and eject the shell casing. wikipedia, Rimfire, and centerfire.
@skintothebone88 i dont think Nutn' get kickbacks for the reveiws, and i also beleive the everyman .22 would be a ruger 10/22, which even here are not very expensive, have a look at the second hand market if you dont want to spend much.
35,000 veiws 618 likes and 18 dislikes... if you feel you cant relate to Nutn's vid then dont bother watching then bud, simple problem solved.
@TheDishD Hey Dish, I agree brother, Nutn is doing this for the right reason, He gives an honest and unbiased opinion on a product. If he digs it he will tell you, if he doesnt he will tell you also. The ruger 10/22 is the everyman rifle, I love mine and shoot it quite often, I like the tactical ones, but for the money, the ruger will work just fine
@TheDishD I think Nutnfancy has a massive ego. He might tell it like he sees it, but when he says he doesn't like something, in his mind automatically that makes it the wrong. I remember the "depussification" video...that turned me off TNP completely.
@MNU1978 fair enough dude, thats your opinion and how you may see things, i have a different opinion, so we agree to disagree. btw if the depussification video turned u off TNP why do you still check out TNP vids?
@Verilioness I didn't look back. For your information a friend of mine sent me the link to this video. No need to get snotty. You people act like you your shit don't stink. You accuse other people of "trolling"...even the slightest criticism gets people blocked. Really?
ANd with all do respect veriliones, you are an arrogant **nt. "You just want a response? Here it is: you're blocked. Cya....is that how you intimidate people? Go FUCK yoruself.
@MNU1978 So you knw ahead of watching it was a Nutn Vid and you still watched and i would not say "slightest criticism" gets you blocked, more personal abuse, use of fowl language, slagging off LEO's/ Military and/or others that post on Nutn' vids. Thats what gets you blocked, which by the way using such language realy shows your maturity level..so i will join you briefly have a nice day arse hole...
@MNU1978 Hey now, there is no need to be rude! And the the term "trolling" is refering to people whom mock, slander, and insult others for no other reason than to get attention. Like yourself for instance. And another thing, don't you ever dissrespect a lady! EVER!!! Verilioness works very hard to keep the comments clean and civilized on here and deserves a little respect! And use a more civilized tounge will you, I grow tired of all this childish BS from people like you.
@TheDishD sorry to offend you fanboy! I was actually hoping that his sister/wife whatever the hell she is would respond back(Im not sure how they do things in Utah!) but instead I get you. How many of the rifles/pistols that he showcases do you actually have DUDE? Please be honest
@skintothebone88 currently "DUDE" Glock34, Glock17a, Glock17L, Fn Hi-Power, not showcased but rem 700, rem 760 ,Savage arms bolt .22, used to own ruger 22/45 and a ruger 10/22 (now banned), When i was in RMC's SA80,L115a1 in the Aust Defence Force m4,f88(Steyr Aust Version) and saw.
@skintothebone88 HA only took semi auto rifles/shotties and hand guns limited to 10 rnd mags, max .357 min barrel length 120mm. dont have to show and tell mate, what i show on my channel is my business. u have to go to insults now..
@TheDishD Thanks for the information on that I had no idea what all they would allow you to keep, only a matter of time until they take everything away from us cow fuckers here in Texas. Just sayin sounds like a nice collection Id enjoy seeing in action, I respect not showing all your cards, just would like to see what you can get "down under" peace, and forgive my attempts at humor not really trying to insult you I got no reason
@skintothebone88 ok, might/could do a vid, but it would be boring as i can only fire the handguns at the range, i have some of my rem's (allowed to use for hunting) might put it up. all good .
@skintothebone88 You need to look up the definition of trolling, because you just gave yourself away. You just want a response? Here it is: you're blocked. Cya.
Once again a very informative video. I am still looking at the options for a tactical .22. I do like the economy of the rounds and it would be a great proving ground for the upgrades I want to make to my full .223 platform. Thanks.
Yo dude, I just wanted to wish you and your family a happy and safe Veteran's day! Thank you and all your friends for your military and civilian service. It is people like you who live and preach the American way of life and values. Way too many people have forgotten all about them. Thanks again.
@tonhe i agree, i feel center fire is a bit too reliable for certain drills, and that snap caps or dummy reloads should be used to simulate failures for center fires(mags loaded by another person). not really an issue so much with rimfire lol.
Obama never getting out of office u people do not know what's in store the structure has already been built the plans already laid out go progressive liberals rock we are all socialists/commis fuck capitalism

hey nutnfancy, you should do a review on the HK (umarex) 416 .22. I just picked one up and absolutely love it. It's relatively new and i haven't seen many reviews on it so it would be great to have a more experienced point of view on the system. thanks!
Chadisbroken 11 months ago
@Chadisbroken Yeah dude, and the Umarex M16 22lr. I love mine. It loves Blazer ammo. Eats it like a hungry dog.
MrAppleseed88 11 months ago
@MrAppleseed88 Yeah, I've been looking into the "Colt" Umarex M4 carbine model. They're running under $500 almost everywhere I checked so far. The 30rd mag that comes with it looks way too long though. The 20rd is the same profile as the 5.56 double stack mags for a normal AR15. Then I can shoot 1000 rounds for about $40!

you seem to be a tactical genius, do you have any suggestions for how to be tactical with my cock?
ZunnyONe 11 months ago

Do you have a review for the Colt tactical .22 M4 or M16 varients?
paint3all 1 year ago
I can never own a tactical .22, according to this definition, because I live in California. Super sad.
blublublu00 1 year ago

I'm new to the TNP project and I was a bit sceptical, but after watching some video's I am a fan. While I was wathcing this particular video on tactical .22's, I was wondering if anyone has done extensive tests on a conversion kit for an AR15. In stead of buying a new gun why not convert so you can have the same weight and trigger pull?

actually, if you use really nasty hollowpoints, a .22 can make a real mess of larger targets. if you want to experiment, try drilling them out on a drill press a bit wider, and shoot a 1 gallon icecream pail full of water.

MrKansai1 1 year ago
@skintothebone88 ... Um, Richard,(?) when Nutn refers to the everymans 22, he's not saying that you should go out and buy a $500 rifle. If you noticed he also had a couple ruger 10/22s on the table,(previously reviewed in TNP) which he also refers to as the everymans 22.
Just saying.

wat about a gsg ak47 without a flash hider is that in ur opinion still tacttical with a rail??

Hey Nutn, another aspect of the weight is the weight of the ammo and how much you can carry in your pack. You can carry thousands of .22 rounds where for the same weight and space only carry a few hundred 5.56/.223 rounds. 7.62 forgettaboutit!

I am not an american so I got a short question:
What's the differnece between rimfire and centerfire???
Kueche90 1 year ago
@Kueche90 A rimfire 22 cartridge has a small amount of "rim" protruding from the base of the shell casing that holds the shell in the breech of a firearm. A centerfire cartridge has the rim extended to the same width of the casing for an extractor to grab and eject the shell casing. wikipedia, Rimfire, and centerfire.
Hope this helps mate, cheers.
Trigunnie45 1 year ago
@skintothebone88 i dont think Nutn' get kickbacks for the reveiws, and i also beleive the everyman .22 would be a ruger 10/22, which even here are not very expensive, have a look at the second hand market if you dont want to spend much.
35,000 veiws 618 likes and 18 dislikes... if you feel you cant relate to Nutn's vid then dont bother watching then bud, simple problem solved.
TheDishD 1 year ago
@TheDishD Hey Dish, I agree brother, Nutn is doing this for the right reason, He gives an honest and unbiased opinion on a product. If he digs it he will tell you, if he doesnt he will tell you also. The ruger 10/22 is the everyman rifle, I love mine and shoot it quite often, I like the tactical ones, but for the money, the ruger will work just fine
brotherskeepers111 1 year ago
@TheDishD I think Nutnfancy has a massive ego. He might tell it like he sees it, but when he says he doesn't like something, in his mind automatically that makes it the wrong. I remember the "depussification" video...that turned me off TNP completely.
MNU1978 1 year ago
@MNU1978 fair enough dude, thats your opinion and how you may see things, i have a different opinion, so we agree to disagree. btw if the depussification video turned u off TNP why do you still check out TNP vids?

@Verilioness I didn't look back. For your information a friend of mine sent me the link to this video. No need to get snotty. You people act like you your shit don't stink. You accuse other people of "trolling"...even the slightest criticism gets people blocked. Really?

@MNU1978 So you knw ahead of watching it was a Nutn Vid and you still watched and i would not say "slightest criticism" gets you blocked, more personal abuse, use of fowl language, slagging off LEO's/ Military and/or others that post on Nutn' vids. @MNU1978 Hey now, there is no need to be rude! And the the term "trolling" is refering to people whom mock, slander, and insult others for no other reason than to get attention. Honestly.. the lack of 100% reliability is a good thing. Even more so on the 15/22, gives you lots of opportunity for clearing drills !!!
tonhe 1 year ago
@tonhe i agree, i feel center fire is a bit too reliable for certain drills, and that snap caps or dummy reloads should be used to simulate failures for center fires(mags loaded by another person). not really an issue so much with rimfire lol.
