I got very emotional watching Rataouille. My mom is a recent immigrant from the Philippines, she came here with two other siblings and my grandpa to help our relatives back home and she expects me to do the same. She wanted me to go into nursing, but I was an artist and wanted to go into animation. She wasn't too happy when she found out but as I showed her my work she was reluctantly supportive.

This movie inspired me to keep going despite my obstacles. Thank you Pixar

@abcldeefcgh2O Yeah, Dream-works and Pixar are the best. I still love the old school hand drawn stuff as well. I grew up with them. Pinocchio, Lady and The Tramp, Little Mermaid, 101 Dalmatians, Lion King, and the like. I also loved Toy Story, I was in high school when the first came out. It was so different and awesome. Toy Story and Jurassic Park changed everything.

Re. the short, 'your friend the rat' - did anyone else notice the discrepency?

- says rats are used in medical experiments as they are similar to humans physiology and biochemistry,

but then - it says that rats weren't affected by being near a lot of nuclear tests.

Humans don't tend to survive long after being near radiation.

Note to Disney etc: punting nuke-anything and animal experiments is never ever cool nor ethical.

@Szedg - yar, but don't you find the selection procedure - taking ethics aside - to be full of holes anyway then, given that rats would seem to be very biochemically different to most people when it comes to radiation effects. Not a new idea, plenty of people have proven it so, that animal testing isn't sensible even just on the basis that it shows anything of use. There's more to it than studying genes as well anyway.

@Szedg - another discrepency is afforded if you're aware that people are always advised that drugs that work on animnals (ie vet drugs) do not work the same way on humans. Now, if animals are suitable test subjects to determine how things affect humans, then surely drugs that work for animals are then also going to work the same way on people? But they don't. I mean, sure, a vet tranq will also knock a human out - but even then, they work very differently as the biochemistry differs.

But you know, at the same time, you can't transfuse different human bloodtypes to one another.

this movie is just so unexplainably good.

it is a wonderful movies with food, love, relaxation, and compassionate taste of food and it shows the beautiful paris, and it is just awesome.

At first, when i finished watching the movie I was like "ok.... movie about food, and that's it..."

Later when I was 15 (now) and watch it again, I felt very touched, and what Ego (the critic) said at the end about critics and cooks were totally right.
