  • Joyful, fun creatiovity belongs to the young before they all get woprn down with money concerns and the trivia of material existence. I suppose it's because 'hope' is something alluring in the distance, and when you;re young you have a bigger future.

  • what is the lp

  • There is not one bad song on this album....a true Klassic.....if you don't have it....WHAT ARE YOU WAITING FOR!!!...LOL

  • I haven't heard this song in over 35 years! Loved this as a child. Wow the nostalgia!

  • Colonization had some very positive effects on colonized countries. Would India have ever known tea if the British had not brought it there ? :-D

  • 12 people drank some bad tea.

  • I'm just getting into a full-blown love affair with The Kinks; I'd heard and enjoyed the radio-friendly songs ("You Really Got Me", "Lola", "Tired of Waiting For You", etc.). But just recently I listened to Village Green Preservation Society and became hooked. I just bought and listened to the Arthur CD 3 times already since getting it by mail yesterday. Looks like my next acquisition will be Muswell Hillbillies....this song's charm (like many other Kinks Kompositions) is inescapable!

  • @itwontbez

    I'll follow suit.

  • @itwontbez I envy you. I did that back in the 70's when Sleepwalker was the current album. Got to go back and discover all this wonderful music. Get ready for a long and unbelievably enjoyable journey...

  • @musicaldun1 Thank you for your comment...I'm looking forward to it!

  • @itwontbez Muswell Hillbillies is the best of the lot.

  • @woodyt56 lol It seems like every Kinks fan I communicate with has a different favorite album from the other! But I like that, it shows how diversified Ray Davies' song-writing was and how well The Kinks re-invented themselves over the years.

(Posted by Youtube Stream for iPhone (yst.me) on behalf of phoiming at twitter)

  • I LOVE YOUTUBE!

  • this is so early seventies. great song!

  • OMG, I HAVE SOME TEA DO DRINK WHILE LISTENING TO THIS

  • God bless the Kinks. :')

  • I've been listening to this song since it came out back in the early seventies. But back then I never dreamed that many years later- I would have my three year

old grandson Jesse listen and sing along with me as well every time I brewed up a cup of tea for myself.- Saw the Kinks back then preform this song (and many others

at the Century Show in Buffalo, New York.

  • thanks for posting this amazing song & funny that shirt with the fur sleeves is back in style lol

  • I have never heard this song before, and I am in love.

  • His enthusiasm when he sings hallelujah makes me smile.

  • Have a cuppa tea!

  • If you like this.......... Youtube Kula Shaker Drink Tea For the Love of God.

    DO IT!

  • Louis, you sure have been kollecting Kinks longer than me - I was born a week or two after the wonderful Muswell Hillbillies was released! I am a child of my time for sure...keep rockin

  • My 17 yr old daughter's pet name fits nicely here - when I want a cuppa tea I sing: "Make a cuppa teeeaaa......hallelujah, Rosie Bree" She loves it. Not!

    Love ya Kinks

  • @cindersOZ Does she know the song?

  • @ColyTom yes, I have a sneaking suspicion she secretly likes the song - just hates making me cuppa tea! And teenagers are obliged to 'hate' their parents' music after all...

  • @cindersOZ teenagers are also obliged to make their oldman a cuppa.

  • @MrTillyayre Agreed, or their NOT so old ma....

  • I love this song

  • i love this song. it makes me happy. *lol*

  • I listen to this whenever I need motivated into making a cup of tea...

  • This should be the English national anthem. Thumbs up if you agree : )

  • Having been a fan since the mid-sixties (yes, I'm older than dirt) I love this song along with a zillion others. In fact, The Kinks never made a bad album in this fanatics mind. If one listens to the critics, the only thing the Kinks did was in the mid to late 60s; however, I even love their so-called "over-the-top" rock operas from the 70s such as the "Preservations Act 1 &2" and of course "Soap Opera." Listen to the cut off of "Soap Opera" called "Ducks on the Wall." One of the funniest.

  • @louisVAogden

They're brilliant aren't they- and, still, so underrated. I don't know their work as well as I gather you do, but I know enough of it to say I've been amused, gladdened, and deeply move by it. Davies has such musical and lyrical range.

  • @written12

Yes indeed they are brilliant. I just counted my Kink's albums and have 35 - 32 of which are on vinyl (GRIN). Perhaps I've been kollecting them longer than you as I bought the 1st and self-titled album in 1964. Any Kink's fan is a friend of mine!

  • Muswell Hillbillies is such a great album. This is just a taste.

  • @shirtshine73blitz it wasnt an album i was faillier with, till i watched a recording on tv of this track. Its now been ordered for next months birthday from the wife. be safe.

  • @MrTillyayre I hope you both enjoy it and happy birthday!

  • perfection.

  • Wow. Ray Davies was a FLAWLESS beauty. He was GORGEOUS. Aside from the Kinks' brilliant music, that is....

  • this song sums up my whole ethos

  • Great group. Ray & Dave never liked the name of KINKS but its so EPIC

  • Somehow i have to make a cuppa tea after i hear this... every-effing-time

  • ur a fucking biscuit

  • Love it! The end part is basically the end of the old Thomas the Tank tune as well ><

  • @kimcleaton Sounds more like the end of Jim Bowen's Bullseye to me...

  • Love Ray's hair in this...

  • For goodness sake - someone put the kettle on!

  • this song always reminds me of my boyfriend :)

  • He looks like Noel Fielding...

  • @punkface4936

    Noel Fielding looks like him

  • He looks like Isaac Newton (:

  • excellent and very smart songwriter.

  • Ha, if someone had never heard the kinks before..for whatever reason I have no idea..listening to Apeman than this would throw them off. :^P

  • really a good quality video for 1972

  • go on Ray! Love Mick having a quick swig before playing haha.

  • EARL GREY!!!

  • I'm watching this with a cup of tea in my hand and a smile on my face.

What a way to start the day :)

  • Tea and oranges. Pennyroyal tea!!! No sect or organization...

  • the greatest songwriter of all time without a doubt, he can make up songs about any topic

  • @rickydicky100

Certainly the wittiest songwriters of the 20th century.

  • Mad about these boys...Ahh! Never a stray moment:)

  • I feel cheated because we only got to here the top pop songs they did. These guys are not just talented singers, they are so funny.

  • If I were a country, this would be my national anthem. Happy birthday, Ray!

  • I,Like, Tea!

  • Hoe lang gaat dit nog door?

  • The Kinks, featurig Jesus and Paul McCartney's son on piano!

  • Try not to smile when Ray smiles & raises his eyebrows @ 0:25. Go ahead, try.

  • @WinterIvyDawn I tried, and it didn't work...

  • my British best friend showed me this song about a year ago.. it's been stuck in my head forever.

  • I love Ray's facial expressions when he performs. He's just so great <3

  • Time for a brew up.

  • 0:04 LOL, Drummer had to get some tea, and he knows it too, just look at that expression, hes like "Yeah that's right, got some tea."

  • @itsjakeydaman Mick Avory is a legend!

  • need a cup of rosy lee

  • I prefer coffee.

  • I like so much iced tea.

  • What an awesome band!!! Love the Kinks..

  • DOCTOR RAY DAVIES IS RIGHT. FROM NOW ON ITZ A ONLY A CUPPA TEA FOR ME....HALLELUJAH!!!!!!

  • 574 are Muswell Hillbillies, 11 people are idiots.

  • It's such a pleasure to look at these cheerful people.

  • I love Ray's gigantic leg stomps.

  • How can anyone dislike this song?

  • This song is what made me try tea until I liked it.

  • Great song, I wish I liked tea.

  • The pianist's face and finger style is kind of how I play piano in my head when I pretend that I can play piano.

  • @Mangina9000 I thought i was the only one who pretended i can play lmao

  • better than the beatles

  • @irishjanet fuck that

  • mmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm nice

  • hallelujah! about to have some cinnamon tea, rosalie!

  • I'm hearing Fog On The Tyne a little in the melody, though I think neither band were copying eachother as they were so closely conceived. A bit like the Jean Genie and Blockbuster guitar riffs were probably recorded about the same time.

  • 0:20...... i love what he does with his eye brows

  • @gg136800yyk ...and the rest of his body...(not meant to be perverted)...Anyway, the man's a genius!! So yeah, agreed 100% !!

  • They look like they're having a good time. Chrissake, have a cuppa tea.

  • Lovely song, but peeps, please stop kiss ass to get thumbs up, would ya?!

  • Having a lovely cuppa tea and two buttered scones right now.

    Never been happier!

  • I'm convinced anyone that doesn't like this just doesn't "get it"

  • Instead of a rating system by numbers, it should be categorized by people's skin colors/races. Then people would be like "Brown people need a cuppa tea" I would get a kick out of it.

  • 'Muswell Hillbillies' is such an awesome album! Too bad about the buried vocals in the mix though, not the least on this song. In this clip at least the lead vocal sounds a bit louder, but the chorus could still have more power!

  • dont drink koffe i drink tea my dear... oh... i am at the wrong song :D

mh... normally i dont drink tea, but i have watched this and now i am drinking a cup of tea... =)

  • I love how he smiles so much in his performances :)

  • @xArmagideonTime Coz hes battered all the time :)

  • if i need a little boost to cheer myself up, all i have to do is watch this video! God Save The Kinks!!! :))

  • think dave looks alot like page here

  • I like smoking a bowl to this song. And then drinking TEA!

  • These guys are high as kites here....

  • gosh this was made before I was born and still managed to get over 100k views on youtube - big up the kinks!!!

  • God bless the kinks

  • I like how they show the drummer enjoying a cup :)

  • Kinks and Jethro Tull.

best British music of the seventies.

  • I want to see a fan video to this song, and the part where he's listing off all the times to have tea, just the situation getting more and more violent in ways of giving people tea.

  • This makes me really want tea. And the worst part is that I don't bloody well like tea.

  • Muswell Hill Rules!!

  • This should be Britain's national anthem. (:

  • down-voted for not being able to embed the kinks before they sold out on facebook

  • tea Party avant la lettre et voilá power to the people who like tea

  • Does anyone know where I can download this for free frostwire doesnt have it.

  • @ivanandjeska Nah, I'm not sure where you can d/l this song for free, but I know where you can shut your teahole and go buy a Kinks CD!

  • they should have been at rally4sanity ahaha

  • How clear is that

  • How clear is that .Intence

  • i could imagine hobbits dancing and singing this if they were talking about beer instead

  • ANYONE KNOW WHERE CHINA IS?

THEY CHANGED CEYLON TO MANY TIGERS IN THE PLANTATIONS.

  • Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant Brilliant! Love Ray, love the Kinks! Perfect, and I've been drinking tea lately from morning till night. He's right too - it's good for whatever ails you. I'm actually quite sick right now, but fighting through it. Although I get tired of it sometimes, I can't stop drinking the tea - morning, noon and night. Have another cuppa tea!!!

  • beautiful

  • oh gott wie schelcht

  • great big sea covers this on their new album, it's pretty good

  • @GenghisWanghis yea ... shame it could never be as awsome as this

  • @jamreaper yeah could never be simply 'as' awesome because it is so much way more totally awesomer

  • @GenghisWanghis it doesnt matter how smart you are with your "language" the kinks r still better than EVERYTHING ... even topless women

  • @jamreaper Perhaps topless women serving tea?

  • @28if ... ok you got me there - but only if the kinks were playing in the background :P

  • It may well be, especially given the nostalgic context of the song, and the entire album for that matter!

  • "Tea" was also a double entendre, especially in the time period of this song...."Tea" was one of the many slang terms for pot......I wonder which one Ray was thinking of??? "You have tea with your afternoon tea"!

  • @MrCrosstiewalker I think he's just singing about good old PG Tips or Tetley.

  • 5 people are in desperate need of a cup of tea

  • @jackwhitescousin sugar????

  • @jackwhitescousin it seems 10 people are now... what is wrong with them?

  • @fwzzybird They really hate tea... Poor people.

  • The Kinks are so faithful and loyal to their own music, when they play live

This soing sounds identical to the original studio recording, but slightly different enough to tell they are not just moving their lips or faking playing the instruments

Also the depth of this simple subject, tea, in the way Ray describes it, would make Lennon, McCartney, Jagger, etc. so jeaulous about it

Thank you WhiteRose63 for this great pice

  • What a great song!!

    The Kinks are sooooo British!!

  • Didn't know Jesus plays the keyboard.

  • The Kinks are EPIC...love em!!!

  • i love music from the 70;s

  • its funny most bands end up back at a wester =n country sound

  • This is one of the Kinks greatest songs.
