We were 33 1/2 hours late into Chicago. We would have been passed by the previous days train, if it had not been 12 hours late itself!

Train was stuck twice. Once in the Sierra's for almost 19 hours and once in the Rockies.
How common is this type of delay?
I am planning a trip westbound in dec.
I assume they will provide extra meals???
