It's picking up a lot of noise and ambience. Would you say when it's set on the shotgun setting it's much less noise? Is the noise floor always that high?
@welshbay rode has way too much bottom end everything has to be adjusted in post to keep everyone from sounding like Barry White its not good for film making.
@OverclockersHQ yeah and this one is all treble and not to mention the terrible hisssssss....I just dont see how you could say this is better than the rode...and it's probably you just messing up the rodes quality...
there is one on ebay for 91. dollars im trying to find a review for that one.. the tittle is Stereo Video Shotgun Mic for JVC Everio GZ-HD30,HD10 if you know any reviews or have this mic can you tell me how good is it? i will sub to u ;) thankss
OverclockersHQ Oh? Would you mind making a video reviewing a few microphones for us? Would really appreciate it, making a production, and video is 2/3 audio.
@NitsanPictures the whole purpose of testing a mics performance is seeing how well it does with ambient noise...if every one shot in a quite room we wouldn't need shot gun mics....
@OverclockersHQ yeah but this is picking up a lot of the hiss.so therefore its not that quality.(from what I see and hear)...maybe you should rig it to a mic stand pointing almost all the way down to block out all the other noise.testing it when the ambient noise is in the polar pattern is just dumb and THAT defeats the purpose.it needs to be pointing down since it picks up noise from the back and certain frequencies from the side.also these arent really meant for indoors.hypercardioid is better
@RedSpectrumPictures not entirely sure whats rude about what you just said...but yes I use both....for reviews only one but when we are making films for my company we use 2, one on camera and one boom...you can buy one from our site the links in the description of this video. Our supplier has tons.
@javieralza ahh there is telephoto and omni directional. if you want to get the entire room you use the omni (normal) setting if you want only what one person is saying then you use Telephoto and point it directly at their mouth (thats what we use)
@OverclockersHQ OH THANK GOD IT HAS THAT SETTIN, i though shotgun mics can only do directinal, i need the normal setting, mega wirth getting, HELL YEAH!!!
I have the rokinon 8mm fisheye, and since the mic is so long, won't you be able to see it on the footage of my t3i ? someone help me please !

I'm sorry, but why so much static and that hum in the backround??
swissdude101 1 year ago 5
@swissdude101 the hum is a switch (has a fan running in it) on our bench not the mics fault

@OverclockersHQ
You guys really should have done this in a quite room. I mean come on.

@OverclockersHQ
Yes but there's no way for the viewer to know how much of that is background noise and how much is just white noise from the mic.
