How so? Toronto and Montreal had territorial rights!! How can the Rangers or Bruins compete with that? And the Rangers have more Cups than the Black Hawks and one less Cup than the Bruins. The Leafs by themselves have more Cups than the 3 teams combined. It wasn't easier. I didn't even mention Montreal's Cups. If anything it was harder to win back then. I'd like to see if Montreal/Toronto had those same territorial rights to players in baseball! THEY would have been the laughing stock of mlb.

But 1994 was bought, and you can't deny it, not only was the salary cap established after that year from complaining teams, but Rangers that year took anyone they wanted, over payed them, and wiped their butts for them (Kinda seems the same way now.)
Lundqvist is deff. getting something more from the Rangers as well...if hes an olympian, and a very high rated goaltender, why would he agree to drop his salary this year to less? HMMM?

oh yeah, definitely. that's how most players are nowadays, i understand that. im just saying that there's just a select few players out there who take paycuts to open up capspace to help out their team. for example, like i said before, paul mara.
i wouldnt be surprised if they gave him his 'under the table' money, but i'm sure there's plenty of other guys who get a portion of their pay, like that. in stuff like this there's always at least a little corruption behind a lot of things.

You guys wrecked them, we outplayed them, any other wins besides the Avs with that coach Tortalinni or whatever, haha, I think not.

And the coaching makes a hella difference. Torts fits almost perfectly into our situation and the team we have.
On torts debut, there was a huge, noticeable positive, change that game. Our offense was producing so much more chances,our PP looked so much better, and we still kept the pucks outta the net and stayed solid defensively.
Offensive chances and a half-decent PP were something Renney wasnt bringing to the team.
