Sirlin is a joke, he may be Mr. Theory Fighter but all he's managed to do is pretty much take the human equation out of everything by implying that you can program your opponent to do whatever you want. He also fails at understanding that luck is just as important as skill in a game where you have little/no time to think, and experience alone is not enough to win on. Even the best players get randomed out. Which ultimately proves that either no one listens to Sirlin, or he's wrong.
I think it is interesting to see the juxtaposition of american and japanese arcade cabinets. Daigo is playing on a small, compact, sit down unit using a ball top and most likely sanwa parts. Sirlin is playing on a LARGE, standing up machine with bat tops and more that likely much firmer controls.

Then after the throw he starts doing the small slides, which is another bad move trying to maintain pressure, when clearly you dont have control. Daigo sweeps, then every Shoto knows to throw out jab dp because its safe.
Then he still feels the panic as Daigo jumps in and he tries to throw a move out twice !! and pays the price against the easy shoto trick of jump in jab dp.
The trick was that Daigo got Sim to come to him, it should be vice versa.

watching this video, what we can say is that sirlin don't deserve playing aggainst pro players! He doesn't have any strategy, only a lot of concepts and cheats that he doesn't know to apply. What matters to know well the theory of a game and to play so badly?

Sirlin himself said that daigo is on a completely different level than just about everyone else on the planet (and daigo's tourney results prove it).
That doesn't make sirlin a bad or even average player. It's not like sirlin gets trounced in tourneys often, he usually does quite well, making him more than legit competition in a pro tournement.
Well he did write the guy beating him in this video as the "best overall fighting game player on planet Earth" in his book. You should see some other videos where he also does rather well. Everyone has their matches where they do poorly.
Plus, you don't have to be the best in the world to understand the concept of strategy required in these games. That's why he wrote the book. To help with those that don't yet understand the concept.
I agree, i have seen Sirlin play before, and he is a solid player, but Daigo is just too damn good. He knows what you are thinking the entire time (I he says so quite and emotionless in order to hear other peoples thoughts :P).
I respect Sirlin for using a less-advantageous character like Dhalsim against Daigo and his, again, Ryu.

If you actually pay attention to the move input...they are waiting for the other (player) to make a mistake. This entire match is a series of defensive measures and counter-measures.
In addition to that, Street Fighter 2 is notorious for its quick matches, so you shouldn't judge someone entirely because of one loss.

This is just one of his many accomplishments. He's a genius in his own right, and not just because of HD remix. Have you read the guy's writing? He knows more about game design than most developers, and he's an MIT graduate (in mathematics and business). So yeah, he's a genius, and quite frankly I'm sick of all the jealous hatred thrown his way. I think he did a great job on HD remix - sure it needs patching, but he was the right man for the job, and the critics are just change-averse assholes.

Sirlin himself said that daigo is on a completely different level than just about everyone else on the planet (and daigo's tourney results prove it).
That doesn't make sirlin a bad or even average player. It's not like sirlin gets trounced in tourneys often, he usually does quite well, making him more than legit competition in a pro tournement.

Well he did write the guy beating him in this video as the "best overall fighting game player on planet Earth" in his book. You should see some other videos where he also does rather well. Everyone has their matches where they do poorly.
Plus, you don't have to be the best in the world to understand the concept of strategy required in these games. That's why he wrote the book. To help with those that don't yet understand the concept.
