The so-called "metal fans" or "headbangers" who still waste their time discussing which band is the best (Metallica or Megadeth) certainly didn't see the two bands performing live. I can say, I've seen Metallica in January and Megadeth in April in Porto Alegre - BRA, and both concerts were amazing. Both are excelent bands with excelent performances. Fortunately we still have these two great bands on the road. You should see them playing live before making those useless comparisons.
