matt smith's a'right he's just too...jokey. you wouldn't really think he's a 900 year old time lord and he never seems serious! it starts to get annoying! and he doesn't pull off the charm so well...maybe cus, he looks like a girl! :P
Am I the only one who feels a little bit cheated that we never find out the circumstances that caused the Eighth Doctor (Paul McGann) to regenerate into the Ninth (Christopher Eccleston)? I think Eighth to Ninth is the only one never to be described anywhere, TV, movie, or otherwise. Really odd too, seeing how its implied that Nine was the one who ended the Time War, destroying both the Daleks and Time Lords together-- probably the hardest thing he *ever* had to do.

@nowhereibelongvip Yep. As great as Tennant was, Eccleston's Doctor seems a necessary as the war-wounded, shell-shocked Doctor. Still a (reluctant) soldier at heart - reckless in some ways, with a carefree facade. I think Eccleston's "harshness" was just right for the backstory of the Doctor coming out of the Time War.

I started out watching the new series; I had never seen any of the original show.
So when it came to regeneration, I got soooo mad! I can't even tell you.
I thought the producers where just throwing some new guy in for the heck of it.
"Hey, I know what let's do! Let's get rid of the absolutely amazing actor we've got now, so we can bump up the ratings! Just for a lark!!"
Later, I found out how the regeneration works...
and then, a couple episodes later, I fell head over heels for David...
