@youcantbreakthat2 you are the biggest fucktard I've ever seen in my life... Notice that Rhett was singing long before anyone even knew who Justin Moore was.
Just because Justin Moore has a hit with this song doesnt make him a good singer, it means the label put way more money into him. Rhett Akins and the hat act of the 90's kicked ass. I watched Rhett Akins, Blake Shelton, and Craig Morgan with just their guitars. Best concert ever.
Rhett nor justin moore wrote this song. Dallas davidson, bob hatch and brett jones wrote this song for rhett to release on an album he put out in 2006 an justin say he wanted to record this song as his first single off his new album because it was his inspiration to the song he wrote titled grandpa
to all you mother******* who think rhett wrote this song are all dumbasses Justin Moore wrote it so all y'all with all your comments and shove them up your ass.. Justin Moores is way better at sing his song then rhett akins singing it.P.S. I'm not hating on Rhett he is a great singer
@jdb89142 the more i listen to this version n try to like it the more it blows..... weres ya TARHEELS ALL DAY now after duke spanked that ass... ur bein quiet
rhett akins is a great GREAT song writer....just cuz youre a GREAT song writer doesnt mean you are a good singer but thank you rhett for writing this song
yall dont think rhett isnt sitting back counting the money he made and still makes off the songs for jason and justin and he has a humble head on his shoulders he knows they would sound better singin it but lets see em write the songs rhett writes for em
Jason and Justin both got Brantley and Rhett's songs on the radio because they have already made it big. Brantley is also a song writer. I don't know much about Rhett. But Brantley has had more than just Dirt Road Anthem remade my Jason. It all started with the best of me. But if you go through youtube and look there are alot of other "bigshots" who weren't the original artists of their big hits. Like brad paisley.
@jdb89142 I just assumed that Rhett co-wrote it with Dallas because they are writing partners. I had seen Rhett and Dallas recently at a Luke Bryan concert and they sang a bunch of the songs they had written. I guess I missed the part that Dallas had written this particular song with other people.
It amazes me how many people are here claiming justin moore wrote this, and that rhett wrote it, neither did Dallas Davidson, Rob Hatch and Brett Jones did. Just clear up all this confusion, where do yall gets yall stuff from?
@jdb89142 I mistakenly thought that Rhett had co-written it with Dallas. I was at a Luke Bryan concert a couple of months ago and Rhett and Dallas were there as well. They sang some of the songs they had written and I just assumed that both of them had written this one. I don't know where people are getting the idea that Justin wrote it. His verson of it is awesome.
Same thing happened with "Broken Road." Nitty Gritty Dirt Band's original version, again, is "nice." But the the Rascal Flatts version is "powerful," and that's why it became a hit. It just goes to show that it's not enough to write a brilliant song. If it's not also performed brilliantly, it's goin' nowhere!
Are we listening to the same two songs? Justin's version is a bangin', smokin', sizzlin' hot performance. Justin's vocal performance is absolutely brilliant, and the band's instrumentation is so much more powerful than Rhett's band. I played Justin's version for my wife, who only listens to country music when I play it, and by the end she was balling her eyes out ! Rhett's version is "nice," but it just doesn't do the powerful lyrics anywhere near the justice they deserve.
THIS YOUNG MAN DOES A GOOD JOB WITH THIS SONG, BUT MAYBE THE SONG WAS AHEAD OF IT'S TIME. I AM A SONGWRITER MYSELF. I UNDERSTAND HOW A SONG COMES OUT WITH ONE ARTIST TODAY. IT WAS FIRST RECORDED BY BILLY DAVIS AND MARILYN MCCOO IN 1968. WITH MARILYN SINGING THE SONG BY HER SELF. 17 YEARS LATER (WHITNEY HOUSTON) RECORDED IT. #1 CHART.

i think this song means more to rhett i feel like i understand it more when he sings it like hes almost telling a story that justin jus cant seem to get right
@Aryance08 how come justin moore didn't change the part of the song were he say's my ''cousin john in vietnam'' to '' my cousin jack the one left back in iraq'' considering justin's generation is in the middle east , and rhett's generation is vietnam ?
@tulsaoki58 I just said he is more believable when he sings the song. Im sure Justin love Rhett's song they way he wrote it and didn't want to change it.
no matter who sings this song or any brantley gilbert song or whoever these guys and gals have serious talent and modesty to write these songs and hand em off to bigger names because they are amazing
I think it would be cool, if these two tried to duo. I don't know if it would work, but I love both of their voices. Justin's is a bit more deeper and pronounced which is why some people think his is better. Is there anyway for someone(who is good with computers) to try to make it sound like their singing a duo?
personaly i like Justin's better. i like his voice better. but regardless this a beautiful song. only difference is in the second verse Rhett hugs the girls from '89 while Justin hugs the ones from '99. great song either way. its funny. i have rock cover songs and country cover songs and the ones that sound great both ways are the country ones. rock is hit or miss in terms of cover songs.
I'm glad to start hearing these writers singing their own songs! Brantley's music is getting airtime on local radio stations in the Tampa area! He's touring a lot too, w/ sold out shows!
@lonerboy24 rhett needs to make songs that best illustrate his vocal quality. some songs aren't mean't to be sung by a certain person. it is commonplace for artists to trade songs or reproduce a song that they feel could be a better version for the song and get the permission neccessary to reproduce it.
@CarolinaCountryBoy85 idk it sounds like an act of favoritism. there's singers out there whom no matter what they release as a single, radio refuses to play them. it gets annoying
Im not gonna hate on Justin moore , but this song, jason aldean covering colt ford, and brantley gilberts songs shows the bullshit going on in nashville in todays times! Why didnt Rhett get radio time for this great song? Why does jason aldeans covers get radio play over colts and brantleys songs?? Thats what i wanna know!!!!! Its not about the music and the artist, its about image and that to me is BULLSHITT!!!!!!!!!
@jdb89142 they get permission to reproduce it. some people sing songs better. and they dont play colt ford on the radio because he is not accepted enough to play "country rap" on country stations. notice that jason's version did better than colts. as with justin moores versus rhetts.
@jdb89142 you act like this is something new.... lots of people write songs that others end up with hits... this has been true for many many decades...Sunday Morning Down , big hit for Cash was written by Kris Kristofferson. Rhett is making money by this song being redone and made into a hit by Justin Moore.
@jdb89142 It has to do with marketing. Sometimes record companies spend multiple THOUSANDS of dollars to get a radio station to play their songs. Some record companies just dont have these kind of resources. Whether an artist is good or not unfortuantely has almost no bearing on it anymore. Plus look at what record company he was originally signed to DECCA, same one that Mark Chesnutt got moved to and after that DECCA tanked and both Mark and Rhett lost their spots on the charts.
@jdb89142 That doesn't just happen in nashville, and they are paid very well for others to do their songs. It actually helped Brantley get his name out there. He and Jason are actually friends. Its a normal thing for others to cover songs and has been going on for years. Its understandable why someone not familiar with how the music industry works would have a beef about it
@jdb89142 yea, nevermind most country music today, fuck it, its a bore. most of the nashville today is just pop stars like taylor swift and carrie underwood. and honetsly T swift and carrie underwood aint country at all..theyre pop. list to DAC, CDB, hank (SR/JR/III), ect. the only good MODERN
@jdb89142 As an artist myself I can definitely see where you're coming from but either way it is getting them publicity. I found Rhett months ago because of this song. And you're not the only one to ask why Brantley and Rhett get airtime for this; however, that's just how it works when somebody does a cut of your song.
@jdb89142 Rhett Akins should have gotten radio time for this song but it isn't his Justin Moore wrote the song but he just needed someone to sing it supposedly because he couldn't sing it through without breaking into tears and i can understand why because i tried to sing it after i lost my grandpa and i couldn't.
@jdb89142 they arent stealing the songs they are what music producers called cuts every time you download this song or the ones from jason that are originally brantley's the original singers get some the profit
Rhett wrote/co-wrote this song. He is doing mostly writing these days instead of recording himself. He and his writing partners have written a lot of the hits for other artists.
@MrSnowman673 your dumb...this is fer sure rhett akins song...hes written ALOT of number one songs..your obviously just another dumbass confused by todays pussy country/pop singers..rhett and justin are both real country!
@ukbigblue11 get the hell out outa here, and na i aint hating on j moore ,im hating on how the music industry is set up, i met moore twice and am a big fan of him and his version of this song, and you speak like a true Kentucky fan, TARHEELS ALL DAY!
rhett akins is a legend dont yall member that aint my truck that song is awsome justin moore is good but id never compare him to rhett no matter what song hes sings tho i think hes does sing this one better but rhett is far better songwriter and singer then justin will ever be
ive been following rhett since 1993, he has more talent than half of the wanna be's that says they are country now, walkin around with their basball cap tryin to sound like somebody else. rhett is rhett he sounds like nobody, and his natural. tell justin moore to write 5 #1's ,
Justin moores version of the song brought tears to my eyes. He put so much more emotion into singing it. Rhett did a great job, I just prefer Justins version.
hmmm not gonna lie i think i like the justin moore version a little better. Rhett is great too but for this song I think I like Justin Moores sound. Rhett is great song writer (even though I know he didnt write this song), he writes ALOT of great songs.
justin moore's still a fag...my homeboy punkd his ass out in vidalia.he aint no george strait he jus poses like a cowboy.afta da sho he dresses up in sum queer shit
The only thing that pisses me off that Justin Moore, and Jason Aldean can't make up their own songs. I mean both of them are constantly taking Brantly Gilbert, and Rhett's .. They both write about lifetime expieriences.. If Moore, and Aldean were half the artists everyone thinks they are, they would make their own shit up.. And Moore took this song to far.. it was a plain and simple harmony song, and Justin Moore exaggerated every pitch, and lyric to the song... And Aldean butchered Dirt Road An
@bcar52 HA. you dont know shit do you? they each took a song an re-did it.. pretty sure there are alot of country artists that have redone songs.. are they half the artists to you now?
@bcar52 Moore has wrote SEVERAL of his songs..he re did this one..ONLY THIS ONE..and personally sounds a hell of alot better...and the pitch Justin hits is perfect it brings emotion and a natural accent. That's why he gets more and more fans because he is real and is bringing back country from this pop shit thats trying to take over..I met the man and he is a nice down to earth country fellow..try meeting him one day
Both are good but different. It is very hard to listen to what you think is the original (JM) then hear the actual original and not make comparisions. There are a number of county songs that have the same comparative context, I.e., original verses remake, just depends on what your ear got use to. JM guitaring playing is stronger, nicer riff chourus.
OH My goodness. I should have known that this was originally Rhett Akins or someone else's song. This is a great song, but Justin Moore has got to be the WORST and untalented singer to chart. he's just terrible..off key and so bad. I have been saying these last few weeks, 'it's too bad someone else didn't sing this song, as anyone else could sing it better!' sure enough, this version is 1,000,000x better. I KNEW IT! Too funny. GOOD JOB Mr. Akins!
@wyomingbuffalo Yeah...me too for real, buddy. I can't STAND Moore's almost fake southern accent. But I am STUCK on Rett Akins's original version. While I'm sure JM has permission to sing it, the original is far better.
Justin Moore is my second favorite singer... that bein said Rhett Akins is hands down my favorite singer and his version is way better than Justin Moores. but everyone has their opinion (whether its right or not is another story)
@johnlynch2 okkk welll Dallas Davidson, Rob Hatch and Brett Jones... I swear I thought I hear JM say Rhett in an interview! lol Well Dallas is part of the peach pickers at least!!! :)) I just figured with how many hits those boys had out these days .. Rhett was on this one. My bad!!! I wish I could write period! hahaaa! Thanks for the info though :)
you all are fuckin retarded... justin "fake ass" moore couldnt begin to fill rhetts boots... it just drives me nuts for some country pop douche to re-do a song and have a success while rhett sits at home...
@jayball2003 Fuck you, if you weren't an ill-informed fuck head, you would know that a singer cant just take someone else's song, Rhett gave Justin permission to reproduce it, and just so ya know, Justin Moore aint no fake ass, if you don't like Justin Moore, Hank Jr, Waylon, Haggard, Cash, Trace Adkins, Eric Church, and of course Rhett Akins, you can kiss my ass, Justin Moore aint no fake.
@redneckcubpuller well no shit he gave him permission, hes gotta make some money. and to put eric church and justin moore in the same paragraph as some of the others mentioned, is a trainwreck. lets just put it like this, moore doing this song, would be like hanson redoing "ring of fire" and seeing crazy success for it. Just not right.
@jayball2003 Honestly, you need to learn a lot more about ole Justin before ya go calling him out. Hanson and Cash aren't anywhere near close to this. Cash is an all around badass, and all of his songs are true. Yes, I'm sure this song is true too, and does it even matter who sings it? The point is to send a message to country fans, Everyone wants Heaven to be closer, and personally, Justin sings it with more heart than Rhett anyways.
@redneckcubpuller thanks to everyone who liked this, I'm glad there are still some people who know what country is! Not Rascall Flatts or Keith Urban!
@redneckcubpuller Don't get me wrong, Rhett Akins is a great, and it is a shame his version didn't get radio time, but Justin Moore DEFINITELY is NOT a "Country pop douche". He is the most country singer in this era filled with fakes. Justin is the real deal, and I think it is great that the song is a hit, regardless of who sings it. Both artists did a great job.
@redneckcubpuller I agree 100% but there's one thing. Rhett Akins had no say whether or not Justin Moore did a cover. Thats up to the record label and the song writer, in this case the very talented Dallas Davidson along side of Rob Hatch and Brett Jones. Just trying to get credit where credits due! Thanks for being a country fan!
@youcantbreakthat2 you are the biggest fucktard I've ever seen in my life... Notice that Rhett was singing long before anyone even knew who Justin Moore was.

I like both versions either way its a good song (: It doesnt matter who sings it. The lyrics is all that matters.

ive been following rhett since 1993, he has more talent than half of the wanna be's that says they are country now, walkin around with their basball cap tryin to sound like somebody else. rhett is rhett he sounds like nobody, and his natural. tell justin moore to write 5 #1's ,

Justin moores version of the song brought tears to my eyes. He put so much more emotion into singing it. Rhett did a great job, I just prefer Justins version.
CiprichJ 7 months ago
Not gunna lie, Justin's version sounds better. Rhett is good, but Justin puts a little more emotion into it & gives it a country feel.
xXxRedneckGirlxXx 7 months ago
hmmm not gonna lie i think i like the justin moore version a little better. Rhett is great too but for this song I think I like Justin Moores sound. Rhett is great song writer (even though I know he didnt write this song), he writes ALOT of great songs.

And Aldean butchered Dirt Road An
bcar52 7 months ago
@bcar52 HA. you dont know shit do you? they each took a song an re-did it.. pretty sure there are alot of country artists that have redone songs.. are they half the artists to you now?
cRichard91 6 months ago
@bcar52 Moore has wrote SEVERAL of his songs..he re did this one..ONLY THIS ONE..and personally sounds a hell of alot better...and the pitch Justin hits is perfect it brings emotion and a natural accent. That's why he gets more and more fans because he is real and is bringing back country from this pop shit thats trying to take over..I met the man and he is a nice down to earth country fellow..try meeting him one day

I like RA but he sounds like a gag in this song. JMs version is much better bc he actually sings with emotion
evansj62 8 months ago
Both are good but different. It is very hard to listen to what you think is the original (JM) then hear the actual original and not make comparisions. There are a number of county songs that have the same comparative context, I.e., original verses remake, just depends on what your ear got use to. JM guitaring playing is stronger, nicer riff chourus.

I like Justin's better
thecardcollector96 8 months ago
OH My goodness. I should have known that this was originally Rhett Akins or someone else's song. This is a great song, but Justin Moore has got to be the WORST and untalented singer to chart. he's just terrible..off key and so bad. I have been saying these last few weeks, 'it's too bad someone else didn't sing this song, as anyone else could sing it better!' sure enough, this version is 1,000,000x better. I KNEW IT! Too funny. GOOD JOB Mr. Akins!
wyomingbuffalo 8 months ago
@wyomingbuffalo Yeah...me too for real, buddy. I can't STAND Moore's almost fake southern accent. But I am STUCK on Rett Akins's original version. While I'm sure JM has permission to sing it, the original is far better.
MsSwwood 8 months ago
@MsSwwood wow, you sound like a clueless, blonde bitch. Im pretty sure you dont have a "fake" accent.
cRichard91 6 months ago
@cRichard91 I am not clueless, blonde, but I can sure be a bitch. My accent is not fake. It is a southern N.C. accent. :D
MsSwwood 6 months ago
@cRichard91 BTW, if you're from Canada, wtfh do you know about a true southern American accent? Who's the bitch now?
MsSwwood 6 months ago
@MsSwwood ive been to the southern states plenty of times.

TheAmericanPatriot28 8 months ago
you all are fuckin retarded... justin "fake ass" moore couldnt begin to fill rhetts boots... it just drives me nuts for some country pop douche to re-do a song and have a success while rhett sits at home...
jayball2003 8 months ago
@jayball2003 Fuck you, if you weren't an ill-informed fuck head, you would know that a singer cant just take someone else's song, Rhett gave Justin permission to reproduce it, and just so ya know, Justin Moore aint no fake ass, if you don't like Justin Moore, Hank Jr, Waylon, Haggard, Cash, Trace Adkins, Eric Church, and of course Rhett Akins, you can kiss my ass, Justin Moore aint no fake.
redneckcubpuller 8 months ago 36
@redneckcubpuller well no shit he gave him permission, hes gotta make some money. and to put eric church and justin moore in the same paragraph as some of the others mentioned, is a trainwreck. lets just put it like this, moore doing this song, would be like hanson redoing "ring of fire" and seeing crazy success for it. Just not right.
jayball2003 8 months ago
@jayball2003 your a complete idiot. just sayin.
crriderz01 8 months ago
@jayball2003 Honestly, you need to learn a lot more about ole Justin before ya go calling him out. Hanson and Cash aren't anywhere near close to this. Cash is an all around badass, and all of his songs are true. Yes, I'm sure this song is true too, and does it even matter who sings it? The point is to send a message to country fans, Everyone wants Heaven to be closer, and personally, Justin sings it with more heart than Rhett anyways.

redneckcubpuller 7 months ago
