My take is maybe the person is away at uni and has 2 years left. Would make sense for the line whole new you- educated maybe loss of innocence, the line about shedding so many tears-the distance and time they're apart. I guess that's what is so cool about music is we can create these stories and interpretations based on our own experience/wonder.

Weekend in the City is their weakest album, I think! Silent alarm and Intimacy are brilliant... My favourite songs would be Little Thoughts, This Modern Love, I still remember, Signs, Blue Light, Helicopter, Like eating glass!
