I used to usher concerts back in the 70's. I often met the bands,but mostly chatted with the roadies. I was definitely not a groupie. I usually got backstage passes, anytime I wanted. I found it surprising that more often than not, the band members would prefer to talk, and hang out. It was almost as if they were relieved that nothing was 'expected' of them. I recall Jon Anderson of "Yes" telling me how much he missed his wife!

I would like to call myself a groupie because I feel the same way these chicks feel when I go to see a musical act. And I DO engage in music myself. I am a vocalist. It's the energy you get high off of not the dick. Even though it might be a plus but it's never necessary. A groupie is not someone who just fucks the band, they are people who worship the band.
