This guy obviously has his 'instrument' and is proficient, replete with every stylistic idiosyncratic cliche that every other dweeb attempting to render a 'soulful' vocal has in this day. And it comes off as septic and cold compared to the beautifully understated and heart rending performance by Herb Alpert. Thanks for posting.

@meatpole55 You may have fallen victim to the understated performance of the original with Alpert. He tried to drip "cool," and for the most part, he did. But this singer is doing something with the song that most pros do: he's owning it. Soul? Alpert had about as much soul as a jar of cheese whiz. And it worked for him. This is probably what you remember and, in essence, expect of anyone who does this song. I have a similar issue with Bublé, although I think he's a fine technician.

@groovekitty70 ,,pagano owned the song in his own mind..but i heard alpert with so much less of a voice give so much more...what can i say ..i like cheezzz whizzzzz...

pagano has a voice but he knows it..but that dont give him a winning effort of OWNING THE SONG.ok.....whats was difficult was alpert being the age he was and making himself sound so innocent..pagano just sang the song and thats it...he owned the moment..but not the song..

@Ihy744ppp ..i dont care if its Johhny Carson..lol..this guy thinks hes hot shit..he sings good ..but not this song..i mean really..listen to pagano and alpert ..sit in a room ..nice and quiet..listen to them both..you know some people have a voice..but no soul..herb alpert had not a great voice but his soul guided that song..

i think he was very underated as a singer...

pagano doesnt have the same feeling that alpert did to make it a mega hit..hope i make no one mad..cuz i love this song..
