My distant grandfather, Sir Robert Innis, purchased Baronet title, and in 1631, married daughter Elizabeth to 14 year old baron Craigston.
Relative, Jane Innis married Thomas Pitt (the Pitt diamond=Regency Diamond. Son was Commander of East Indies, progeny was Black in House of Lords, championing racial rights.
@colinclarke1000 According to Wikipedia the song: "is a British folk song. The song is known by many titles, including "Daily Growing", "Young But Daily Growing" and "Bonny Boy is Young (But Growing)". It first appeared in print in 1792 as "Lady Mary Ann". " And it seems that Joan Baez did the first recording of it, in '61.
I prefer Joan Baez' rendition of this song to Judy Collins' although the latter is also magnificent and adds another verse that makes the ending more hopeful. Thanks so much for posting this!
Have this on vinyl. Great song and music. Thakyou Joan, you have the voice of a bird. Cannot rate this song or its rendition by you too highly.,. thankyou.
When a song starts in a minor key, and the first words are about trees and green grass, I get a funny feeling things aren't going to end well. Hey, I'm a 68 year old man, but when I feel like a good cry, all I have to do is listen to this song.
Thanks a million times for posting this! I had this album for many years and miss it terribly. Added to my Joan Baez playlist. 5*, but she deserves about 8!!
No one, no one can sing like Joan Baez. What a pure voice, crystal clear, the purest of all folk voices I have ever heard.. And to quote, "No one can sing them, quite the way I do." I think that is very true. Of course I have been a hugh Baez fan for many, many, many years!
I agree. Watching the Joan Baez's current videos, it still surprises like her, after so many years, keep the force - and the tenderness at the same time - in her voice.
Lovely voice back then

For those who want to sing it, the song is based on three chords : Fmin , Bbmin, and Cmin.
it goes like this :
Fm -Bbm- Fm- Cm
Fm-Bbm-Fm-Cm-Bbm -Fm
The bass section while playing the Fmin is : C-Bb-G#-G-F

Joan's first two albums for Vanguard are among the greatest folk albums ever made, IMO.

At the age of fourteen, he was a married man........
At the age of fifteen, the father of a son...........
At the age of sixteen, his grave it was green....
These lyrics are so magic, the meaning of all these words is so true..
