  • Gore with Dr Schultz! yey!

  • Great Information.

  • I don't like it ! I would remove a chunk of flesh greater that the cancer size, greater in size, and in depth.

  • Those glasses are so cool! Best surgical glasses ever!

  • Oh god. Ouch. The scraping is so.... ouch. Oh well. Thanks for showing anw ^_^

  • OMG

  • That is a lot of injections.

    Nice glasses ^_^

  • oh jesus this is serious

  • Thank you very much for this video!

  • Cirujía sin cubre bocas???

  • Thanks to you and Rich for sharing this!

  • You're right...I didn't need to see this but am certainly going to share this with my sun-worshipping, love to bake in the sun friends.

  • VERY effective scare tactic. No more going out without sunscreen for me OR the rest of my family ever again!!!! Thank you so much for showing this.

  • I really appreciate you showing us this. I will share this with everyone I know.

  • Thank you for sharing this. And thank you to your patient.

  • Doctor I believe I have aquagenic pruritrus. I have read online and I seem to be having the symptoms. I am truly desperate and would appreciate if you could get back to me because I leave for bootcamp in about a month and unless I can deal with this now bootcamp is going to be even worse or I could get medically discharged. Can you please give me some advice on how to cope with it or eliminate it entirely

  • Thanks for showing this, Doc. My hubby had squamous cell cancer removed from under his eye. A plastic surgeon had to do this since it was on his face. It's not an option to go without sunscreen

  • Thanks for posting this video Doc

  • I can seriously forget about being a doctor in the near future. This procedure is just too brutal! Can't imagine myself scraping someone else's skin at all!

  • i never used sunscreen unless i went swimming or something but i'll definitely use it when just going out in the sun now... i'm very pale too x_x

  • Thank you for sharing this.

    Dr. that was very informative!

  • That was on someones LEG , just immagine what it would be like having it removed from your face.... show it to all the girls who like hitting the tanning beds for a " healthy glow". You can immagine the scarring it would leave.... between photo aging and skin cancer....i would just rather be white.....

  • Holy shit, that was brutal just watching it. I couldn't be awake for that procedure, wowza.

  • oh my god his "skin cancer" just looks like a scab or something....im scared straight hah im wearing sunscreen everyday

  • well.. I think I can take doctor out of my career choice... I didn't think it was going to be that hard to watch

  • Do these things ever ruin your lunch break appetite?!

  • Perfect! Now I can send this video to everyone so they'll get scared and where sunscreen! Thanks dr! Good thinking!

  • This was hard to watch, but I think it's important to understand

  • thank you for this. i hope your patient recovers fully! i am a bit of a sunscreen fascist and this video has only made me more militant!!

  • Thanks a lot for this video, I will put on 2x the sunscreen now:)

  • WOOHOO!!!!! finally someone who is making people see how dangerous tanning is! Thank you, thank you, thank you. It runs in our family and we are religious about putting sunscreen on us and our kids. You wouldn't believe how much ridicule we get from less informed people.

My fave channel on youtube. Thank you for all you do for us.

  • Omg! Thankyou for this video! I normally just use sun scream on my face but after seeing that.. I'll make sure to use it on my body as well! I want to be a dermatologist when I'm older so this was very nice showing us what dermatology involves! Thanks =D

Also would be nice if you make a video on the follow up! :)

  • Would you please consider giving us a follow up on Richard's recovery? thank you so much for sharing your knowledge and work. :)

  • omg this is so easy.. i thought they need to cut half of hes leg...:)

  • Hello sunscreen, you are my new friend.

  • This was really interesting to watch. It looks really painful to go through the removal of skin cancer, so I think I will apply sun screen more often instead!

  • I would honestly suggest changing the picture for this video. :/

  • This video was great....... Scary but great!!

  • I have a question about the removal process: How did you know the cancerous cells are within only those 3 layers? I know the lab report will tell you if you need to go deeper but how did you know to only scrape 3 layers? Also do you think cancerous skin cells can spread to the subcutaneous layer? Thanks for taking the time from your schedule to film this!

  • @ThanhTu420 He knows because he is a dermatologist. And yes, skin cancer cells can spread deeper, that is how it metastisizes into other parts of the body. Have a good day.

  • @ThanhTu420 I don't think he removed three "layers" of skin as such, I think he removed that area of skin three times to be thorough. You can kind of see when he first made the incision that the flesh didn't look healthy but by the third time it looked better!

  • @ThanhTu420 Also he says he is scraping out the bad tissue so as a doctor he must know the difference between bad tissue and healthy tissue.

  • thank you for this! i have been religiously covering myself in sunscreen for about a year. last summer i worked at a summer camp and due to being left out in the sun in 100 degree weather for hours on end with no shade, no hat and no sunscreen i ended up with painful sunburn. That was enough of a lesson for me.

people always say only white people have issues with skin cancer and sunburn, as a black female i can honestly say THAT IS NOT TRUE

  • Grosssssssss. Lucky he didn't get that on his face!

  • Thank you so much for showing us what happens when you don't apply sunscreen properly/at all. This is also ezpecially useful for those that are looking forward to removing their skin cancers.

  • Now I am certain dermatology is the career for me!

  • Women of color don't think you are exempt from skin cancer. You're not. You need sunscreen too.

  • one more reazon to wear sunscreen always !!!

  • I am extremely impressed in how mankind has progressed in technology to be able to do things like this.

Do I need to wear sunscreen when it rains? I do anyway but I want to know for sure.

  • HOLY SHIET

  • That really wasnt that bad

  • That really wasnt that bad

  • Thanks Doc,,, I appreciate you doing this for us!

  • I watched about 5 seconds into the "scooping" and had to turn it off cause it made me feel sick! Ha hope he's okay now

  • Thank you for this video!! I recently(about a year ago) switched to sunless tanning but many of my friends are still tanning in beds and outdoors which is scary. I will definitely share this video on my Facebook to show them the damages the sun can do.

  • You know, I was just about to go have lunch on the patio....

  • omg i thought i really wanted to be a dermatologist, but i don't know about that know. watching this almost made me gag, so i don't know if this is the career for me anymore

  • Thank you so much for the video Dr. Schultz. I was wondering do you also have to apply sun screen to your arms and legs even if you are wearing long sleeves and jeans? Thank you.

  • it looks like raspberry preserves when you were scrapping the tissue. anyways interesting video

  • I'd like to see it when it's healed again, to see the scar and all. That would be interesting to see.

  • Excellent Video. Thank you for posting.

  • wow...that is absolutely fascinating. I knew I should have been a derm!

  • I thought he was going to cut it out..the whole thing :/ i'm glad for the patient he didn't do that..i hope he's fine now

  • Hi Doc. I have a question. I have a very VERY small red (slightly raised) dot on my elbow. I am fair skinned and am pretty diligent with sunblock even daily. I did have this a few years ago and I believe it was black and I picked it and it bled for a long time. It is so tiny, looks like a pen dot. Should I get this checked? Thank you so much. - Kim

  • @kimberlysue2287 I had such dot too! I got removed it with nitrogen! The doctor told me it's linked with liver's health!

  • @SelenityLuz Wow really? Alright thank you so so much for telling me that! I will get it checked. Thank you so much!

  • ouch...I'm gonna use sunscreen always

  • @ruth72701 He said 2-3 weeks in this video.

  • OMG..Dr. Schultz..My husband came home with a gouged out skin to remove cancerous lesion. Now I know what was done to him. He had two removed from his neck and scalp.

  • Yeah I just had a childhood friend die from Skin cancer few months ago. He was actually a deeper brown complexion. Died at 29 yrs old bc he waited to get spots checked. Very sad. This opened my eyes. wheeeew

  • would you do a video on eczema? D:

  • Can't a laser be used for this?

  • thank you for this :)

  • did it smell?

  • Scared straight... I almos never put sunscreen on my legs but, I will now. Thank you!

  • I was ready for the removal, what I wasn't ready for were the glasses. lol lol

  • That was fascinating to watch! I've had no clue how skin cancers were treated, this was interesting and informative, thank you.
