  • there's a much better version starring Katsumi and Anna Nova.

  • Even above Fritz Lang, Eisenstein and Griffith : Murnau !

  • im going to watch this later when im completely baked

  • wow.. I didn't actually expect that it will be on youtube. thanks for uploading man!

  • well..it's an old movie with old effects....but it is way better than Avatar!

  • @cristisafta You don't even have to compare it to avatar ! Faust has nothing to do with today's works.

  • is this dr faustus?

  • The silent era: When america actually watched films with subtitles( sort of)

  • @ACruelPicture Spare us the nasty comments. If it weren't for Americans, they're wouldn't be youtube, asshole.

  • @ACruelPicture maybe you dont but most the movies today worth watching are all subtitled. i guess you would prefer voiceover? that only works on classic kungfu fliks, I think most americans prefer hearing the language that fits with subtitles..To see Hitler or ancient mayans giving orders in english is just fucking retarded, and is also disrespectful to the history/culture/person being portrayed

  • @chessinfantry It isn't about respect or disrespect. It's about tying to make the film successful. Not everything is personal you know.

  • This is as visually stunning and evoking as anything shot today.

  • My favorite silent movie. Some of the most imaginative visual compositions I've ever seen.

  • @Silverwire100 : I agree with you and it's also my favourite 'silent'. Also notice how incredibly well Timothy Brock's music works throughout the film. His score for this 'export version' is a masterpiece. Brock's music fits like a glove to this version of Murnau's greatest achievement.

  • Oh God thank you sooo much for posting Faust with the english intertitles!

  • all I can remember about these guys is that they released an album on clear vinyl called The Faust Tapes and it cost 50p at a time when most albums were around the £2.50p mark, oh I also seem to recall it was just a load of weird noises.........sound familiar?

  • Thank you for posting this!
