  • i was told there used to be a large garage there but ive never seen pictures of it let alone film, its amazing how rhyl used to look and still think it was a crazy idea to get rid of the floral hall, gardens and everything that made rhyl a great place to visit.what were the councilors thinking!

    great film thank you.

  • where abouts was that building with `large car park at rear` on the front of it?

  • @BlandNutz That was Brookes' Garage in East Parade near Woolworths.

  • its nice to see old footage like this well done mrs gaynor. i had many a happy holiday there from about 1972 on wards

  • thank you gaynor, this brings back so many happy memmories.

  • I've got no Rhyl school footage but you'll find some relevant photos on one of my blogs : rhyl-life.blogspot.com

  • My aunty used to have a flat on Church street, had a massive balcony, it was a nice little steet during the 60s/70s.

  • I remember those little cars, my dad in fact bought me one that you could pedel, what memories of rhyl as it was, the bike track, fantastic place, no stupid H&S rules then everyione had a great time, they say its progress, Mmmm sad, I bet if it was all put back it would be a major attraction.

  • The clip works almost like a poem about the end of innocence!

  • Yes I like Colin - the contrast between the happy times of Gaynor's children enjoying the best of times in Old Rhyl and the start of 'the end' is marked!
