Alot of people find animals in this to be normal, but it was implied often that pokemon where animals of the pokemon world. It is a cartoon however so mistakes can be made.

Please correct me if i'm wrong, but i believe that at some part of the 1st season they mention that all pokemon may come from outher space and maybe that's the reason why there are both animals and pokemon in the early episodes. After all, if there weren't true animals there wouldn't be a food chain and the whole world ecosystem would crash. But well, it's just a stupid cartoon for kids, so why bother XD

Some of you may already know this, but the reason why there's so many real fish/sea life/seafood in Pokemon (and in other animes for that matter) is because a good portion of Japan's food imports comes from fishing. Seeing as how Japan is a gigantic island and it has a lot of residential areas, there's not much land for farming, so fishing is what satisfies the demand for food. This explains why most Japanese cuisine includes fish, squid, etc, and why there's a lot of Water-type Pokemon.

Ok, something interesting: The pokemon world is an alternate version of our own. Like, if you were to look at a globe over there, it'd look the same. How do I know this? Mew is native to Guyana, South America. So, the reason why you don't ever see Mew is because Mew doesn't live in any of the pokemon regions, seeing as no pokemon game is in a real world location. Now this is interesting because it may perhaps be possible that certian places contain pokemon, and others don't.

@7nefsea The point of this video was to show EVERY single animal that appeared in the pokemon anime, and yes, there's a lot pf fish/marine animals. Also, the clips are sorted by animal, so mostly all the fish appear in the first 3 minutes or so.

If you're not happy with this, you could always watch my other video which is more "straight to the point" and only lists the major and most obvious appearances of animals.
