  • Gran admirador tuyo aunque no hables español...! grate job

  • In the end you stated you retired but the reality is you became self sufficient. Retired is an industrial era idea implying that a person has become worn out and can no longer continue to do work. The true goal of life is to do something you love and make a living out of it while staying out of debt.

  • Too bad the pen didn't fly away this time.

  • good for you, well deserved recognition.

  • Matthias, você é um gênio!. Parabéns, aprendi muitas coisas vendo seus videos. Sou seu fã. Receba um grande abraço do BRASIL.

  • Great, video... nice to see... good job

  • Matías is like a boy playing...A big person. ( Excuse my english, I´m from Spain ) I like yours videos too much

  • Congratulations Mathias :)

  • You Can Make A Puzzle?

  • German... I KNEW IT :P

  • German Genius

  • Sir, someday I hope to have as much fun as you once I retire! (^_^)b

  • Matthias, I have recently been looking into Aquaponics, and I randomly thought, that since you make a living through your woodworking, it would be interesting to see how self sufficient you could get. Apparently it take's about 25 mins a day of maintainance/farming to actually feed yourself once it gets going. I just thought that if anyone can do a good job of it, it's you!

  • @RohansBlog a company called portablefarm makes some ready-made systems and has some ideas of how productive a well tuned system can get

  • You're an amazing man Matthias! Nice to see that recognized. I see a weekly Matthias show on CTV in your future...haha. Wouldn't hurt the 'retirement' fund and would fit right in with what you're doing now. You have a down to earth way of showing some amazing things to the world. We all look forward to your next video release. Thanks for taking the time to share with all of us....

  • Fantastic video. Your 15 minutes of fame. The first of many in the future. Keep up the good work.

  • "I couldn't justify buying one, so I built one." ~ The Matthias Wandel mantra. ;-)

  • Great video and insight into your work!

Schön zu sehen was Du da machst und ich freue mich über jedes neue Video was Du machst.

    Grüße aus Deiner alten Heimat!

  • Great recognition for your amazing work!

  • where do you live, Hamilton or something?

  • Good work. I am congratulating. I am greeting from Poland and I am waiting for next films:)

  • Right on! Way to go Matthias!

  • It's great to learn a lite bit more about the man behind the wood tools. Great video.

  • Even if this is a slightly different style than yours, we get to know a little better through this broadcast, so thanks for posting it. You truly are an amazing man with a really happy life.

(may do some acoustic guitar?)

  • Glad to see you getting recognition. I'm also glad that you're making a living at it. Congratulations!

  • Great spotlight wonderful story!

  • Yep, I can see myself doing that years from now!

  • sos un genio !!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  • great showcase of your work! i'm just itching for a woodgears dubstep remix video to appear.

  • Gratuluju k takové prezentaci. Děláš výbornou práci.

  • Finally I know how to pronounce your name! Turns out I've been doing it wrong in my head all this time :D

  • I think its a very nice documentary, and its a spotlight thats well deserved.

  • PS: An acoustic guitar does sound quite nice as a project! I play guitar as well as a little mandolin and banjo and I have to say, if i had the chance to build either one(along with some know-how, I'd jump right on it!

  • Magnificent :) God for you! I hope some day I am able to do what I like as well! All i have to work with at the moment is my school workshop; I appreciate it but sometimes i wish i could just pack it all up and take it home...

Anyhow, I absolutely love your work and can not wait to see more! Keep it up! I'm sure your father is proud! :)

  • Good on you bro!

  • I don't know about you guys but that wooden marble machine is SO ANNOYING.

Yeah Matthias' work is amazing but I'd burn that machine. With lemons.

  • I'll teach you Spanish if you teach me woodworking. What do you say?

  • Matthias. You sir, are AMAZING! I would love to be your apprentice!!!

  • I take my hate of to you... I'm a huge fan of your work and it's great.... thinking there is life after Hellich IT.... ;)

  • From down here in OZ. "Well bloody done mate!" Your woodgears site was my first experience of some of your genius. I have since subscribed to your utube channel and also bought the panto-thingy plans. Your creations appeal to the builder, creator and bodger in all of us. As another post said - it's great to see a personal side to you. Keep up the amazment, as long as you share we will all be watching. Well done. Cheers, Rob.

  • Wonderful. That is a great story about you and your passion.

  • Wonderful. Loved this. Nice to see a personal side of Matthias. :)

  • Great Show!!! Keep up the great work!! Like the an old proverb: Art and knowledge bring bread and honor.

  • Thanks Mattias, and thanks CTV! your woodgears.ca website and creations have been a constant source of delight and inspiration to me. hope you are having a great day!

  • Of course he's German! LOL

  • Before you left, should of invented a Future for RIM! Maybe a wooden Cellphone.

  • You deserve every bit of attention, coverage, and dollar you gain through your work. You dedication to knowledge, and design, as well as your passion to do what you love, are truly motivational.

  • Thank you to CTV for letting you put this on YouTube. So many times broadcasters are fiercely possessive of their content, and spend time and money actually trying to prevent people from being able to see it! I am pleased that they are progressive enough to let it reach a broader audience. They should be congratulated both for picking a worthwhile subject, and allowing it to be seen.

  • Congratulations!!!

  • Congratulations!

I love how you keep saying "I couldn't justify buying one."

  • Matthias, great show ! ~ I find that I think quite similarly to you, but I didn't have a similar upbringing. Awesome that you had your father, and a wood shop in your childhood.

  • you sir are brilliant haha

  • Beautiful, they did a very nice job showcasing your creations. This has to be the best retirement an engineer can enjoy, making things without anyone to tell you what you can't do. I hope as a young engineering student that I can look forward to a similar progression.

  • Why are you so awesome?

  • Good for you Mathias! Well earned, and success could not have come to a nicer guy.

  • Congratulations you are great men I love your works and tips Tank you for everytihing

    C:-

  • It all started with the jenga pistol for me.

  • Wow, I don't remember the saw mill, but quite clever. Just be careful the lumber and power tool industries are going to start sending hit men after you. Better start building yourself some bodyguards.

  • That was great!! I wish you many more years of success Matias. This piece really serves to illustrate how much you've accomplished so far.

  • fantastic!

  • I'm so glad I found you and still following you! You're a really great guy and I was smiling during all the video; just happy for you.

Stay safe and healthy : we're all addicted to your videos now!

  • Very nice! You do a great job!

  • Matthias, you are an inspiration!

    Dave, from Australia.

  • So, you made an organ, before learning to play?

That, thats awesome! Would be cool if you could make an acoustic guitar once!

  • I like how you are so happy with your millions of views. I don't know anything about woodworking but your videos are amazing !

  • I love your videos about the things you design and build but this vid is all about you and I thoroughly enjoyed it.

  • Oooops - I've always pronounced your surname "Vun-dell", not "One-dal".

  • Truly inspiring work Matthias.

  • That it a good video congrats

  • Awesome!!!!!

  • next world domination!

  • @Mr2at If he can figure out how to build a thermonuclear device out of wood, I hope he remembers that I was a subscriber from the beginning.

  • awwww n_n im happy for you

  • Great video...loved the organ.

  • There is no doubt.. YOU ARE A GOD IN WOOD WORKS!!

  • You're an absolute genius!!!!

  • Congrats on the video! You do make awesome stuff, so keep it up!

  • Haha, I knew this was comming.

  • your retired? O.o but you cant be... maybe 35-40?

  • Matthias-

Do space saving contraptions spark any interest with you? I think given all your talents you could make some mind blowing contraptions that would help the average jo utilize and take advantage of cramped quarters. workshops - garages - bedrooms - attics etc. Dual use components, things that fold up and store compactly, reducing wire clutter with proper organization - I think you could make some KILLER hidden compartments for storing jewelry or valuables.

    Nice video -you deserve it

  • YAAAAYAYAYAYAY! CONGRATS!

  • I've always had trouble pronouncing your name, I just said Mathew.

  • Matthias, you know you've, "made it", when you start to have groupies...LOL

You definitely have a unique way of approaching your ideas and projects and I like your curiosity and especially like that you don't give in to convention. Congratulations on the show and keep up all the amazing works...

  • hey Matthias, how did you make the sign at 6:06? Is it cut from one piece or individual letters glued on to a board?

  • Following your bliss, you inspire. Well done!

  • It's great to see how much success you've had, I've always been an avid fan, congratulations and keep up the amazing work

  • nice one, i'm happy for you.

  • great job you are amazing..... i have a ideea make a WOOD LATHE?

  • wait... so... you had a Rim job?

  • @piratecheese13 my exact thought when I heard that.... what were they thinking when they named it?

  • Amazing stuff, always inspires me to get back in the shop and create. i have many of your plans and unlike large commercial blueprints-------yours are thought through and correct.

  • Can you go in depth on that organ please? In case you already haven't in some old video I've never seen before.

  • @lookwhoneedsahobbie Oh, he did. Do a search on his channel page

  • The stuff you come up with amazes me, keep the great videos coming.

  • 6:15 Pulgar arriba si tradujiste este comentario.

  • Hey Matthias. So you ARE German :)

  • Watching all your pieces being displayed makes me wonder how long I've been subbed. The show was very good - gives a little more insight into Matthias rather than just your work. Good job, keep it up!

  • Bravo Matthias!! I'm very happy you are finally recognized on TV, You have always been my "go to" search on youtube for 3 years now, I am continuously amazed by your designs and creations. I will always watch every video you post, if not 20 times per..lol I'm still working on my wooden bandsaw! Keep up the great work, you are loved by thousands of people out here!!

  • Great video to get to know you better Matthias. Nice to see the man behind the mind.

  • his first job was a rim-job?.....i burst out laughing, sorry but come on, that shit is funny.

  • genius

  • Wow Matthias (like virtually all your creations and videos) ...but i must say I would never want to piss you off otherwise that freakin' genius cunning of yours would design and perfectly build a wooden "Terminator" that'd be able to kill, fold, slice, dice, rout and hermetically package the body parts in an attractive compact wooden container :)))

...btw your vid's are excellent to watch and your poise, logic, and rational behind every project is very calming to behold, thank you

  • you're skillful.

  • Congratulations Matthias!!!

  • Hi Mattthias!

Congratulations to that very nice TV show.

How long had you been grown up in Germany? And where did you grow up?

    Greetz from Hamburg!

    Christoph

  • Since he's of german origins I suppose his surname should sound more like "Vàndel" rather than "Wandèl" but I enjoed the show a lot :)

The only thing that's missing imho is: how to become your padawan

  • Excelente Trabajo Matthias.... Saludos desde Chile...¡¡¡

  • @alewisgb ; It's a great video, but they don't say his name correct, at least not in the European way.

  • Congrats

  • I love this man with his excelent creativity and talent.

I beieve Fabrication industry can use his ideas in solving the problems. though he is working in his own shop, but industry should use his ideas different section of industry.

  • @123kkambiz I agree any industry production would be lucky to have him... and on the same note instead of making toys he could be making something widely useful (not trying to be harsh)

  • Nice

  • What an excellent segment!!
