  • man, that second level theme.

  • This game f*cked me harder than life itself.

  • i bet i know that Kabuki's favorite song....."I WHIP MAH HAIR BACK AND FORTH, I WHIP MAH HAIR etc" good classic, to this day the music is awesome :) cheers for the upload.

  • Level 3 has a much shorter layout in this version than on my PAL cart, does anyone know why this is?

  • I saw this game at a flea market for four bucks... Can't decide if I want to buy it. It seems pretty neat, it's like Ninja Gaiden but in a weird sci-fi setting. And it has something I've never seen in a NES platformer, actual realistic momentum when jumping off a surface that moves you (conveyer belts, etc.)

  • It's strange this game isn't a famous NES classic.

I suppose the character, the difficulty of the game and the numbers of levels (it should be a lil less hard but with more levels, I think. Or harder but with infinite lives/continues) played a role in that.

Because it got everything else we need from a NES game : kickass 8 bits music, fluent animation, a character that respond really well (better than in most famous games) and good 8 bit platformer with the odd backgrounds.

  • i whip my hair back and forth i whip my hair back and forth i whip my hair back and forth i whip my hair back and forth i whip my hair back and forth i whip my hair back and forth i whip my hair back and forth i whip my hair back and forth i whip my hair back and forth i whip my hair back and forth i whip my hair back and forth

  • everything in this game just reminds me of the batman game on the nes......waaay too many similarities

  • I used to play the shit out of this game.

  • !!!!!!! I still got this video game for the NES... a 11out of 10.. (^_-)THE FAZEONES LOUNGE

  • Must be one of Shantae's relatives!

  • It was my childhood game.

  • masterpiece

  • Wow imagine what Nintendo would do with this franchise if they rebooted it.

  • Always remembered this game, but not so much in detail. Looking back at it now it looks like a combo of some other games/companies all wrapped into one. The industrial style setting remind me of Batman, along with the way he strikes forward at enemies. The climbing, along with the boomerang chucker guy at 3:21, and the wall creature fountains are like Ninja Gaiden.

  • And the heart looking things (big and small) in the background and things that look like eggs with creatures in them (in part 2) as backdrops are kinda like Contra style stuff you would see. I know a lot of games are like others in ways, I'm not complaining. Overall, still a cool game. Doesn't seem a lot of people really knew this game. Decent soundtrack too.

  • whip yo hair back and forth whip yo hair back and forth

lol i remember playing this as a kid, always thought it was weird how the guy fought with his hair

  • I plaed this just a day ago on my nes emu and it´s on normal speed :)

anyway loved this game when I was a kid, like a easier and shorter ninja gaiden

  • I remember this game. It was hard for me. I never completed it.

The 2nd stage music reminds me a keygen music. XD

  • I really hated this game.

  • i actually enjoyed this game more than super mario 3

  • soft flowing hair = deadly weapon

  • Love it !

  • aaa hahaha que de souvenirs <3 mon enfance

  • the theme for stage 2 is simply brilliant.

  • lol looks just like batman for the nes

    NO JOKE

  • @Doomberg I thought the same thing just now.

  • Wow, I remember my friend telling me about this game as a kid, but it's my first time seeing it in action. Amazing!

  • i played this game when it was called batman.

  • One of those great games that not many people know about.

  • @TwistyMcFisty word

  • this was too hard when i was about 4 !!

  • Another 8 bit classic!!! It's better than some new era shits.

  • @gouvix AGREED

  • Like the assembly code in the intro :-)

  • memories i was young the world wuz good.......-

    looooooooool

  • The tip to enjoying such games like this, is to forget the fact that somethings abouut the story doesn't make sense. forget that, and the game will take U away!!

  • I have been trying to find the name of this fucking game forever! Thanks for the memories.

  • how many times u played this game?

  • none

  • I loved this too. It was about the time I got interested in programming so this was great for the imagination. I swear I never completed it though because of some bug, but I can't remember what it was...

  • I loved this game when I was a kid.

  • so your only attack is your awesome kabuki hair? are there any other weapons

  • I have this game. It's pretty awesome, but a little to short. And it doesn't really makes sense why there's a sewer and all kinds of organic things in a computer but ah well.

I have PAL version and it does sounds a little slower (just like MM2). I hate the whole PAL slowdown crap >:(

  • Haha remind me of my childhood

  • this is a good game imo

    it has has ok graphic

    the soundtrack is ok

it runs smoth, and it is fun :D

  • Hahaha sexiest game ever made

  • I just picked up this game after hearing some decent comments about it, and I have to admit that it's fucking rad. The music is my only complaint, it gets ridiculously repetitive after a while. Otherwise, awesome game! Lots of fun.

  • This game is pretty easy but a lot of fun. The gameplay and graphics seems to be inspired by Batman and Ninja Gaiden.

  • they should totally do a sequel to this so underrated game! love it

  • é uguale a NINJA GAIDEN PER NES!!!!!

  • is this played on an emulator? the music is slower on my cartridge

  • Odd. The music's about the same as on my cartridge.

  • European NES consoles played sound at a slower rate than NTSC models did, so that might be why.

  • As some have said, you have the PAL version. It'll play at 5/6 the speed unless programmers optimize it for the system. I understand several PAL games are like this.

  • @FrozenIon the emulator emulates it faster its the same thing with many megaman games

  • strange i never found this game frustrating as akid

  • Want a remake

  • Level 3 was the hardest because you had to learn precise timings of low-jumps, I haven't ever seen that before in any game and it was a discovery for me at that time cuz I thought the level is unbeatable :)

Music is amazing, I actually have level 5 track as mp3.

And it has some interesting story with more info and less primitive than other games.

By the way, it's a guy - colonel O'Connor or something like that and he's implemented into computer system as a digital self-imprint to fight virus.

  • Oh, the memories, I believe this is as far as I ever got.

  • First game I ever mastered!

  • Even though the main character scared the shit outta me when I was small. This game is pretty awesome! Loved playing it, I still have it these days.

  • Funny you should mention that, because some of the bizarre enimes in this game scared the shit outta me as a wee child, like those heads that open up and shoot stuff at you.

  • Round 2 has awesome background music.

  • I remember this was one of the hardest games back then

  • He's like a color inverted Inuyasha.

I remember this game, still got it too.

  • THE MUSIC ITS THE BEST!!! YEAHH!!

  • The music is so good that he head bangs as a weapon.

Oh, if you hit down, he'll tap his foot (switches to the jump animation without jumping).

  • This game was frickin hard :S

  • The music from round 1 is the best!!!!!

  • My first videogame :')

Quite emotive to remember your first step when finally you have travelled around the world and met wonderful people thanks to gaming

  • KABUKI FOR SSB 4!!!!

  • The second boss's weapon reminds me of the spark chaser, Terra's weapon in Mega Man V Gameboy.

  • I swear that the first level of this game is the hardest! I finished the others way more easy then I did with the first one ... because of that hard level I did not really like this game. I said "this one is doomed to the junkyard". But after I finished that level and went further in the game I enjoyed it :D

  • you kill enemies with your hair........badass!!!

  • God I remember playing this as a two year old and i'm now seventeen!

Jesus christ this makes me nostalgic. Makes you want to be that young again doesn't it :(

  • I heard that there was a reference to this game on Lost, can anyone confirm?

  • yeah i'd like to know, too, there was something about that on wikipedia :I

  • I THINK I SAW THAT EPISODE

  • I feel freakin old now, stumbling upon that game now... used to play that game non stop for a while...

  • I love this game, probably my favourite.

  • ya this game is awesome and i can still play it on my nes =D

  • sweet ass music right there

  • Best game ever!! :D This is true retro!!

  • Certainly one of the most memorable games I played on the NES. 2 decades later and watching the gameplay now, I now notice that back then the game might have pushed the limits of the NES graphics processor. Even when it's all 8-bit it somehow manages to look gorgeous still.

  • omg I had this game when I was like 7 years old.

  • LOVE this game. Few games had this particular type of frenetic action, coupled with a cool character and fantastic music (for it's time). Some similar games that come to mind are the Ninja Gaiden series, lots of Sunsoft games like Batman and Journey To Silius and the old Natsume, the one that made Shatterhand, Abadox and Shadow Of The Ninja. Tecmo, Natsume, HAL and Sunsoft were great on the NES. Also, sorry to be critical, but you're not that good at this game.

  • Still have the manual, carton and game in a box. I was never good enough to beat the boss at the end of this video. >_>

  • i remembered when i got mine, it came with a t-shirt

  • That´s one of the games i always wanted, but never got back then when i had my NES. Finally i can experience how this game is. Thanks^^

  • This is one of my favourite games of all times.

Had so much fun playing this game back in the days , i still know every tune.

  • when fighting bosses you can pause and divide health and power

  • thats like a crazy rocker who shake is head.. love the game iwe finished 34 times

  • Music is GREAT. I've got 4 10" subs on my stereo and the music for level 1 is amazing. Great for the audiophiles who love deep bass; not many NES games can claim that.

  • It`s still one of my favourite games, but I can`t make the 3rd phase of the endboss

  • no sequel

and indeed a great game..and the music :D

  • nope there wasn't, love the music!!

  • one of my favorite games back in the days. was there a sequel?

  • there was supposed to be, but it never came to be

  • Is there any info/webpage about it? Do you know what console it was planned for?

  • NES, i'm sure. found the info on numerous fansites, so i entered it into the game's wikipedia entry.

  • ack, wait. it wasnt fansites, it was the game's ending itself that said it.

  • great, thanks! I'll try emailing them about it, it would be cool to get some info if there's still any floating around about it.
