Yes, a great time to be alive : ) 17, crusin' in my 72 Chevelle,this 8-track jammin', pretty gal beside me........Ahhh. : ) Yes, it was the Bicentennial year....."old" men growing beards, all sorts of festivals......& the fireworks on the 4th that year!! I came from a small river town in Ky. & the fireworks were done in the harbor off a barge. Always neat but THAT year..man. : ) I had seen Bad Company prior to this album on "Straight Shooter Tour". Awesome show, great tune here & Thanks 4 post!!
Ya'll got it right, I was born in '60 in Beaumont, Texas. I saw everyone who came and if they didn't come to Beaumont, they came to Houston and there I went. I have a 14 year-old daughter and in a lot of ways her world reminds me just how fortunate I was to be a teenager in the 70's. Technology is great, but the times were too great to express. : ) I kinda feel sorry for the kids nowdays.
@Jones60100 Saw Paul Rodgers at Redcar Jazz Club (the North East of England) in 1969 he was in a band called Free.......he was wonderful....and still is....I danced all night...took my boots off and danced in my bare feet and lost my boots that night...(they were thigh high) which was quite fashionable at the time...I think I may go back and see if the boots are still there...xxx
i was 3 when this came out it has become my freebird when u live the steel ball's to the wall life you no it's better to burn out than fade away as we all so do seagul's fly through life never ask why just fly!
@MadamSnowgal Yes, I may say I was born in the best time of pops/beats, but in many sence I wouldn't say it way an easy time to be a teenager ... all the good looking blokes were already "reserved"....haaaa.
Mind ya... beside the BC there were other terrific groups and singers... ya just can't say this or that was the best there were a basket full of greaties. Tks. for stopping by to say what was on ya mind...it is always nice to see others emotions.
@clayopalstar : you bet your ass! Im younger than you, but I remember how much the country was in agreement that we were all Americans first & foremost - all differences aside. That summer was so special, I wish I had been a little older to enjoy the parties and spirit of the teenagers and young adults at the time, but I had fun anyways.
I saw Rush for the first time on the 1978 Hemispheres tour in Louisville, KY... and an unknown (to us) Canadian band was opening for them - April Wine!
When we got there, church protesters were in front, warning us that Rush was a satanic band and we would loose our souls if we went in... that's when I knew it was going to be good!
Great version...great pics.....Seagulls can be a nuisance when it comes to shitting on cars and people:)....but i love these birds.....SPLENDID CREATURES !! Great tribute to them, MISTER RODGERS !!!!!
I'm not even a Rock fan but Paul Rodgers is immense, simply amazing to listen to. An pretty hot too!!!XXXX

1976 : A GREAT TIME TO BE ALIVE!
hazor777 9 months ago
@hazor777,
I was fifteen... just seeing my first concerts, not quite able to drive yet.
Kiss was my first in 1976, then Aerosmith on the Rocks tour.
Being driven by your parents, trying to act straight on the way home so you didn't get busted!
The Bicentennial was going on... yeah, it was an awesome time.
