@ZeoTheZombie Originally, it was intended that killing Kain would gain Raziel the 'Shift at Will' ability (which would have worked as you'd imagine), and would move on to find / fight Turel in / around the industrial area producing the ash smokestacks you can see belching soot in the distance. It was instead decided that there was just too much game to fit into a single title, and the sequel was planned instead. Personally, I think they made the right choice.
@ZeoTheZombie Because Turel is taken by the Hylden back in time, in Defiance, to become Haskakgik, the evil sacrifice god beneath Avernus, of the cultists there, when Raziel meets Mortanius, and tells of the Heart of Darkness.
The line I treasure above all others from this dialogue was "Do not mock me, Raziel. You above all of us should respect the power bestowed by a limitation overcome" beautiful. Rahab seems to be the wisest of all lieutenants. D.R.
@Hasfast only fledglings are harmed by sunlight. except Rahab and his clan, and I know what you mean about him being the wisest. He already knew about having been priests, and Kain entrusted him alone with knowledge of his death.
@Hasfast in his conversation with Rahab Raziel describes Rahab as being formerly "maladjusted." That was probably a reference to his relationship to sunlight, but besides that, it was common for them to lose one trait in favor of another. Turel evolved telekinesis and enhanced hearing, but lost a lot of visual acuity (watch how he precieves Raziel). Zephon isn't mobile, but has webs. They each followed their own evolutionary path.
Now that you speak of it, what did Dumah suffered from? He had the Constrict, but he seemed to be invulnerable except for fire, which was a vulnerability they all possessed. Only Raziel and Kain seemed to be able to stand fire blithely. D.R.
This is the only instalment in which Vampires are susceptible to receive damage from daylight. That's weird. Maybe they were planning on making vampires on a more common perspective and then projected it otherwise. Unless Kain and Janos were as immune to the sun as Raziel was, there is no other true explanation why they would not be hurt by it. And another thing baffles me: Daylight seems to pass by the clouds only in certain places of Nosgoth. In others, only that thick gloom and fog exists.
Originally, we were to visit Turel's regime in SR1 - you can see a glimpse of it when heading to Dumah - huge smokestacks in the distance belching smoke. The purpose of this was to create a sort of nuclear winter, blotting out the sun and allowing vampires free reign.
Nevertheless, in past ages, Kain could wander pretty much abreast in the land, as did Janos in his Aeris and in the Vampire Citadel (and we all know how tall was that Citadel). And the vampires the Serafan killed didn't seem to catch fire, they were simply impaled. Perhaps the sunlight curse was only present in SR1, but was taken out in the other games. D.R.
I think it was explained that vampires during the Sarafan age kept a lot of their humanity. This might have been a reason for their immunity. Unless they were old enough to lose the daylight weakness. Only young vampires are susceptible to it as Raziel explained.
Kain is a rather special case, since he wasn't made a vampire by regular means. The heart of darkness might have something to do with it or his role as scion of balance.
@Hasfast Raziel says when he you meet the first bunch of vampire you fight that "fledglings are devestated by sunlight's touch", all adults are immune to the sun's effects (with the exception of Rahab and his clan).
Although that doesn't explain why Kain doesn't die from sunlight in Blood Omen 1, but i guess that might be because he has the Heart of Darkness in him, which could've given Janos' immunity to him.
@Hasfast all vampire become immune to sunlight after a time but no vampire is immune to water until rahab was made some how he over came water but from what i understand at the cost of sunlight
@Hasfast Actually Rahab was the only one of kain's suns who had skin that was resistant to water so much that he could touch it without burning. In spite of this though, he was the only vampire whos skin was sensitive to light.
@Hasfast It's established that only fledgling vampires have a weakness to direct sunlight. Only the weak offspring of Raziel's brothers are killed by the sun. The ruined world of SR1 had toxic fumes in the atmosphere blocking out the sun over most of the world except the occasional patches where the smog was thin which could kill vampires.
Actually, it's not just out of jealousy that Kain had Raziel executed. Defiance specifically reveals that Kain killed Raziel in order to create a creature with free will, who would be capable of altering history.
@Nintendoman01 yeah. I also remember Kain having a bit of remorse in him when he battled Raziel on Deifance and it looked like Raziel was dying. Wasn't he like "Nooooo Raziel.....I....I didn't mean" then Raziel tore out his heart lol. But I don't think Kain ever did hate Raziel
True, but Blood Omen 2 had something in it that the other games did not: technology. The Sarafan in that game were also behind an industrial revolution.
@swordninja567 If Raziel moves, then he is toast as the water would dissolve his physical body and he gets an instant free ticket to the spectral realm. Simple as that.
@swordninja567 Rahab is one of the more difficult ones because of being able to fall off into the water. His level is far more difficult than the battle with him though. I would say Malchia or Zephon were the easiest.

The boss battles in Soul Reaver are nearly great. You do feel they were not able to tweak them to perfection due to time constraints. The ideas behind the bosses and the battles against them are brilliant but could have been implemented better.
I would love to see a remake of Soul Reaver/LoK with enhanced visuals and combat.
there is a rumor about a possible remake for Blood Omen 1. the rumor is based on the recent clasification by the ESRB that cuallified the game as M. Basicly lots of blood and lots of violence..
I believe the rumor is for a rerelease over the PSN, not for a remake. A remake surely would be nice, but I think a sequel to end the series is in order, first.
Sadly, no. Defiance left things unanswered and had an open ending that invited at least one last game to finish it. There was a sequel in the making, called Dark Prophecy, but it was canceled. Eidos has hinted that they're going to revive the franchise, possibly even this year.
There was cut content at the end of defiance that would have finished the series; placing the soul reaver in Avernus for the young Kain to find, and kain travelling forward in time for a final battle with the elder god, restoring the pillars
you know guys,Rahab was always wayward,he knew that Raziel would kill him,he also didnt had any big ideas for him being greater than kain and other vampires and last but not least in soul reaver 2 he didnt participate in the execution of Janos.
Thanks for these videos. They are a great tribute for one of the best games in story n it's fans. But let me tell u that at the begining of this one it's not Rahab's zone music theme (Drowned Abady), it's Melchia's one. I tell u because I'm a big fan of LOK series n I know nearly everthing of them. I love the characters, the music, the very complicated story, etc. I've finished the five games but I think Soul Reaver it's my favorite ;)
He is on the area known as the Drowned Abady. You can arrive there from the Sarafan Tomb. Once you are on the Tomb turn into the spectral realm and the floor "will go down". Follow the way till you encounter Morlock (that it's not other thing that an offspring of Turel). Defeat him and you receive the telekenesis habilitie. Shot a stone that it's blocking the way (it'a had a symbol). Go through that way n you'll arrive to the Sarafan Tomb exit that it's connected to the Abady. Good Luck ;)
Two things: when i said the hardest i meant the hardest to reach. hehe sorry for that. And to clear doubts:
Malek didn't die after his famous battle with Vorador, he was just defeated but not dead. Then there was a trial in which he was sentenced to be imprisoned in his armour for having failed to protect the circle. Moreover, that didn't occur in an "afterlife location" since in Avernus you can find the very room in which Malek was punished.
lol, for me the hardest was zephon. I feel dumb after seeing this... i use to kill rahab jumping across all the platforms and breaking its closest windows (i fell a looot of times so after that i had to climb all the thing again)
I found Rahab, the hardest boss to beat. and his level was pretty tuff to complete. good thing I have me cheats to see me through lol hehe good job on uploading the SR clips! SR ROCKS!
he was also bout to fight raziel when he got the material reaver in SR2, he was just a great sarafan warrior as my undestanding.. AM I MISSING SOMETHING??
His backstory (a little of it, anyway) is explained in the intro movie for Blood Omen 1. More is explained in Kain's first meeting with Vorador in the same game.
my only doubth is... when u r in the thomb of the saraphans, theres another name besides raziel´s 5 brothers.. "malek" he is also mentioned in defiance to open some doors and stuff.. but whos this guy anywaY?
Malek was one of the Circle of Nine - the Conflict Guardian, to be specific. Kain tries (and fails) to kill him in Blood Omen 1, Vorador successfully kills him twice, the first of which being shortly after he leaves Raziel's presence with Moebius in SR2.
Not the case - Mortanius is the Death guardian. Malek died to Vorador. The conversation between Malek and Mortanius takes place in the same afterlife Mortanius first talks to Kain in. Mortanius imprisoned his soul within his armor and 'resurrected' him of sorts as a wraith.
As far as i knew, Malek didn't die after his famous battle with Vorador, he was just defeated but not dead. Then there was a trial in which he was sentenced to be imprisoned in his armour for having failed to protect the circle. Moreover, that didn't occur in an "afterlife location" since in Avernus you can find the very room in which Malek was punished.
he does in Defiance, but we can see in defiance that Raziel shows Pity for Turel,a thing that he didn t with the others(and even knowing that Turel cast him into the Abyss), and more,Turel is also the only brother that doesn t want by his free will to kill Raziel,he is forced by the 3 hylden corrupting him.Now about Rahab;he is easy, and his body is beautifully disigned, without counting the face that make him look and idiot, the voice fits perfectly too.
Stupid Rahab...
If he´d just swam away, there would be nothing Raziel could do to him.

Literally the only thing bad about this game is the fact that you lose the reaver after being hit once

Anyone else notace how unpractical it is for vampires to have things in their rooms that can possibly...KILL THEM!*grins*
Ryochii 3 years ago
Yet for some reason they all seem to do it. Their weakness is stupidity. :)
Joudas 3 years ago
because if they were in a room and were immortal with no weaknesses, it wouldn't be much of a game, would it?
michaelthonger 3 years ago
you are taking it to another level
NessDark 3 years ago
Think of all the things in YOUR room that can kill you...electrical sockets...cords on venetian blinds...windex...
They are pretty sweet that they only have one thing that can off 'em.
ResidentOgden730 3 years ago
True..but really...a sunlight amplafyer?
Ryochii 3 years ago
Lol...you mean a WINDOW?
Just 'cause he's a mutant shark vampire doesn't mean he can't get his Feng Shui on.
ResidentOgden730 3 years ago
OMG!That's awsome!Reminds me of a fanfic I read once...

was he a shark? lol

I've finished the five games but I think Soul Reaver it's my favorite ;)

i think they should remake SR1, keep all sounds and such since tony jay died R.I.P but improve the graphics

i hwa problem in this game, i cant find this rahab! were is he
RAMBOdyykkari 3 years ago

NessDark 4 years ago
lol, for me the hardest was zephon. I feel dumb after seeing this... i use to kill rahab jumping across all the platforms and breaking its closest windows (i fell a looot of times so after that i had to climb all the thing again)
NessDark 4 years ago
one of the easiest fights, but the hardest to reach!

Dunno Mate level was tough but the fight was very easy first kain fight was the hardest for me
wowarlord 4 years ago
he was also bout to fight raziel when he got the material reaver in SR2, he was just a great sarafan warrior as my undestanding.. AM I MISSING SOMETHING??
ymsvzw 4 years ago
His backstory (a little of it, anyway) is explained in the intro movie for Blood Omen 1. More is explained in Kain's first meeting with Vorador in the same game.
Joudas 4 years ago
my only doubth is... when u r in the thomb of the saraphans, theres another name besides raziel´s 5 brothers.. "malek" he is also mentioned in defiance to open some doors and stuff.. but whos this guy anywaY?
ymsvzw 4 years ago
Malek was one of the Circle of Nine - the Conflict Guardian, to be specific. Kain tries (and fails) to kill him in Blood Omen 1, Vorador successfully kills him twice, the first of which being shortly after he leaves Raziel's presence with Moebius in SR2.
Joudas 4 years ago
Nah Vorador spared Malek. Mortanius then stripped Malek of his body and imprisoned his souls within his armour.
Orumon27 4 years ago
Not the case - Mortanius is the Death guardian. Malek died to Vorador. The conversation between Malek and Mortanius takes place in the same afterlife Mortanius first talks to Kain in. Mortanius imprisoned his soul within his armor and 'resurrected' him of sorts as a wraith.
Joudas 4 years ago
As far as i knew, Malek didn't die after his famous battle with Vorador, he was just defeated but not dead. Then there was a trial in which he was sentenced to be imprisoned in his armour for having failed to protect the circle. Moreover, that didn't occur in an "afterlife location" since in Avernus you can find the very room in which Malek was punished.

I never fought this guy yet
mesohowny1 4 years ago
he does in Defiance, but we can see in defiance that Raziel shows Pity for Turel,a thing that he didn t with the others(and even knowing that Turel cast him into the Abyss), and more,Turel is also the only brother that doesn t want by his free will to kill Raziel,he is forced by the 3 hylden corrupting him.Now about Rahab;he is easy, and his body is beautifully disigned, without counting the face that make him look and idiot, the voice fits perfectly too.

How many Brothers does Raziel Have?
