I'm going to throw up, was that Rahni Harris? This is so tight. It's hard enough to find their music, let alone a video of them. Thank you so much for posting, good luck in your search. What station did this originally air on?
Chede1072, tell your aunt she still has a fanbase, dude. You two should put together a YouTube vid of her showcasing some Dayton memorabilia. Perhaps she has this or some other performance(s) of "the Sound of Music" in its entirety? I would love to see that! Btw, your aunt is smokin' HOT too.
@jelboysvw just accessing youtube for the first time; @thanks Rachede for standing up for your auntie!!! I would also like to have the full clip if possible. The only person I know who would have the info needed to do so is Shawn Sandridge or either Ronnie Harris who was the producer at the time. This was shot overseas I'm sure it was Holland, but we also were in London.
tne lady singing background vocals is my aut rachel beavers shes my mothers lil sister. im her nephew rachede we both are from dayton oh. roger troutman helped with that song
I Play this and other great classics at soultrain - Bristol, Bank holiday sundays check out the soultrain website for next soul sessions, and enjoy going back in time.
This is one of the most underrated soul groups of the early 80's. I use to play this album over and over again as a teenager and it is in my top 10 of all time in overall song quality. The whole album is slammin. thanks for this posting and the memories of a fun era in my life.
This is what good soul/boogie music is ALL about. 10 out of 10. So fantastically produced! It just has everything you could wish for in classic old skool dance track, that sparkling groove, those uplifiting soulful vocals, jazzy piano touches here & there, & that irrestible 'Bop-sho-wop-doo-wop' riff by Roger Troutman. It just washes over you & makes you feel damn good! Love it, love it, love it!
I couldn't say anything more, you nailed it. This is by far one of the 80's best and its hard to imagine it never became a staple song. truthfully the keyboard work was years ahead of its time.
Soul music has had a terrible reaction in the country it was born in. most stations play the same tired hits and its very few clubs that play album tracks, or forgotten singles. New York is probably the most diverse city for playing this type of music
Well that's what I thought & I've been twice there & was kinda disappointed. Maybe I just wasn't looking hard enough & you can't always trust what is said in the New York Time Out club listings either! The hunt continues!
oh yeah, the UK has got this sound down pat, no problems, possibly spoilt for choice in some areas it's just would be nice to hear it whenever I'm in the states!
Never mind the video...I'm still tryin' to find the freakin' ALBUM!!!!! "Feel The Music" Capital Records. I vaguely remember reading that Roger "Zapp" did some work on this cut on the flip side which is a NICE 8 minute dub version with more vocoder and still sounds funky to this day!!!
Shawn Sandridge(lead guitar) and Chris Jones(keyboards) are former members of Sun. Drums: Kevin Hurt, Vocal: Rachel Beavers. I've been also searching for the the full version. Great tune back in the day.

Too right Supe! It deserved to be a bigger hit! Is there clubs/bars that still play this kind of stuff where you live in the states?

The sound of delight indeed ! ;)
Aired/broadcasted on the Dutch tv-musicshow "Toppop" around 1983/1984 .
Dayton did some promotion in The Netherlands because "The Sound Of Music" had hit-succes over there .
Also on keyboards there , Rahni P. Harris who joined Dayton on the album "Hot Fun In The Summertime" in 1982 .
