  • I was 15. Same story. Brother, New wave was the best.

  • Such a sweet song. I like the guitar in this. :-)

  • Aztec Cameras first album "high land, hard rain" is classic. Go buy it!

  • Agreed.. one for the time capsule!

  • awesome song

  • balls

  • If it is shit why did you watch it? And keep your nasty comments to yourself because we happen to enjoy this song and video.

  • A great example of, great British music, and why,it's envied across the world, from a really great British talented band. From a time, when Music was Melodic, and great, the 80's. Doesn't get much better than this. Brings back some happy memories. My heart yearns for those day's, but this brings it all back again. wonderful. Thanks for posting. Love and Peace to everyone. LOL .

  • thank you thank thank you for posting this!

  • Nottingham, 1983, what great memories.

  • This song , as "new wave" as it was in 1983, would probably be released to country & adult contemporary radio today!

  • country?

what planet do you live on?

  • i think shemp has been clobbered on the head a few too many times

  • No, well actually he tells the truth. These days a lot of songs would that were great in the 80's would be sucked up into the country category....I am not into country, but country is expanding way into the pop genre. Adult contemporary is called smooth jazz these days.

  • you can't be serious!! listen to this '80s song and then tell me you've ever heard anything even remotely like it on any of those hillbilly channels!

you can't be branded as country without your consent and, trust me, Aztec Camera was never going to market themselves that way

btw, jazz has a specific meaning - it's not just what your 'lite' station at work decides to call it

  • Maybe.Anyway, the medias are always miscast artists just to put a label on them.

  • This was one of my favourite songs when i was fourteen ! It still sounds good :)

  • Ah, me too....sweet....those were the days; they'll never come back.

  • esto es de lo mejor joderrrrrrrrr. alucinantemente genial sonidos........contrastado con smiths para mi ....

  • The production/directorship on this clip was totally ahead of the times..

  • great song, good hooks

  • This is actually one of those New Wave songs and albums that actually haven't dated at all.

  • aaaaaaaaaaaaa fuck. Needs to be synced a little better

  • I'm a seventies girl, but this is definitely an eighties favorite. Talented band!

  • Kerplunk---You stink-Grow some ears because this song is awesome. plus if you hate this song so much then why the hell are you on this video you dumbwhipe?! GREARGHHHH! THE DRAGON WILL EAT YOU KERPLUNK!

  • fantastic song from a great album, shame about the quality

  • Great song! I got the 12" vinyl with "Walk out to Winter" on the flipside.

  • i love this song. Everybody I've shared it with though hates it. wtf. =(

  • i kno right!?!? i showed my friends that vid and they think it's not that good im like wtf haaha

  • I saw them as opening act for Elvis Costello on his U.S. Tour. They just had this song on KROQ rotation. 1 hit wonder?

  • well, one hit wonder is a term that is only used for mainstream listeners...

  • Nice.

  • Also featuring the legendary Dave Ruffy of The Ruts on drums.

  • is this song about sex?? maybe im just dirty but there's some questionable lyrics

  • there is something about their sound that has not been replicated....do you hear it in the first few bars?

I can't pinpoint it....I saw them in London in summer 1988, they have a unique sound that is legend!!

  • I thought the high notes on the acoustic guitar were mandolin. The video doesn't really show a lot of the solo so I guess it could still be mando. I go nutz over that solo. IT RIPS!!

  • man - i've been looking for this song for quite some time - thank you to whoever posted

  • Er... Are you sure this is the official video for this song? Back in 1983-84 there was another one playing on MTV, a very colourful clip with a bizarre plot and tarot cards all over the place... Ever seen it?

  • yes. there were 2 versions. I love the tree house with tarot card, & children playing cowboys and indian and adorable Roddy strumming his guitar on the tree house. yes..i remember that video! I still Love Roddy Frame! He's an amazing and talented musician. Pure genius!

  • Yes, seen it & loved it--and like every other good thing they could put their hands on, the lousy corporate rat-bastards locked it up w/a "This video is no longer available due to a copyright claim by WMG." sign on the door. I hope their machines crash, their dogs pee on their rugs and they burp big pastrami belches every time they open their mouths to talk to someone, the vermin.

Sorry to rant; this is the 3rd/4th time that's happened to me this week and I'm starting to get really pissed.

  • Roddie Frame wrote this when he was 18, very underrated band well written and composed, see good morning britain, CLASS.

  • love scottish pop.

  • I love this video version....the song is classic.

  • Love this song. Thanks for posting it. Don't care if it's not the best quality. Love hearing the music.

  • great tune. back in the day!

  • A high high inspiration. And he sings with such a faith, so pure.... It had to exist.

  • Nice.Probably his finest moment -I remember owning the Rough trade issued 7 inch of this in high school in the mid 80s.

  • The singer looks like he might be k.d. lang's brother . . . .

  • ok this isn't particular to this search but what the fuck is your problem youtube.

i know this won't reach the sergei level but what the fuck?

the search engine sucks since you have tried to incorporate advertizing.

man most of the quality has blown since you instituted this crap

  • Oddly enough, Roddy Frame is now a tour guide at Stone Mountain Park!

  • art school stuff

  • What went wrong? How can someone who wrote this aged 17 not be a superstar? I only saw them once (in Bristol, early 80's) and they sold about 20 tickets.

  • love that song.

  • Just a great song! And yes Roddy is wearing a CSA (Confederate States of America) cap - I bought one just like it at Stone Mountain Park a few years ago, haha.

  • Impossible! There are only 12 months in the year...

  • my father said that this video aired (04-24-83)? Isn't right?

  • This song was (11/83) in the charts not (4/83)!

  • He's wearing a Confederate Kepi! ha ha ha from TExas.

  • Mind when I nearly got sacked regarding this song.

Emailed the lyric "I hear you foot steps in the street, won`t be long before we meet"

Mailed to to wrong guy (same surname), he thought it was a threat...doh!!

  • Roddy Frame plays Cadogan Hall, London on Tuesday 28 November, 2008

  • Now, that's rock 'n roll!

  • ahoooh! ahooo! ahoooh! love this song......

  • Voor Beatrix

  • nice song, but the video is a shocker!

  • I agree, the video is hideous, and bunk quality. So 80s style, but the song has great contemporary value.

  • Fuck me, i had hair when this song was out

  • roddy frame !!!!?????????? whats he up 2 ????

  • Abso fabo. Brill, spot on all that was feel good sound of the 80s.

  • Really fancy this song!

  • Cambell the rock star

  • The super rockstar

  • I wonder if the U.S. Confederate Army hat was intentional or not?! GREAT band and GREAT SONG! I'm so pleased to finally have access to so many Aztec Camera video clips. They've been incredibly hard to find in the U.S. and Europe since the last time I hunted for them...

  • A good new-wave song, from that british group Aztec Camera...nice 1983 hit song.

  • orig signed to postcard records when he was 15 if you can look out for first single mattress of wire on postcard

  • Hahaha Me too d80sgal! Ah Manila...

  • edward norton on lead vocals

  • You meant K.D. Lang

  • haha, I can totally see both of them.

  • John Cusack?

  • holy shit he does look like him doesn't he? lol

  • Hehe... it was always in the back of my mind ... I always thought Cusack should be a pop star or maybe play Roddy Frame character in a movie about Aztec Camera or smthing like that ... weird, huh? Somehow Roddy's voice goes perfectly with Cusack's face.

  • memories of my sisters singles collection come floodin back, this song always used to skip in one bit.. funny i still expect it to every time i hear it lol... classic!

  • One word; 'Mint!' Youth Club memories - Happy days!

  • Aztec Camera. Weh hey! Oh Roddy I love ya! (still!)

  • Is YouTube ever gonna actually have good looking video, or do we have to put up with this blocky compressed crap forever?

  • love this song and all this time i thought haircut 100 sang it tit!!! BRILLIANT

  • I hear your footsteps in the street,

It won´t be long before we meet,

    It´s obvious

Just count me in and count me out and

I´ll be waiting for the shout,

    Oblivious...

  • brilliant song! I bought this the same day I bought "This Charming Man" by the Smiths, back in November 1983

  • i agree im big fan of roddy frame

  • I love these simple 80's videos...not like the complicated/raunchy videos of today

  • Tanks for posting ths vid..me likey!!

  • No doubt. This song is one of the best of the 80`s. Probably will last longer than most.

  • Just fab ! Put a smile on my face. Thanks for posting

  • This was so cool to see again after all these years. Thanks!!!!!!

  • Is that Craig Gannon on second guitar?

  • I think so.

  • Before "Still On Fire", but in the same breath, this obscurely latin sound was snappy in the early 80's as it is now. I am hispanic so I can tell ;-P 23 years? My last girlfriend was that age XD

  • this is a great song i seen lcd soundsystem cover it but this is much better its my first time hearing the real version

  • Wow, I never knew this particular version of this video existed! It's nice to see it. I wonder if anyone has the more common version, with Roddy up in the tree and kids running around the yard.
