@mxhonda51 what alternator are you running ie: full size or mini and what bracket please get back to me got a blown 73 can't get the right combo to clear
@Chevysrule454 Its not that its tuned better, its just small. A 671 blower is about the smallest you can get. If he was running a 1071, or hell even an 871 he'd probably be loping good as the others. Plus that thing is probably not warmed up in the video cause it seems like its idling a bit high.
@northropbound yes and no, theres 3 types of 1970-1974 Camaros, the RS, which is your basic everyday car with an appearance upgrade (spilt bumper), then the SS, a car tuned for showing the street whos boss with performance upgrades, but can still be driven on the road. then the Z/28, basically a drag style of the car, with only the necessities and a roll bar, and bigger and better everything ready to make imports look bad on the drag strips.
@northropbound now, since the RS is only a visual upgrade, you can add it to the SS or Z-28 to replace the full bumper with a split bumper, but you cant intertwine SS and Z-28 because they are both performance upgrades. I just bought a 1971 SS camaro and im restoring it so it will be my first car when i turn 18 in the coming moths.
@SpaceAce2593 ohhh okay, thats what im confused on. My high school auto shop has a '71 camaro as our race car. Im not exactly sure what the base model it is, we tried research the numbers and we think its just a regular RS because it has no emblem hole where the Z28 and SS emblems would go. Now on the split bumper it has two brackets under the headlights, right? Well does the straight across bumper have any other type of hold down besides those two brackets?
@northropbound the split bumper usually has brackets under the headlights (dead giveaway for an original RS) but the full bumper has two arms under the grill. theres really only two ways you can tell if the car is an SS or a Z-28, if theres a roll bar thats already installed, or has been taken out. in all Z-28's there will be a rear swaybar on the car, or presence of one. Since the rear swaybar brackets are welded to the frame, it'll still be there even if the bar is removed.
the only thing i dont like is the front bumper i would rather have a split bumper but when you go that fast it really doesnt matter when people cant see it
@cavalley1 It just has the fender vents. The 78-81 fenders are totally different as the front end design changed to a molded 1 pc. eliminating the "big bumpers"
Ya know, I don't even really like 71 Camaro's, but that is a sweet ride! I love the way the camera turns when you rev the engine - you must have enough torque to rotate the earth.
Damn, that's like the perfect red.
If you got a minute could you give me the paint
name or color code. Thanks.
