  • Yes!I've been playing drums for a little over 2 years and am lucky enough to have had a couple of lessons with Vidakovich and Stanton.Obviously growing up right next to new orleans I've been playing alot of second line funk type grooves but i must say for those wanting to learn these videos are awesome. Thanks man, cant wait for more videos. Im about to graduate highschool and move over there and your videos are definately helping me get better.Much appreciated man.Keep it funky, peace.

  • @funky420ful That's great that you're thinking of moving to the Big Easy! If you do, shoot me a line...I'll throw you the names and digits of a few drummer friends that I still have there. We just looked at some New Orleans funk grooves in the live streaming lessons on my website. If you get a chance, you should check them out!

  • So Dirty... love it, N'awlins is my dream living place cause I just wanna be enveloped by that whole style of music.

  • @BGruber42 It's another world...nothin' in the world like it. If you get the chance to live down there for a bit, take advantage of it. Such a thick culture!

  • really enjoying these videos man. Most of my work is in New Orleans theatre scene so some of my club chops suffer after a while. Nice to see someone who both understands the grooves and can explain it in a way that everyone else can pick it up. Keep up the great work!

  • @ifound103 Nice to find another NOLA native! The funny thing is, when I was in NOLA I played strictly Bourbon Street 6 nights a week (The Famous Door, BBC).The way I learned the grooves and feel was by taking my down time and going to see Kermit Ruffins and the Backyard BBQ Swingers,Rebirth Brass Band, The All Star Brass Band, Papa Grows Funk, etc...but I wasn't actively playing the style while I was there.I just love it though.Lots more to come on that subject, where do you play in NOLA?

  • @DrummerEtc Lol! Wow, you removed my comment! I don't even remember it but I don;t recall it being negative or any foul words! lol!

  • @therym71 Wasn't me bro...no clue why that got removed...maybe you wrote one and then deleted it? Idk, weird...I've only deleted one comment in over a year on here, and I even emailed that guy explaining why I had to remove what he said and that I was sorry (it was a pretty nasty comment). Me, censor the great therym71?!?! NEVER!!!
