I just got mine about two weeks ago. I use an iphone, so I got the escort live equipment too. So I see graphical displays on my phone while I drive (my occupation) and have already seen several user-generated warnings of "Live Radar ahead" and the band (Ka, K, etc) with the distance ahead, and time element (4 minutes ago, or whatever). In California, Ka alerts on the highway mean CHP, and I have not had any false Ka alerts yet. My longest legit alert was from about 3 miles. I like it.

how does it know that there is a speedtrap there? i know it uses gps to tell you where it is but how does it get the data of where the speedtraps are?

@ehnanimus 2 ways, 1- you mark the speed trap your self. 2- You update the radar detector with Escorts defender database that has speed traps in it.
Escort has a new item called Escort LIVE that can add this feature to most Escort radar detectors.

do you find it annoying at times? i mean all these detections going off i dont really need my radar detector unless im on the highway

@hilroar
Not at all, that's what makes the 9500 series so great, they don't false much and give good warning of real radar form cops.

Cool, although from here it looks as though the radar is slightly pointed upwards
